Chapter 2128
Chapter 2128: Chapter 2128: Arrival of the Crane_1 Chapter 2128: Chapter 2128: Arrival of the Crane_1 Ethan Smith walked over and bowed deeply to the Williams Saintess.
“Saintess Williams, is it true that The Day of Heaven's Mandate will arrive within ten days?” Ethan asked directly.
Saintess Williams looked up, glanced at Ethan, and replied, “I've heard that signs of the Mandate have appeared in the Central Province, seemingly heralding the arrival of The Day of Heaven's Mandate. Whether it's within ten days, I'm not certain.”
Ethan nodded, thinking that it seemed the cultivator's words were true.
Afterward, Ethan sat down across from the Saintess Williams and took a sip of wine from his cup.
Saintess Williams leisurely said, “Mr. Smith, now all the Great Families are seeking you out, trying to get their hands on the Traceless Immortal Scripture from you, including the Williams family. Aren't you afraid that I would make a move against you by boldly coming to Frostmoon Palace?”
Ethan smiled, “I'm afraid, but I still want to take a gamble.”
“Oh? What if you lose the gamble?” Saintess Williams raised her eyebrow.
“If I lose, I won't be afraid. If I dare to come, I naturally have a means to protect myself,” Ethan said rather calmly.
Intrigued by his confidence, Saintess Williams asked, “So Mr. Smith is quite confident?”
Not hiding it, Ethan nodded, “Yes, I do have the ability to protect myself.”
Saintess Williams covered her mouth and laughed softly, apparently believing the truth of his words.
“Mr. Smith has traveled quite a distance. I assume you have something else on your mind. Please, ask your questions,” Saintess Williams said.
Ethan nodded and continued, “I don't know much about the Day of Heaven's Mandate. I only know that one Chosen One will be selected, but apart from that? There are countless cultivators in the Holy Region, and if it's just to see a cultivator being selected, then what does it have to do with others? The probability of such an event happening to oneself is rather slim.”
Putting down her teacup, Saintess Williams replied, “What you said is indeed correct, but on the Day of Heaven's Mandate, dao techniques are the most profound, and many cultivators at a bottleneck will try to make a breakthrough.”
“I see.” Ethan suddenly realized, “Saintess Williams, have you ever participated in The Day of Heaven's Mandate?”
“Of course not. The last time The Day of Heaven's Mandate arrived was tens of thousands of years ago,” Saintess Williams shook her head.
Seeing this, Ethan asked no more.
“It's considered a chaotic era. In the coming days, there is likely to be a major reshuffling,” Saintess Williams said.
Ethan looked up at Saintess Williams and whispered, “You mean… even the Nine Great Families may no longer exist?”
“Yes, the Nine Great Families may disappear, and new families could rise in their stead,” Saintess Williams replied.
Ethan narrowed his eyes, “Those who benefit most from the current order, like the Nine Great Families, will surely do their utmost to maintain their dominant position.”
This surprised Saintess Williams a bit, she nodded slightly, “Where did Mr. Smith hear these opinions?”
“It's obvious,” Ethan sneered.
After saying this, Ethan got up and prepared to leave.
“Mr. Smith, Saintess Taylor and Daniel Wilson will be engaged,” Saintess Williams suddenly called out.
Ethan stopped in his tracks and said quietly, “I won't stand by and let that happen.”
After leaving those words, Ethan left.
Not long after Ethan set foot in the Central Province, he was targeted.
Upon entering the inn, he sensed a murderous spirit.
Ethan's brow furrowed and he whispered coldly, “You've arrived quite quickly. Since you're here, stop hiding and come out.”
The dim light in the inn flickered, accompanied by a cold wind, the door creaked open. In a flash, a figure stepped out from the shadows, moving with steady steps and an imposing aura.
“Mr. Smith, truly worthy of being the chosen one, your divine sense is truly exceptional.” The man sneered, his eyes filled with hostility. He wore black clothing, tall in stature, and had sharp eyes.
Ethan stroked his teacup with one hand, and said calmly, “Who are you? What grudge do I have against you?”
The man smiled, “I am Seth Jefferson from the Jefferson family. Although not one of the Nine Great Families, we are a family with considerable prestige. The Traceless Immortal Scripture you possess is also very attractive to our Jefferson family.”
Upon hearing this, Ethan glared at Seth, “So, you're just another greedy wolf in the pack. Your Jefferson family doesn't fear losing your wife and army then?”
Seth Jefferson sneered, “And do you think my Jefferson family would be afraid?”
“Perhaps not, but I think you, yourself, should be afraid,” Ethan said emotionlessly.
Seth was stunned, a hint of confusion flashed in his eyes. However, Ethan didn't give him the chance to think further, as he suddenly unleashed a powerful whirlwind directly at Seth Jefferson.
“Ethan Smith! You're too arrogant!” Seth let out a roar, and dodged Ethan's attack with a swift maneuver. Suddenly, a long sword appeared in his hand, its tip aimed at Ethan, exerting immense pressure on him.
But Ethan appeared quite relaxed, his eyes shining brightly. He suddenly pulled a small talisman from his pocket and threw it forward. The talisman exploded in midair, turning into a scorching fire line, which aimed straight at Seth.
Seth's pupils shrank, and he quickly swung his sword at the fire line. The clash between the sword's aura and the fire caused a violent explosion.
The force of the explosion caused the inn to shake, and the swaying lights reflected the tense expressions of both men. Seth was forced back several steps, his face changing color slightly.
Ethan, however, was still standing in the same spot, unmoving, as if the explosion had no effect on him at all.
“It seems your strength is still far from enough,” Ethan said indifferently, a disdainful smile on his face.
Seth's expression darkened, a vicious look flashed in his eyes, and he suddenly charged towards Ethan. His swordsmanship became even more ruthless, each swing bringing a torrential force, and in an instant, he formed an inescapable sword net.
However, at that moment, a figure suddenly appeared by Ethan's side. The figure swung the long sword in their hand, and the sword's light formed a dragon-like streak, instantly breaking Seth's sword net.
“Huh?”
Both Ethan and Seth looked at the figure almost simultaneously.
They saw the newcomer was tall and slender, with a cold expression and an impressive long, white flowing hair — looking just like an immortal.
“You… you're the mysterious person from the demon race!” Seth's face changed drastically upon seeing the figure!
Ethan also furrowed his brow tightly.
The newcomer was none other than Crane!
“Ethan Smith, you… you're actually colluding with the demon race! You are the enemy of my Hominini race!” Seth roared!
But before he could finish, Crane reached out a hand, instantly crushing Seth's head.
Seth fell to the ground, never to stand up again.
