Mrs. and Mr. Smith -
Chapter 1982
Chapter 1982: Chapter 1982: Cutting the Stone_1 Chapter 1982: Chapter 1982: Cutting the Stone_1 Upon hearing Marc Fraley's words, a smile appeared on Adam Graham's face.
“You can handle this matter.” Adam Graham said lightly.
Marc Fraley's face darkened, cursing in his heart.
This old bastard, not taking any responsibility at all.
Even so, Marc Fraley had no choice but to nod and say, “Alright, I'll take care of this. My people are already on their way to the Southern Province.”
Adam Graham smiled and said, “Don't worry, after this is done, you'll be well rewarded. Serene South City is definitely not your final destination.”
With these words, Marc Fraley's mood improved significantly.
On the other side, Ethan Smith and Salena Carpenter had already arrived at the gambling house.
Their arrival immediately attracted the attention of most people.
Many people looked at Ethan Smith and couldn't help but whisper and discuss.
“Does Ethan Smith have some kind of special ability?”
“Who knows, they've caused quite a stir in Sky City these past few days, and they must be up to no good this time.”
“This is a gambling house, different from other places. I don't think they can do much here.”
Ethan Smith ignored the people's comments and was about to activate his desolate divine eye to obtain the stone.
But Ethan soon realized that something was wrong. The desolate divine eye was actually suppressed in this gambling house!
When Ethan tried to activate his desolate divine eye, he could clearly feel a mysterious force suppressing it.
“What kind of Magic Weapon is this?” Ethan couldn't help but frown.
“Kid, are you buying or not?” The cultivator at the gambling table urged impatiently.
Without the support of his desolate divine eye, Ethan couldn't accurately select the raw stones.
With no other choice, Ethan randomly picked a stone.
The cultivator sneered and took the stone Ethan pointed to. “Do you want to cut it?” he asked.
“Cut it,” Ethan muttered.
In reality, he had no confidence; this selection was purely based on Ethan Smith's luck.
Here, whether it was the desolate divine eye or utilizing divine sense, nothing worked; all of their methods were suppressed, and everything relied on suppression.
Perhaps it was for this reason that the gambling house never lost money, and it even brought a considerable income to the Wilson family every year.
The stone-cutter quickly took the raw stone Ethan had chosen, and a knife appeared in his hand.
Under everyone's watchful gaze, all eyes were on this scene, because they wanted to see if Ethan Smith had any special abilities.
As the divine knife fell on the raw stone, the stone was slowly cut open, and a humming sound rang incessantly.
The dark gray raw stone slowly came apart.
Everyone held their breath and stared intently at the stone.
“Holy shit, there's something coming out!” someone exclaimed!
They saw a black thread in the stone, which was incredibly pure, like some kind of treasure.
Ethan couldn't help but be overjoyed. Was it possible that his luck was really going to bring him something valuable?
The divine knife continued to fall, cutting open more than half of the raw stone, but unfortunately, the stone only contained that one black material, and the rest was worthless rock.
“Damn, I thought there would be something valuable.”
“Crap, it's just a piece of black rock. What a waste of excitement.”
“It seems this kid doesn't have any real skills.”
The entire raw stone was cut open, yielding nothing inside.
“See, there's nothing.” The stone-cutting master tossed the rock aside.
Reluctantly, Ethan picked up the stone and, using his brute strength, crushed the raw stone.
However, there was indeed nothing inside – completely void.
“Tsk, it's nothing.” The surrounding people scattered like birds and beasts, no longer paying attention to Ethan Smith.
Unwilling to accept the outcome, Ethan immediately picked a few more raw stones and cut them open on the spot, but they were still empty.
In the blink of an eye, Ethan had spent almost 100 million magic coins.
The gambling house of the Wilson family had extremely high prices. With Ethan's way of playing, it wasn't the Wilson family who would be anxious first, but rather Ethan.
Seeing the deflated Ethan, the gambling house cultivators, who had been somewhat nervous earlier, now relaxed, even looking a bit disdainful.
“Sigh, it's so difficult to find treasure without the support of my desolate divine eye.” Ethan shook his head helplessly.
The entire gambling house was enormous, filled with raw stones everywhere.
This was only the first floor; the second-floor stones were even more expensive and higher in value. Picking up one casually would be worth tens of millions of magic coins, and the probability of finding treasure was very low.
Out of nowhere, Ethan had no choice but to turn to a naive-looking Salena Carpenter.
Salena didn't know much about these matters, but she was fascinated by “eating, drinking, prostitution, and gambling,” and naturally took an interest in gambling on stones.
“It's up to you,” Ethan said.
Salena rubbed her hands together excitedly and said, “I can't wait!”
Having said that, Salena walked forward and circled the stones in front of her, then turned around, put her hands behind her back, and shook her head like a little adult.
Then, Salena headed towards another stone pool on one side.
Ethan didn't know whether Salena understood anything or not, but he followed her obediently.
In this manner, they went around more than a dozen stone pools, but Salena showed no signs of stopping.
“What on earth are you looking at?” Ethan asked somewhat helplessly.
“There are only over a hundred stone pools on the entire first floor, and you've already been to more than a dozen.”
Salena glanced at Ethan and said with a serious face, “This crappy place is just bluffing people. They're all empty stones.”
Ethan was startled and quickly pulled Salena aside, whispering, “Can you tell?”
Salena shook her head, “I can't.”
“Then how did you come to that conclusion?” Ethan asked, confused.
Salena said earnestly, “A woman's intuition. My intuition tells me nothing valuable is inside these broken stones.”
Ethan: “…..”
Although somewhat speechless, Ethan still followed Salena around the gambling house.
“Don't bother; there's nothing valuable on the first floor. Why don't you try the second floor? As long as you pay 100 million magic coins, you can go to the second floor.” A cultivator from the gambling house next to them said mockingly.
The moment his words fell, Salena suddenly stopped in her tracks.
She stared at a piece of raw stone and said, “It's this one. I have a feeling that there's definitely something hidden inside!”
The cultivator in the stone pool took a step forward and said, “This raw stone is worth 300 million. Are you sure you want this one?”
“It's this one!” Salena patted her chest confidently.
The cultivator sneered, picking up the stone and asking, “Should I just cut it directly?”
“No, with your lousy technique, don't ruin my luck any further,” Salena grumbled.
Upon saying that, Salena took the stone and began rubbing it with her small hands. The outer layer of stone began to peel off one by one.
