Mrs. and Mr. Smith -
Chapter 1778
Chapter 1778: Chapter 1778: Attack from the Central Province_1 Chapter 1778: Chapter 1778: Attack from the Central Province_1 Everyone seemed to hold the same doubts.
After all, it was simply too unbelievable. Although they hadn't experienced damage to their primordial spirits themselves, they understood full well what it meant.
To not only stand up after suffering such damage but also step into the formation–which was essentially suicide–and even pass through it, was beyond comprehension.
Dean Garner didn't say anything. He knew the crowd didn't believe, so he immediately waved his hand, and a streak of shining light descended onto Ethan Smith's head.
Within moments, his primordial spirit was forcibly pulled out by Dean Garner!
Ethan Smith's battered and broken primordial spirit was presented right before everyone's eyes.
And the extent of Ethan's primordial spirit damage was far worse than imagined!
Upon seeing this, everyone gasped sharply and gulped audibly!
“It's… true!”
“His primordial spirit is damaged to such a degree. How… how did he even manage this?”
“Goodness, this guy is just too monstrous…”
Dean Garner returned Ethan's primordial spirit back into his body, then said flatly, “Do you still doubt it?”
“N-No, we wouldn't dare.” Everyone bowed slightly, not daring to meet the dean's gaze.
Dean Garner turned his attention toward the peak master and said, “I'm leaving these two to you.”
The peak master hurriedly nodded and replied, “Rest assured, Dean.”
After the dean left, the peak master dispersed the crowd, then quickly approached Ethan Smith.
He opened his mouth, looking as though he felt a bit awkward.
After a moment, the peak master chuckled and said, “You do have some skill, no wonder the dean favored you.”
Ethan Smith, breathing heavily, said with some difficulty, “So now, am I officially part of the sect?”
“Of course,” the peak master said with a smile.
“Follow me. I'll arrange your accommodations and give you a tour while we're at it.”
Thus, the three of them followed the peak master, traveling through Demon-slaying Peak.
Through conversation, they learned that the peak master's name was Lovell Burns. He was over five hundred years old and had only recently entered the Reversion Void Stage.
Therefore, strictly speaking, his strength might not surpass Salena Carpenter or Forrest Middleton.
“Our Demon-slaying Peak is divided into two groups–one handles investigations outside, while the other focuses on slaying evildoers,” Lovell Burns explained.
“Typically, information is brought back every ten days, and the choice of tasks is entirely personal.”
“Apart from that, every thirty days, there will be a lecture. Attendance for these lectures is mandatory for everyone.”
Ethan listened while nodding, but *his thoughts remained fixated on how he could quickly devour primordial spirits.*
The peak master led Ethan and the others to nearly every corner of Demon-slaying Peak, including the task-acceptance area and lecture grounds.
Finally, the peak master brought Ethan and Salena Carpenter to a cave abode.
“You'll stay here for now,” the peak master said.
“Demon-slaying Peak doesn't have strict rules. Your activities are mostly unrestricted, but there is one requirement: you must complete at least one task per month.”
Ethan bowed slightly and said, “Thank you, Peak Master.”
The peak master made a sound of acknowledgment and handed Ethan and Salena each a token before turning to leave.
Since Demon-slaying Peak had fewer cultivators, the cave abodes were spacious–practically a small world unto themselves.
“This place is quite suitable for me,” Ethan thought to himself.
As for the monthly lectures, supposedly they included teachings of cultivation skills, which adhered to strict evaluation standards.
For instance, on Demon-slaying Peak, the higher the number of tasks completed, the more points one earned, and naturally, the better the cultivation skills available for learning.
“You two should stay here,” Forrest Middleton said.
Ethan nodded and said with a hint of gratitude, “Thank you.”
Forrest Middleton didn't say much more, turning and leaving immediately.
After he departed, Ethan hurriedly found a spot to lie down.
The Thunder Courtyard had once been Immortal Emperor Eden Garner's residence. Forget the Golden Age–even under ordinary circumstances, the spiritual energy here far exceeded that of other places.
Within these threads of energy, one seemed able to catch a whiff of the ancient Immortal Emperor's legacy. Cultivation insights gained in such a place couldn't be compared to other areas at all.
Throughout the cave abode, luscious immortal trees thrived, and the ground was covered in soft grass. Ethan lay down for only a short while before falling asleep.
Meanwhile, in Lovell Burns's cave abode…
He was seated with a youth, playing a game of chess.
The youth, named Ninth Cloud, was known as Demon-slaying Peak's top cultivator, with strength surpassing Lovell Burns's!
In the brief period of the Great Upheaval, he had ascended to the middle stage of Reversion Void and was even approaching the late stage!
Such talent ranked among the highest of chosen ones in the entire Rayleigh Province and even throughout the Holy Region.
“Two people joined today. Aren't you curious to check on them?” Lovell Burns asked casually.
Ninth Cloud, still focused on the chessboard, shook his head and said, “What does that have to do with me?”
Lovell Burns chuckled and replied, “They're no ordinary recruits, especially the one named Ethan Smith. Despite severe damage to his primordial spirit, he passed our testing array. The dean himself even descended upon Demon-slaying Peak.”
“Oh?” Ninth Cloud's eyebrow arched slightly, then he smirked and said, “That's indeed surprising, but not worth paying extra attention to.”
“What makes you say that?” Lovell Burns asked.
Ninth Cloud said flatly, “Severe primordial spirit damage–so what if he passed the array? His foundation is compromised, and his future achievements won't be remarkable.”
Lovell Burns seemed to understand. Stroking his chin, he muttered, “That's true. I really don't understand why the dean values him so highly.”
“Perhaps it's because of his spirit, but unfortunately, spirit alone does not sustain one's cultivation journey,” Ninth Cloud replied indifferently.
Lovell Burns nodded slightly before murmuring, “His spirit, at the very least, could inspire others. Perhaps that's the dean's intention.”
Cloud Sect.
Forrest Middleton rushed forward at great speed.
When he returned to Cloud Sect, the Deputy Sect Master hurried over to him.
“Sect Master, there are two people waiting for you,” the Deputy Sect Master said anxiously.
Forrest Middleton said nothing. Narrowing his eyes, he instantly sensed the presence of the two individuals.
Then, Forrest entered the tea room.
Inside, two men were leisurely sipping tea.
Seeing Forrest return, both looked up simultaneously.
“So, you're Forrest Middleton?” one of them asked.
Forrest Middleton stared coldly at them and said, “You're from the Central Province?”
“Oh? How did you know?” the two men asked, their tone slightly amused.
Forrest ignored their question, sat across from them, and said calmly, “Get to the point.”
“Very straightforward. As expected of the number one in the Southern Province,” one man said with a faint smile.
“We're here on behalf of our young master to deliver you a message.”
Forrest glared at the two men coldly, as though he already guessed their identities.
