Kendrick took the inner core from Ethan, scrutinized it carefully and said regretfully, “Too bad, this is not the inner core I wanted.”

Ethan's brows furrowed slightly. He had guessed Kendrick would react this way, but still felt very annoyed when he actually heard it.

“Which one do you want then? I'll go back and bring it to you,” Ethan asked, suppressing his anger.

Kendrick tucked the inner core away casually and said with a smile, “I can't tell you exactly which one. All I know is, it's not this one.”

Ethan couldn't help but smirk at Kendrick's cunning.

“In that case, why don't you come with me to identify it,” Ethan suggested.

Kendrick quickly waved his hands and said, “No way, I have my own matters to attend to. I don't have time to accompany you to the Demonic Cave.”

Ethan glanced at the table in front of him and said, “Aren't you just drinking tea? What other business could you possibly have? Besides, the Demonic Cave isn't far from here. It wouldn't waste too much of your time.”

“Who told you I'm just drinking tea? I'm meditating!” Kendrick huffed. “Anyway, if you don't get me the inner core I want, I won't agree to help you.”

Ethan clenched his teeth, feeling annoyed, but considering his current needs, he had no choice but to agree.

So, Ethan nodded and said, “Fine, I'll go again. Please wait here.”

After dropping these words, Ethan exited The Burke Family Cave.

Watching Ethan's retreating figure, Kendrick sneered.

“Such a fool for falling for the same trick twice,” Kendrick mocked.

Then, he took out the inner core and began happily playing with it.

“What a fantastic treasure, such an unexpected windfall,” Kendrick said, an excited smile spreading across his face.

He played with the inner core, unable to put it down.

It was evening by the day's end.

Ethan returned to the Burkes with another inner core in his hand.

“Is this the one?” Ethan handed the inner core to Kendrick.

Kendrick took it and instantly felt elated. However, he kept a calm facade.

He slightly furrowed his brows and sighed, “Regrettably, this isn't the one either.”

Ethan could hardly bear it any longer. He clenched his fists and said, “Are you messing with me on purpose?”

Upon hearing this, Kendrick suddenly banged on the table, shouting angrily, “Kid, what did you say? When did I ever trick you?”

Ethan, facing him with cold eyes said, “Which demonic beast, what kind of inner core, you keep your mouth shut. Every inner core that I bring back, you keep. Isn't that tricking me?”

Kendrick retorted coldly, “Oh boy, you chose the wrong beast yourself and now put the blame on me? Well then, let me tell you, I'm raising my price!”

“What do you mean?” Ethan asked, his voice glacial.

Kendrick sneered and said, “If you want me to accompany you to the northern border, sure. I want five inner cores in return. Including the two you just gave me, you owe me three more.”

Ethan's face turned icy. A clear killing intent was radiating off of him.

But Kendrick was not scared. He reclined comfortably in his chair and casually asked, “So, you're planning to fight me?”

Ethan took in a deep breath, forcing down his anger.

If he killed Kendrick now, he might fail to gather enough people.

“Right, I agree,” Ethan responded coldly.

Leaving this remark behind, Ethan left The Burke Family Cave again.

After Ethan left, a steward came out from the side.

“Master Burke, if Ethan really brings back three inner cores, what would you do?” the steward inquired, clearly confused.

Kendrick laughed chillingly, “Still use the old trick. I'll tell him none of them are the ones I need. Anyway, I have a thousand way to stall him. Eventually, he will give up.”

After that, Kendrick handed the inner core to the steward for safekeeping.

After Ethan departed this time, he didn't return for three whole days.

Kendrick had almost forgotten about him, but his steward curiously remarked, “Usually, Ethan returns within a day at most. Why has he been gone for three days this time?”

This comment reminded Kendrick of Ethan. He replied indifferently, “No need to ask, he must have died in the Demonic Cave. The beasts there are quite variable in strength. I ordered him to kill three of them. There's a high probability that he met his downfall there.”

The steward suddenly enlightened, he gave Kendrick a thumbs up, stating, “Master Burke, you are indeed a mastermind!”

However, when Kendrick was still basking in joy, a young man walked in from outside.

The young man was covered in blood and looked ragged.

The chilly atmosphere emanating from him was bone-chilling.

It was none other than Ethan!

Upon seeing Ethan, Kendrick was surprised.

He scrutinized Ethan from head to toe and then said with false concern, “My! What happened to you? Did you get injured? You should have returned if you found it too difficult. This was never an easy mission. There's no need to tire yourself out.”

Ethan glanced at his bloody body and said, “Oh, this is not my blood.”

This caused Kendrick to frown slightly and he asked in a somber voice, “You actually brought back the inner core?”

“Yes,” Ethan replied.

Kendrick sneered inwardly.

“Looks like I have to use the same trick again,” Kendrick thought to himself.

“To avoid choosing the wrong beast, I butchered all the remaining beasts and brought back all the inner cores,” Ethan explained.

Then, he turned his hand and five inner cores fell into it.

Seeing the different colors of the inner cores shimmering in Ethan's hand, Kendrick was shocked.

“You… did you kill all the beasts in the Demonic Cave?!” Kendrick gulped down his saliva.

Ethan nodded and said, “Correct, Senior Burke, this time you should accompany me to the northern border, right?”

Kendrick furrowed his brows. He took the inner cores from Ethan's hand, his eyes darting around. Then, he chuckled and said, “Ethan, these inner cores are indeed not bad, but I think I made a mistake. The inner core I need is not from the Demonic Cave, but from a Sky Silver Leopard deep within the Azure Rock Forest! So, I'm afraid I need to trouble you to take another trip.”
