Mrs. and Mr. Smith -
Chapter 1355
Chapter 1355: Chapter 1355: The Sect Master Backs Down?! Chapter 1355: Chapter 1355: The Sect Master Backs Down?! First Elder, glaring at Randall Freeman, clenched his fists, his face filled with resentment, as if about to burst with anger.
The sect master, on the other hand, was quite calm, sitting there, his face devoid of any emotion.
“Everyone knows I, Randall Freeman, don't have a son. I've been searching for a worthy successor all these years and finally found a cherished disciple. It was really not easy.” Randall Freeman continued to speak.
“So I consider Ethan Smith as my own. Whoever dares to touch my disciple, even at the cost of my life, I will fight tooth and nail against them!”
While saying this, Randall Freeman's eyes subtly swept across the Cloud Sect's party.
Though Randall Freeman did not explicitly point it out, everyone understood that his words were directed at the Cloud Sect's party.
The First Elder, sitting beside the sect master, finally couldn't contain himself. He violently rose, shooting Randall Freeman a cold glance.
“Randall Freeman, what do you mean!” First Elder angrily raged.
Randall Freeman sneered: “Exactly what it sounds like. Can't understand me? It seems your educational level isn't high, understanding pretty poor if you need me to explain something so straightforward.”
“You!” First Elder was so enraged his chest heaved, and his veins threatened to pop.
Randall Freeman continued: “What, are you going to let your temper get the best of you? Seems like you really can't handle much.”
First Elder restrained his anger. He took a deep breath and said: “Randall Freeman, don't assume the Cloud Sect is frightened of you!”
“The Cloud Sect might not fear me, but you certainly do.” Randall Freeman sneered.
“If you disagree, step forward for a match. Why all this bluster?” Randall Freeman advanced, towering over First Elder.
This arrogant posture truly startled everyone!
Even Ethan Smith didn't expect this much audacity from Randall Freeman!
First Elder opened his mouth, seeming to want to say something but hesitated.
It was evident that the First Elder was no match for Randall Freeman.
Having no choice, the First Elder could only look to the sect master, as if waiting for him to make a decision.
The hitherto silent sect master finally spoke up.
He slowly rose, smiled, and said: “Randall, why such resentment? Why disturb the peace.”
The sect master's words once again left people stunned.
Were these words truly from the Leader of the Cloud Sect?
Everyone knew the Leader of the Cloud Sect once fought against all comers, killed numerous people but never met a worthy rival!
Even if Randall Freeman was the opponent, he would never back down!
But today's attitude, why was it so amiable?
Randall Freeman obviously hadn't expected the Leader of the Cloud Sect to be so accommodating. He furrowed his brows while pondering on a response.
“You must be Ethan Smith?”
Finally, the sect master's gaze fell on Ethan Smith.
Ethan Smith nodded, saying: “Greetings to the sect master.”
“Come here, let me take a good look at you.” The sect master said with a laugh.
However, Randall Freeman subconsciously blocked Ethan Smith.
The sect master laughed: “Randall, don't worry. Why would I do anything dishonorable in front of so many people?”
Randall Freeman furrowed his brows but, thinking it reasonable, stepped aside.
The sect master looked Ethan Smith up and down, saying: “I heard you've been poisoned with the Twilight Poison, resulting in your inability to cultivate?”
Ethan Smith hummed in agreement, saying: “In response to the sect master, that indeed is the case.”
To his apparent surprise, the sect master said: “Why didn't you say anything? Had you mentioned it earlier, we wouldn't have come to this stage.”
Ethan Smith firmly said: “I did mention it, but your Cloud Sect's Mr. Snider didn't believe me and even tried to kill me. I was forced to act.”
“I see.” The sect master nodded. He stood and said: “All of these misunderstandings… it shouldn't have come to this…”
The sect master's attitude left everyone a bit bewildered.
Everyone assumed a great conflict was about to begin, but the final outcome was just that!
“Nevertheless, this matter still has to be resolved.” The sect master continued.
Then, the sect master's gaze fell on Ethan Smith.
He coldly said: “You, as well as our Cloud Sect, are both victims. If it weren't for the stubbornness of Mr. Snider, Philbert Duncan wouldn't have died.”
Ethan Smith quickly nodded: “Exactly! I didn't have anything to do with it. I didn't want to kill Philbert Duncan.”
“I understand.” The sect master nodded and then waved his hand: “Alright, be on your way.”
“Thank you, sect master.” Ethan Smith bowed and fell back to one side.
Randall Freeman didn't say anything further. A resolution without violence was obviously a win-win situation.
The two returned to their table and sat down. It wasn't long before Ethan Smith impatiently said: “How strange, why is the Leader of the Cloud Sect so reasonable for a change?”
Randall Freeman stroked his beard and muttered: “I also find it quite strange. It's not like him at all…”
Not just Randall Freeman, but even the First Elder was quite puzzled.
He anxiously said: “Sect master, why did you…! Do you fear this Randall Freeman!”
The sect master glanced at First Elder, shaking his head saying: “I'm not giving in to Randall Freeman.”
“Then what is it!” First Elder asked, totally confused.
In a calm tone, the sect master said: “Clearly it's because of Ethan Smith. What I value is his potential.”
