Chapter 1286
Chapter 1286: Chapter 1286: Philbert Duncan's Strategy_1 Chapter 1286: Chapter 1286: Philbert Duncan's Strategy_1 At this moment, Philbert Duncan and three mighty realm cultivators by his side were sitting around a blazing fire, eating freshly hunted wild game.
“If push comes to shove, we'll have to head into the Azure Rock Forest and wait for Ethan Smith,” someone remarked.
“Indeed. As long as we avoid direct confrontation, we should be fine. We have no desire to openly clash with the Hunters, nor would they dare to provoke our Cloud Sect,” another person chimed in.
Philbert Duncan, who had been silent all this time, suddenly curled his lips into a cold smile.
“Why bother with such overcomplication?” Philbert sneered with disdain.
Holding a fire stick in his hand, he tapped it repeatedly against the ground, a mocking grin playing across his face.
“Does Mr. Duncan have a better idea then?” someone asked curiously.
Philbert casually replied, “While it's true we can't start a war with the Hunters, that doesn't mean the team leader can't be replaced.”
As soon as these words left his mouth, the expressions of those around him immediately shifted to sheer astonishment.
“Sir, are you suggesting…?” One of the mighty cultivators looked confused, awaiting clarification.
Philbert calmly explained, “An organization as vast as the Hunters is bound to have people who are dissatisfied with its leader.”
“What's more, their leader's rigid behavior has likely offended some people behind the scenes long ago.”
“All we need to do is offer a few incentives. Remove the current leader and install someone who's obedient to us–isn't that simple?”
Those present exchanged uneasy glances. *Philbert's audacious plan seemed to shock them to their cores.*
“I think that young chap who led us to Ethan Smith today might be a good candidate,” Philbert said with a faint smile.
“You all figure out a way to bring him to me.”
The person Philbert referred to was none other than Urban Dittman.
His judgment was sharp; in the brief interaction earlier today, he had easily seen through Urban's scheming nature. Urban was the ideal choice.
“Sir, this matter is incredibly significant. Shouldn't we think it over carefully before making any rash decisions?” someone suggested.
Philbert, consumed by arrogance, snapped, “Enough nonsense! Just do as I say!”
“Understood, Sir. We'll get it done immediately!”
The group rose slowly and began heading toward the Hunters' domain.
Hunter headquarters.
Urban Dittman was lying in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.
*Each time Ethan Smith crossed his mind, rage burned hot in his chest.*
*And when he thought about the million-plus coins Ethan had swindled from him, he clenched his teeth in fury.*
“Damn it!” Urban shot up from his bed, completely restless.
He pushed open the door, intending to find Cliff Golden under the cloak of night.
But he hadn't gone far before three figures blocked his path.
“Who are you? What do you want?” Urban grumbled irritably.
Before the last word left his lips, he suddenly realized who they were.
*These three–it was them, the Cloud Sect cultivators he had seen earlier in the day!*
Urban's face turned pale instantly. *Fear gripped him as he stammered,* “Gentlemen, I swear I don't know Ethan Smith. We're not even close–please, don't involve me in this…”
“Enough talking. Our master wants to see you,” one of them said coldly.
Before Urban could say another word, they grabbed him and sped away with alarming speed.
Along the way, Urban's mind was racing with terror. *He was convinced these people were going to kill him.*
Minutes later, they arrived before Philbert Duncan.
“Sir, we've brought him.”
Philbert nodded slightly and glanced at Urban, gesturing for him to sit down.
Terrified and scrambling, Urban crawled over to Philbert, flashing a strained smile. “Mr. Duncan, I swear Ethan Smith has nothing to do with me. I thought he was a member of Cloud Sect, but I didn't know he was a deceiver! I had no idea he was your enemy!”
Philbert responded casually, “Well, it seems you're rather familiar with my Cloud Sect.”
Urban quickly replied, “Of course! Everyone in the Southern Province knows Cloud Sect is the top sect!”
Philbert slowly stood up, the sharp angles of his youthful face flickering with a shrewdness far beyond his years.
“Would you like to be the leader of the Hunters?” Philbert asked bluntly.
Urban furrowed his brow and answered, “What do you mean by that?”
Philbert snorted coldly, “The current team leader shows no respect for Cloud Sect. Over this Ethan Smith business, he dares to oppose us!”
“So, I've decided I want someone cooperative in charge of the Hunters. What do you think?”
Urban recoiled in shock, raising his hands in protest. “Mr. Duncan, you overestimate me–I'm not capable of such a thing!”
Philbert frowned slightly and said, “How do you know unless you give it a try? Kill the current team leader, or take away his Saint Weapon, and you'll naturally become the next leader!”
“No, no, no! Mr. Duncan, I lack the ambition for something like that. You've picked the wrong person for this,” Urban exclaimed in despair, shaking his head fervently.
Philbert's patience wore thin. He glared at Urban with fury and barked through clenched teeth, “Useless coward! Enough whining–I'm telling you to find a way to kill that leader! If you can't, I'll kill you myself!”
*Urban felt a bitter pang when he heard these words. Fear spiraled as he admitted,* “Mr. Duncan, it's truly beyond my abilities. Besides, even if he dies, I wouldn't be eligible to succeed him…”
Midway through his sentence, however, Urban's eyes lit up as if a solution had dawned upon him.
“Mr. Duncan, I could introduce you to someone far more suited for this task!” Urban suddenly exclaimed.
“Who?” Philbert asked, irritation creeping into his tone.
“Cliff Golden, our Hunter King!” Urban whispered carefully.
“He's held in high regard within the Hunters, with a great many followers. If the team leader died, he'd unquestionably become the next leader!”
“Most importantly, he's been dissatisfied with the current leader for a long time. After suffering a defeat at Ethan Smith's hands recently, I'm confident he'll agree to work with you!”
Philbert exchanged glances with those around him, seemingly conveying unspoken messages through his eyes.
“Are you certain about this?” Philbert asked, narrowing his gaze.
“Absolutely!” Urban assured, pounding his chest for emphasis.
A faint smile spread across Philbert's face.
He patted Urban on the shoulder and said, “Good. I'll leave this task to you–find a way to bring him to me.”
