Mr. Su's Love Investigation Report -
Chapter 83
Chapter 83: Chapter 83
She was just about to open the door when someone yanked her back with great force, tossing her aside. Mr. Su’s figure swiftly passed by her, reaching the door ahead of her, and he cautiously opened it.
Standing outside was a policeman.
After showing their police IDs, the policemen wanted to check their identification cards.
They handed over their IDs and journalist cards.
"So, you’re journalists!" The policeman returned their documents.
"Yes, we’re discussing some article issues," Su Ronggui explained.
The policeman nodded, "Sorry to bother you!"
As the police turned to leave, Tu Hengsha peeked out from behind Su Ronggui to look through the open door. She saw the policemen escorting several disheveled men and women down the corridor, among whom was the woman in the Mei red dress she had encountered twice.
"It’s you again! How many times have we caught you already? This hotel today, that motel tomorrow!" a policeman’s voice rang out.
Tu Hengsha didn’t know who was being addressed, but she confirmed her earlier suspicion: this woman was indeed involved in sex work!
Ronggui closed the door and turned around with a stern face to scold her, "What goes on in your head?"
"..." She was stunned. What now?
"Do you open the door for anyone who knocks late at night? Do you even think?"
"..." Oh well, she was already numb to Mr. Su’s admonitions and merely filtered out his accusations, whispering while pointing at the door, "That person..."
"Who?" He frowned.
"That woman! The one we met on our first day here, in the Mei red dress, got arrested. She..." Tu Hengsha felt a bit embarrassed to say it, but then she thought of herself as a journalist: hadn’t she seen it all? Weren’t people from all walks of life just people? "She... was selling herself..."
"Hmm." It was his way of acknowledging that he saw and heard what she said.
"But... I have this indescribable feeling," she said, frowning slightly.
"Isn’t that obvious?"
"..." So, was the conversation over again? Wasn’t it normal to say, "Go on, tell me"? She forgot that Mr. Su would never play the funny role!
She walked in front of him, "Mr. Su, I’ve almost seen her every day. During the three days you weren’t here, I saw her twice, always with her head down, wearing the same dress."
He looked at her.
She understood this to mean Mr. Su was saying, "Go on!"
"My intuition tells me this person isn’t merely a prostitute, or maybe she has no choice? Every time she comes to the hotel with a man, her head is down, showing she feels ashamed about it. Also, she always wears the same dress. Could it be... she doesn’t have another appropriate dress for the next day?" She quickly voiced her thoughts, worried that if she paused, Mr. Su would lose patience.
"So you’re bored and planning to start another special feature?" He showed no interest, sitting back down in front of his computer.
"No..." she quickly responded, "I’m just... just sharing my conjecture."
"You think she’s maybe forced by life’s pressures to do wrong?"
"Yes! Maybe she has no other choice?" It was rare for Mr. Su to discuss a topic with her.
"Tu Hengsha, remember, in our line of work, we rely on evidence. As for your intuition, let it sleep for now! Also, nobody in this world has an easy life, but right is right and wrong is wrong; there’s no such thing as having no choice!"
