Chapter 63: Chapter 63 Rabies Vaccine
Bangbangtang barked a couple of times right on cue, as if to say, "Yeah, I’m being good." Then it happily nuzzled into her arms.
She secretly hummed a little tune, sneaking a glance at him. His determined profile and neatly trimmed sideburns were shrouded in shadows under the flickering streetlights, betraying no signs of emotion. Well, she never could tell his moods anyway...
She thought about it for a moment; whether he was pleased or irritated, she decided not to hold it against him! She had bitten him, yet he still helped her find the dog. That was enough to offset her annoyance at him for assisting Su Rongxing! Besides, it made sense—Su Rongxing was his sister after all, and he was bound to help her. What were she and him to each other anyway? Come to think of it, if she had a brother doting on her, she’d be just as spoiled! Truth was, she was just jealous that Su Rongxing had a great brother!
Once she figured that out, she resolved to let it go and asked him, "So, what’s your plan?"
"What plan?" He was driving, raindrops pattering against the windows in fine, rhythmic beats.
"You know... revenge..." She said it with a hint of reluctance.
He thought for a moment and said seriously, "First, I should probably get a rabies shot, don’t you think? Even though the puppy’s teeth are tiny, it still bites pretty painfully!"
"You..." He kept comparing her to a little dog, and was doing it with such a earnest look? "Haha! I’ve decided, tomorrow a real little snake will find its way onto Su Rongxing’s chair, and you can wait for it to bite your butt!"
He seemed to ignore what she was saying, continuing, "That’s the first thing. Secondly, aren’t there compensation fees for nutrition and emotional distress?"
"..." Was he trying to scam her? She blinked, "Mr. Su, you don’t seem like someone short on cash?"
"Thirdly..."
"There’s a third?" She was convinced he was trying to con her! Eye for an eye? Was he turning this into Su Rongxing’s revenge? Oh! Time really is a butcher’s knife! It killed her warm Brother Xu!
"Thirdly, as you mentioned, I’m not really short on money, so the first two points are meaningless to me."
"..." This guy never could speak like a normal person! "Then... what is it that you really want?"
"As a person, I have a thing for..." He paused, thinking aloud, "...returning the favor as it was dealt."
"..." Did that mean... Tu Hengsha wondered, was he planning to bite back? She sneaked another look at him before glancing at her own wrist, letting out a couple of awkward laughs, "Look at my hand, it’s dry and thin, not much to chew on, right? Wouldn’t it be more satisfying to gnaw on pig trotters? How about this, next time I’ll buy a bunch of braised pig trotters so you can have your fill! They’ll be tender and juicy, packed with collagen too!"
"That’s quite a suggestion..."
"Glad it’s settled then!" She clapped her hands, sealing the deal.
"I thought I’d be making snake soup tomorrow!" he said, his tone lazy and drawn-out.
"Haha! No way... that’s impossible! You misheard!" Anyway, there wasn’t a recording, just deny ever saying it!
He raised an eyebrow slightly but didn’t say anything more, quietly driving on.
Tu Hengsha, having retrieved Bangbangtang and resolved another big issue, was in a rather good mood. The silence between them even made the atmosphere in the car harmonious for a moment—however brief it was, one sudden comment from him shattered it.
"But, I never did get to settle things with Rongxing!"
"..." She decided she would continue to dislike him!
