Chapter 278: Chapter 268 I Want to Call the Police
If they keep fighting like this, someone will end up seriously hurt or even dead...
Su Ronggui stepped forward and held onto Su Rongyu.
"Second brother! Let me go! I’ll kill this bastard!" Su Rongyu struggled to get free.
Su Ronggui held him tightly, refusing to let go, "Calm down! If you kill him, you’re done for too!"
Su Rongyu was not listening to reason. He was just as tall as Su Ronggui, struggling left and right, nearly hitting Su Ronggui in the process.
It was Tu Hengsha’s words that finally quieted Su Rongyu.
"Su Rongyu, let Yueyue go peacefully."
Hearing these words, Su Rongyu froze completely, then buried his head on Su Ronggui’s shoulder and began to sob. As he cried, he accused, "She was so lovely, such a good girl. Why did you betray her? Why did you betray her... She liked you so much, yet you wronged her! If you didn’t like her, you shouldn’t have married her, and now you betray her... why?"
Su Ronggui sighed silently, only able to pat his foolish brother’s head.
Cui Pei was on the ground, covered in dust. He struggled to support his body with his arms, spitting out a few mouthfuls of blood. His glasses had fallen, and he didn’t bother picking them up. His face was full of scars, and he crawled halfway to Mr. and Mrs. Fan, kneeling and sobbing, "Dad, Mom, I’m sorry, I didn’t take good care of Yueyue."
Mrs. Fan turned her face away, tears streaming down, refusing to look at Cui Pei.
Cui Pei continued to kneel before Mr. and Mrs. Fan, bowing his head repeatedly, saying, "Dad, Mom, I’m sorry."
Finally, Mr. Fan spoke impatiently, "Enough, once you’re divorced, you have nothing to do with us. No need to call us Dad and Mom anymore!"
"No!" Cui Pei lay on the ground, crying, "I never truly wanted to divorce Yueyue. I made a mistake, but I never truly wronged Yueyue. Dad, Mom, I will always be your son."
Mrs. Fan was already a sobbing mess, refusing to acknowledge Cui Pei. Mr. Fan simply helped her away, not holding up the proceedings.
Cui Pei didn’t get up and stayed kneeling in a different direction until the cremation was over.
Mrs. Fan almost fainted from crying. When they left, she clutched the urn, weeping and calling out "Baby" all the way. Everyone present was moved to tears, and Cui Pei was crying bitterly too as he approached Mrs. Fan, wanting to take the urn.
Naturally, Mrs. Fan wouldn’t give it to him, causing him to kneel again, hugging her legs, sobbing and calling out "Mom," refusing to let her go.
Su Rongyu, still filled with anger, saw this as shameless behavior. He was enraged and grabbed Cui Pei, throwing another punch at him.
Cui Pei’s shirt was already stained with blood, and the punch caused him to stagger back a few steps before he steadied himself.
He wiped the corner of his lips, blood running down the back of his hand, looking at Su Rongyu. Despite the tears in his eyes, hatred started to burn, "Su Rongyu, the reason I’m not fighting back is that I’m hurting inside, I’m guilty. My conscience condemns me, maybe for a lifetime. I hope someone beats me, even if it’s to death. I wouldn’t blame them. But that doesn’t mean you have the right to hit me. The least qualified to hit me are you Sus. Instead of hating me for Yueyue, hate yourselves. Whatever happened between Yueyue and me, that’s between her and me. She’s my wife and has nothing to do with you! What involves you are your Su family, so if you have the guts, take it out on your own family, your good father, and mother! They’re the culprits!"
"You’re talking nonsense!" Su Rongyu, about to charge forward again, was held back once more by Su Ronggui.
"Am I talking nonsense? Ask your own brother behind you, or your sister-in-law. They know better than you do! Fool!" Cui Pei spat, and out came a tooth with the blood.
Su Rongyu was bewildered, turning to Su Ronggui. Su Ronggui couldn’t nod or shake his head, only holding him tightly, trying to suppress his agitated emotions.
Su Rongyu then looked at Tu Hengsha.
Tu Hengsha averted her gaze as well. She only provided the evidence; it was up to the police to solve the case, so she couldn’t provide a definitive answer at the moment.
So, Su Rongyu turned back to Cui Pei.
"No need to look at me or to look at me with such hatred. I might not see the sunrise tomorrow. I’ve been hiding these days, only avoiding the Su family’s disregard for the law. If you truly hate me, go home and report me, perhaps I’ll be dealt with too!" After saying this, Cui Pei glanced back at Mr. and Mrs. Fan, "Dad, Mom, I know you can’t forgive me now, so I’ll leave for now. I’ll come back later to honor you."
"There’s no need!" Mr. Fan said angrily.
Cui Pei didn’t say any more, limping away.
Su Rongyu, eyes red, questioned his brother, "What is he talking about? What is Cui Pei saying?" Shouting this, he didn’t wait for his brother’s reply, immediately shoved Su Ronggui aside, and ran madly to his car, hitting the gas and speeding home.
He kicked the door open, the house eerily quiet, radiating a strange oppression.
He ran up and down, seeing no one. His parents, older brother, and younger sister were nowhere to be found.
Vaguely, he heard some noise from the study and kicked that door open too.
There, he saw his father and mother sitting in the study, their faces heavy. Beside his father was a full ashtray.
Seeing his younger son like this, Su Zhen immediately got angry, "What’s going on? Don’t you have any manners! Get out!"
On ordinary days, Shang Qingmei would definitely protect her son, especially when accused of lacking manners, which was essentially an insult to their parenting. But now she was in no mood. Their son’s recklessness filled her with anxiety and heartbreak. What would become of this son who knew nothing?
Su Rongyu completely ignored his father’s anger, taking a few steps forward and glaring, asking, "Is Fan Yue’s death related to you?"
Su Zhen threw the ashtray directly at him, "Use your brain!"
Su Rongyu didn’t dodge. The ashtray hit his chest square on, ash spilling everywhere, "Is it? What exactly did you do? What did you do that’s so shameful?"
Su Zhen clutched his chest, feeling as though his lungs were in pain, "What sin did I commit in my past life to have a son like you! Shameful? Without shameful things, you wouldn’t even have something to eat! How do you think you have today’s lavish life of luxury?"
Su Rongyu looked at Su Zhen as if he didn’t recognize him, shook his head, and stepped back, "That’s not it... That’s not how you raised me... I’m going to the police! I’m going to report this!"
He turned and ran, with Su Zhen roaring behind, "You fool! Get back here!"
Just then, several strangers entered from downstairs, halting Su Rongyu in his tracks.
They were the police.
"Hello, is Mr. Su Zhen home?" The police showed their credentials and the arrest warrant.
Su Rongyu instinctively looked upstairs.
The police quickly headed upstairs.
Su Rongyu heard the voice from above, "Is Su Zhen here? We’re the police and suspect you are involved in a murder..."
After that, Su Rongyu couldn’t hear clearly. All he felt was a buzzing in his brain, and then he witnessed his father being brought down by the police. As they passed by, his father glanced at him, just one glance, and he couldn’t even understand what it meant before the police took him away.
