Mr. Su's Love Investigation Report
Chapter 244 - 235 Sweater

Chapter 244: Chapter 235 Sweater

Su Ronggui woke up slightly late the next day, all because of being overly excited the night before. Even a cold shower hadn’t helped, so it was a rare morning of chaos.

The sweaters he often wore hadn’t been washed yet; the ones he had sent for cleaning hadn’t been returned, according to Sister Qian. He had some new ones—Tu Hengsha had collected them last time, but he didn’t know where that guy had put them and just couldn’t find them.

He circled around his room, and his eyes landed on the sweater Chen Qi had given him. It was only then that he looked at it carefully—it was from the brand he usually wore, and should suit him well.

In his urgency, he decided to wear it.

He wore the new sweater to the dining room, where Chen Qi was feeding Nuonuo some steamed eggs. Nuonuo had seen the sweater before and immediately pointed at him with a tiny finger, "Uncle’s wearing new clothes."

Chen Qi’s eyes lit up slightly, and she smiled, "Looks pretty good."

"Morning." He nodded, being somewhat unaccustomed to attention on his attire and appearance, he hurriedly grabbed a few pastries and left, rushing for time, fearing he’d be late.

When he went to pick up his girlfriend, Tu Hengsha noticed his new clothes immediately but didn’t think much of it, only concerned, "Did you sleep well last night?"

"Not bad," he said, with two dark circles under his eyes.

"This is ’not bad’?" She was rather worried, "Did you see the message I sent you last night?"

"I did!" What kind of a jumble was it? Seven reasons why adults can’t sleep! Staying up late has become the second biggest health killer after cancer! Five methods to cure insomnia! Even Cui Yongyuan’s tricks for treating insomnia! Gao Xiaosong says insomnia is related to ten bad lifestyle habits! ...Such things filled his screen.

"You have to follow them," she advised him sincerely.

"What’s the plan for today?" He wanted to avoid another full screen of middle-aged health tips.

"Hao Ren is still working on the domestic violence special. We’re visiting a few cases. Honestly, I never thought the most real case would be so close to us. How can someone hurt the one they vowed to cherish? Xiao Xu, will you ever hit me?"

She thought for a moment and glared at him indignantly, "No, you already do! You get mean for no reason! You even hit my butt!"

"..." He maintained a serious face, "Isn’t it the same? More mischief and more spanking!"

"..." Her eyes rolled mischievously.

"What are you plotting now?"

"Nothing!" She blinked innocently and motioned for him to stop the car.

Once he stopped, she leaped over and gave him a big kiss on the cheek, "I get affectionate when you’re mad, let’s see if you dare spank me now!"

He couldn’t hold back and burst into laughter, "Chen Qi says I’m going to have a daughter. I should pray she doesn’t take after you. Just one of you is overwhelming for me—another one would be my end!"

The two bantered all the way to the newspaper office, then went their separate ways for their respective interviews. Su Ronggui reminded her to call him after she finished so he could pick her up and they could have dinner in the alley together. She agreed.

However, her work with Hao Ren wrapped up early, finishing before four, so she headed back to the alley on her own.

First, she went into his room to change out of her cumbersome winter clothes and found some packaging boxes left on his desk. She thought to throw them out, but then she noticed the writing on the boxes.

The sweater was indeed from his usual brand; most of his sweatshirts, sweaters, and coats were. But the label on the box was addressed to Chen Qi. Inside, there was also a postcard written to Chen Qi.

She recalled the new sweater he wore that morning.

Silently, she tidied up the box and tossed it into the trash.

By the afternoon, Sister Qian was supposed to have tidied up the room, and any trash should have been thrown out already.

She rolled up her sleeves and went to the kitchen, smiling, "Sister Qian, I’ll cook a dish today."

"Aren’t you tired from work?" Sister Qian smiled warmly.

"Not at all! I boasted that I’d cook for Mr. Su. Today, he’ll taste my skills!" She opened the fridge to find ingredients.

Sister Qian laughed, "Alright, then I’ll help you."

Sister Qian cleaned up the vegetable scraps in the kitchen and threw them in the outside trash bin. When she saw the discarded packaging box, the corner of her lips twitched slightly.

Su Ronggui didn’t get back until after dark and immediately asked Tu Hengsha why she hadn’t waited for him. She presented him with a pot of stew to smell, "I just wanted to come back early and cook for you! So you can’t say your girlfriend is useless!"

His expression softened a bit, though he still emphasized, "In the future, wait for me. Otherwise, call Su Rongyu—it’s not safe to be alone!"

Ever since the subway incident, he had truly treated her like a child...

She ignored his nagging and fed him a spoonful of soup, "Taste good?"

He couldn’t resist, took a sip, and nodded approvingly, "Not bad."

She put down the spoon and pouted, "I want a reward!"

"..." He was a bit helpless, "Go to the room; people could pass by the dining room at any moment."

She insisted, pulling him down for a kiss.

He was amused yet exasperated, lowering his head to give her a peck, but she grabbed his neck and kissed him passionately until Su Rongyu’s voice rang out, "Oh, what am I witnessing? Not kid-friendly!"

Only then did Tu Hengsha let him go. At the west end of the courtyard, Chen Qi had emerged with the child, though when was not clear.

Su Ronggui frowned, visibly displeased, "Why are you here again?"

Su Rongyu exploded, "What do you mean ’again’? Are you even my brother? I come to my brother’s house, and you say ’again’—what do you mean by that?"

"Just what it says!" Su Ronggui retreated inside to change clothes.

Tu Hengsha followed him in.

Once inside, he took off his coat, revealing the sweater beneath.

She had a slightly surprised look, "Oh, wearing new clothes!"

"Yeah."

"Not so good looking!"

"..." He turned and looked at her, slightly surprised—she never commented on what he wore.

"Too mature!"

"I’ve always dressed maturely!" He started searching the closet for a casual sweatshirt.

"But now some people already say you look like my dad. If you dress this maturely, they’ll really think you’re my dad! Do you want to be my boyfriend or my dad?"

He gave her a glance, went in, changed out of the sweater, and tossed it to her, "Alright, alright, I won’t wear it then."

With a bang, the door swung open as Su Rongyu rushed in breathlessly, stripped down to his undershirt, "Freezing here, freezing! Second brother, the guest room’s water heater’s broken! I can’t shower—I’m freezing, I’ll shower here."

Without any consent, he barged into the bathroom.

A while later, his exaggerated shout echoed, "Second brother, I didn’t bring clothes to change into, bring yours in for me ahhhh!"

"..." Su Ronggui was speechless, grabbing that sweater and finding a pair of pants for him, he shoved them inside.

"Ahhhh, I need underwear too!"

"..." Su Ronggui’s face turned dark, prompting Tu Hengsha to leave first.

Tu Hengsha also felt it was awkward to hear two men discuss underwear and left, closing the door behind her. She then heard Su Rongyu continue to make a racket inside, unsure what Su Ronggui was doing to him.
