Mr. Su's Love Investigation Report -
Chapter 170 Outsider
Chapter 170: Chapter 170 Outsider
Grandma Xu instinctively took a step back, and Su Ronggui supported her, standing side by side, facing the two people approaching.
Shang Qingmei’s face was gloomy, completely out of tune with the clear breeze and bright moon tonight.
"Where did you go?"
Suddenly, clouds came to cover the full moon in the sky, and the dark night felt oppressive.
Su Ronggui was about to speak when Grandma Xu interjected, "Gugu accompanied me out for a meal, and we took a walk."
Shang Qingmei didn’t say a word, only keeping her sharp eyes fixed on Su Ronggui.
Su Rongxing couldn’t hold it in anymore and said with a smile, "Grandma, you went out with Su Ronggui to celebrate, and Aunt and I have been waiting for you here for quite some time."
Grandma Xu’s stiff arm softened, and she smiled, "I didn’t know you were coming. My apologies. Or... how about coming in now for a while?"
Su Rongxing was all smiles and was about to agree when Shang Qingmei, with a cold face, said, "No need."
Su Rongxing puckered her lips in displeasure, but Grandma Xu kept smiling, "That’s fine. It’s late, better to go back and rest early."
Shang Qingmei didn’t look at Grandma Xu at all, glaring only straight at her son, "It’s a holiday, everyone knows to come home. You give a gift, send a message, and who’s that for? Is this your filial piety? Do I, as your mother, have to come to pay for the holiday? Is this your filial piety?"
Su Rongxing wasn’t pleased and replied, "Su Ronggui did come home, okay? And paid respects to Dad! You’re the one who wasn’t here. During the holiday, you went shopping with those so-called ladies until dinner time. Who’s to blame?"
"You..." Shang Qingmei was furious at Su Rongxing’s retort, regretting bringing along someone so useless!
"Dad already said, let him stay at home to keep Grandma company during the holiday. One of the most important virtues is filial piety—respect for the elders. When you grow old like Grandma, Su Ronggui will naturally accompany you! Besides, don’t you cling to Dad all the time? So much so that I can’t even get close to Dad. How many people do you want to cling to?"
"..." Shang Qingmei wished she could slap Su Rongxing! This idiot was wholeheartedly siding with Su Ronggui.
"Rongxing!" Ultimately, Su Ronggui interrupted Su Rongxing’s "nonsense" and then looked at Shang Qingmei, "Mom, I..."
"No need to call me Mom! Don’t call me Mom!" Shang Qingmei was full of anger, and after Su Rongxing’s uproar, her temper flared with no place to vent, such that she poured it all on Su Ronggui, turned, and got into the car.
Su Rongxing dawdled, not wanting to leave. Su Ronggui said, "You should go back too."
"Su Ronggui... I want to stay and eat mooncakes with you and admire the moon..." Her eyes had a hint of resentment, "I helped you today!"
He sighed, "It’s really unnecessary. I know my mom’s personality."
"Hmph!" Su Rongxing puckered her lips, "I know, you just don’t want me to stay! You’re not the same Su Ronggui as before anymore!"
He was silent, which could be taken as acknowledgment.
"I... I... I regret coming to see you!" She turned and ran off, but still unwilling, she turned back to ask him, "Do you really not want me to stay?"
He pondered for a moment, finally saying, "You should just go back early."
"You... heartless!" Although annoyed, she got into the car and vented her anger all on Shang Qingmei, "In the future, teach your son however you want! I won’t help him anymore!"
Shang Qingmei knew she had not fared well with Su Ronggui, which made her feel much better.
Su Ronggui had let go of Grandma and walked towards the Su family’s car.
Just as he reached the window and called out "Mom," Shang Qingmei coldly instructed the driver, "Drive."
In the end, Su Ronggui couldn’t say a word, watching helplessly as the car drove away.
Grandma Xu smiled, "Your mom is just this way, don’t take it to heart."
"Mm," he said softly, "I know. It’s just her way of making me go to her and admit my mistakes and yield tomorrow."
Grandma Xu held his hand, "In the future, you should prioritize your mom in everything. No matter what, Grandma will be fine."
"Grandma, I understand. Don’t worry, let’s go inside, it’s windy out here." Su Ronggui helped Grandma inside.
"Alright." Together, they walked into the small courtyard.
The mid-autumn in the small courtyard offered a unique view.
The night breeze dispersed the clouds, and the bright moon shone overhead with a silver glow. A few courtyard lamps reflected off the moonlight, and the tea table was already set with mooncakes, and sweet-scented osmanthus tea brewed. The earthly beauty was nothing but the fragrance of osmanthus in August.
The ones enjoying this beautiful scenery at the moment were Cui Pei and Fan Yue.
"Grandma, you’re back? Come enjoy the moon with us!" Fan Yue stepped forward and supported Grandma Xu.
"No, no." Grandma Xu waved her hand smiling, "You youngsters should enjoy yourselves, I don’t want to be in the way! By the way, did you eat the mooncakes and sweet-scented osmanthus tea I left for you?"
"We did! The mooncakes were delicious! The tea was fragrant! Thank you, Grandma!" Fan Yue hurriedly replied.
"If it’s good, have more! Grandma is getting old and not that capable, so I can only make you a few edible things. Just don’t find it distasteful!" Grandma Xu smiled as she gestured for Fan Yue to sit down, "Don’t mind me, you two enjoy yourselves. I need to rest now."
"Then should Mr. Su join us for a while?" Cui Pei extended an invitation.
"No." Su Ronggui’s expression was calm, "I won’t disturb your time together."
"What are you saying!" Cui Pei laughed.
Su Ronggui said nothing more, assisting Grandma back to her room.
"Grandma, in the future, please don’t discuss our family’s affairs with Cui Pei and Fan Yue." Back in the room, he closed the door and softly advised.
"Why? Isn’t Yueyue a good friend of that girl?" Naturally, Grandma Xu trusted her grandson, though she did not understand what happened.
"It’s nothing. There are just some things that outsiders shouldn’t know, no matter the relationship with Tu Hengsha." His gaze passed through the window, looking at the two people in the courtyard enjoying the moon.
"Alright, Grandmother understands." Grandma Xu promptly agreed.
Indeed, Grandma Xu was tired after a day, quickly falling asleep after freshening up. Half of the lights in the small courtyard went out, while Cui Pei and Fan Yue continued enjoying the moonlight by the courtyard lamps.
"Wife, on such a beautiful night, isn’t it a shame to be out here in the wind, feeding mosquitoes?" Cui Pei pinched Fan Yue’s hand.
Fan Yue gave him a sideways glance, "I can tell you have no good intentions!"
"Wife..."
"But I can’t bear to miss this bright moon now! Cui Pei, we haven’t truly celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival properly in a long time, with you busy or me busy. Cui Pei, I want to stroll through the food street."
"Now?" Cui Pei looked at the time; it was nearly midnight.
"Right now!"
"Alright! I’ll go with you! Whatever you want to do, I’ll accompany you! Climbing mountains and descending into fiery pits, I’ll go with you!"
Fan Yue laughed, "Cui Pei, you’re so good."
"You’re my wife, if I’m not good to you, who else should I be good to? I promised when I married you that I’d make you the happiest woman!"
