Chapter 228: 224, Everyone must take responsibility for their own mistakes.
Mother Ariana Evans worked at the hospital and was on guard against her, so Titus Zane had to find another hospital that had no interactions with her.
As a private detective, Jon thought more thoroughly and cautiously.
Worried that someone might follow Titus Zane’s actions and report to Ariana Evans, he suggested that he should send the two hairs to the hospital for identification himself.
What made Titus Zane both cry and laugh was that before leaving, Jon seriously disguised himself by applying a beard and dyeing his eyebrows white, making himself totally unrecognizable. Titus Zane almost failed to recognize him.
The identification would take a few days to yield results; they booked plane tickets to the Imperial Capital for the next day and flew there the next morning.
After finding a hotel and settling in, Jon took Titus Zane for a walk outside.
It was deep autumn, but the temperature in the Imperial Capital was still at the end of summer.
The tourists in the streets were still wearing thin shirts and T-shirts.
Titus Zane also shed her thick coat, wore a black floral long skirt, her brown big waves naturally hanging in front of her chest and at the back of her head, as she walked on the street, several male tourists from abroad greeted her with smiles, "You are very beautiful."
Titus Zane gladly accepted such direct compliments, as boys and girls from abroad were more enthusiastic than those from her own country; they would openly praise things or people they liked, without any hidden agendas.
Jon was unhappy; he felt as if his personal belonging was being eyed and took Titus Zane’s wrist, hooked it within his arm, and said seriously, "Carry, we are here for serious business. It’s better to be cautious in these places."
Aware of Jon’s little schemes, Titus Zane didn’t expose them.
Jon took Titus Zane to the tourist spot where they last had an accidental encounter with Abigail Zimmerman but didn’t encounter her again; then they went to the same coffee shop they had talked last time, ordered coffee, enjoying the simple pleasures while tasting them.
After taking a sip of coffee, Titus Zane looked at the carefree man across from her.
"Didn’t you say you had a way to find her? Are you still hoping for an encounter like last time?"
With coffee cup in hand, Jon withdrew his gaze from the window, took a sip, and casually asked, "Carry, are you questioning my capabilities?"
"I’m not questioning your capabilities; as a party involved, I have the right to know what you are going to do next," Titus Zane said earnestly, accustomed to the way foreigners communicate.
"Don’t worry, I’ll take you there tomorrow."
"You know where she lives?"
Curiously, Titus Zane asked. Jon awkwardly smirked and muttered to himself, "And you said you’re not questioning my capabilities."
After speaking, he took a sip of coffee and frowned, complaining, "This is terrible coffee; I can’t imagine how anyone can drink this."
"Of course, people do, like you and me,"
Titus Zane cracked a joke, and Jon laughed too.
In the Imperial Capital, a certain courtyard house.
Before leaving the house, Evander Lancaster sternly reminded his wife, "Abigail, in the future, don’t just go recognizing any girl who slightly resembles Noelle as kin. The other day, Old Wang mentioned that a foreigner is asking around about Noelle; you know what the consequences would be if Dad found out."
"But just letting Noelle die unclearly and having her daughter recognize the enemy as her mother?" As Abigail Zimmerman fixed her husband’s tie, she stood by unwillingly to leave.
"Dad said, consider that gunshot as avenging Noelle!"
"But that man is not dead!" Mentioning the events of that year, Abigail Zimmerman felt indignant; Noelle was so young, still a child, and then...
A displeasure tinted Evander Lancaster’s eyes, "Dad said, everyone in this family must bear the consequences for their own mistakes!"
