"Sister-in-law!" Long Tianjiao’s gaze shifted. "Help me summon some brats to give her a good scare, frighten her to death; that’ll serve her right!"

Long Yubei raised an eyebrow, displeased. "Is your sister-in-law your servant, at your beck and call?"

"I just can’t stand it."

"Can’t stand it then keep suffering," Long Yubei said indifferently. "Since you’re not beaten to death, I can rest easy. Alright, lie down in the hospital. Your sister-in-law and I will head back now."

With that, the two of them left.

Leaving behind a stunned Long Family.

Once they were out of the ward, Gu Lili was in high spirits. "Were you defending me just now?"

"Or was I defending a little puppy?"

"Who are you calling a little puppy, you’re the little puppy," she punched him.

A hint of a smile appeared in Long Yubei’s dark eyes as he left the inpatient department with her, heading towards the parking lot.

Just after getting into the car, Gu Lili’s phone rang again. She looked down; it was another strange number from the city.

Gu Lili had a hunch that it might be the person whose number she had previously blocked.

She pressed the answer button, "Hello."

"Gu Lili, our Master wants to meet you."

The same sentence again.

"Don’t play games; who the hell is this?"

"You’ll know when you meet. If you don’t come, do you expect our Master to personally come find you?"

"If he wants to see me, let him come. I’m ready anytime."

"You don’t have the status to warrant our Master actively seeking you out."

She hung up the phone, especially annoyed with such mystifying tactics, "I’m supposed to meet just because they say so, without even a name?"

"Try to avoid going out these days if it’s not necessary."

"Alright, it’s not like I have anything to do anyway," she agreed.

After returning home and freshening up, the couple held each other and fell asleep.

At midnight, Gu Lili’s phone rang incessantly. She thought it was someone else but turned out to be Mr. Gu calling.

What could he want calling her so late at night?

She answered, "What is it?"

"..."

"What?!" Gu Lili sat up straight. "Really?"

"..."

"I understand."

She then called Gu Xichen, but unsurprisingly, his phone was turned off.

Long Yubei opened his eyes and asked, "What happened?"

"Gu Xichen has been kidnapped. The caller said they would only release him if I go there myself," her eyes blazed with anger. "It must be the person who called me, their aim is to make me meet them."

"I’ll go with you."

"No need for you to get up; it’s useless, they specifically said I had to go alone."

He grabbed her wrist, "You’re not allowed to go, you’re clearly walking into their trap."

"But what about Gu Xichen?"

"His life and death aren’t your concern," Long Yubei pulled her back into his arms. "Leave him."

"He is my Master’s only biological son." Gu Lili let out a deep breath, "Moreover, it’s clear that those people want to meet me, that’s why they’ve taken Gu Xichen. He’s in this situation because of me; morally and emotionally, I can’t just ignore it."

"Once they see Gu Xichen can’t threaten you, they will release him."

"And what if they kill him?" She furrowed her brows. "I must go."

Ignoring his restraint, she quickly dressed and rushed out of the bedroom.

She had just driven out of Qin Garden when the strange phone called again, the voice smug, "I hope Gu Lili you arrive at the Magic Tea House in the Water Scenic Area within ten minutes, otherwise, you’ll be seeing your Master’s son’s corpse."

She cut off the call, floored the gas pedal, and sped towards the destination.
