Chapter 154: Chapter 154: A Nighttime Gathering (1)
The woman’s face morphed into an even more terrifying appearance, but Gu Lili was fearless, "Put away your little scare tactics, I’ve grown up seeing things like you since I was a kid, you can’t frighten me."
"You can’t scare me either." The woman said coldly, her eyes like two bloody cavities, "Someone will come to rescue me soon, and you, if you don’t release me now, you, this rare Spiritualist, will also die a silent death."
"Then let’s see whose journey is quicker—yours to the underworld or my silent demise."
"They’re here." The woman’s eyes glanced into the distance. Gu Lili turned around to see a gust of wind approaching, and a man in a black robe standing there.
Compared to the woman’s horrific face, this man had a rather pleasant appearance.
He thought his wind could blow away the five talisman papers on the woman’s body, but it was utterly useless.
"Don’t waste your effort." Gu Lili curled her lips, "My talisman papers cannot be blown away."
"Just let her go, we’ll drop this business deal."
Gu Lili realized from their conversation that these two exchanged the lives of others for profit, something she found absolutely intolerable.
"Is it really up to you to call it off now?"
Gu Lili had no intention of releasing her. She would take care of every Dead Soul that plagued the mortal world she encountered, without mercy!
"I know what you do, and we have no grudges or debts of gratitude and resentment between us, I don’t want to fight with you, don’t provoke me." The man’s voice was extremely cold, and he clearly was not an easy target.
Gu Lili scoffed, "Who is provoking who? You’re targeting my family, and still act so self-righteous?"
"I see you are young, and I don’t want to quibble with you. Don’t be unreasonable when you’re right."
"You’re wrong." Gu Lili stood her ground firmly, "I don’t just argue when I’m right, I show no mercy when I’m right. You are the ones who truly provoked me!"
The man pulled out a Longsword from his back and swung at Gu Lili. This Longsword wasn’t a tangible weapon, but Gu Lili knew that such a weapon was specifically designed to target Spiritual Practitioners like her.
If sliced by it, she wouldn’t bleed or sustain bone-deep injuries, but her vitality would drastically diminish. If struck multiple times, she would become very weak.
Fortunately, she was prepared.
She first threw out dozens of talisman papers, completely surrounding his Longsword. The man was shocked, not expecting her talisman papers to be so effective and then changed tactics.
But unfortunately for him.
Gu Lili then pulled out a soft long whip from her waist, smeared with dog’s blood that Dead Souls fear, and lashed it out. It seemed to hit nothing, but in fact, it squarely struck his body.
The man cried out in pain, and before he could use his Assassin’s trick, he was also subdued by her talisman papers.
Like the woman, except for his mouth, he couldn’t move any other part of his body.
"Young man, you’ve underestimated your opponent," Gu Lili put away her whip, "Whoever it is that’s making deals with you, I’ll find out through other means. As for the two of you, I no longer feel like interrogating you. You seem to have lived for a few hundred years at least, what level of cultivation have you reached? To fall into my hands like this, truly a pity."
Seeing that she was about to make a move, the man urgently spoke, "Wait!"
Gu Lili stopped, "Any last words?"
"If we told you everything, would you spare us?"
