Mr. Bigshot Is Obsessed with His Hidden-Marriage Wife -
Chapter 95: I admit defeat
Chapter 95: Chapter 95: I admit defeat
"Dr. Ye, do you know what an original family is?" Li Xi snuggled against the white horse as if seeking some kind of support, "I was born in the countryside and have a younger brother who is five years younger than me. Throughout my life, everything at home was prioritized for him. Even though I got into Aus City University, my family wouldn’t let me continue my education. They wouldn’t give me the tuition fees; I had to earn it myself. But working at a small restaurant washing dishes, I didn’t know how long it would take to save enough tuition. Someone introduced me to work as a waitress in a club, and that’s where I met Mr. Liang. At first, he respected me, paid my tuition fees upfront, and I would pay him back when I earned the money. He told people he was pursuing me. I was naive at that time, thinking I was lucky enough to be noticed by such a quality man. I accepted his pursuit, and he immediately took me to a hotel. After a while, he began making me accompany him and his friends, sitting drinking while they harassed me. Although it hadn’t reached the point where I had to sleep with them, I knew it was just a matter of time. I didn’t want to become that kind of woman, but I couldn’t get away from him because I needed his money."
Li Xiwang turned to Ye Yan and smiled, "Dr. Ye, do you think I’m shameful, speaking righteous words while doing indecent things? What’s even more absurd is that I’m just a student, yet my parents ask me every day for money because my brother needs to attend high school, attend tutoring, travel, have fancy meals. When I say I don’t have it, they say there are plenty of rich people in the city, and I’m pretty after all. They might as well be straightforward and tell me to sell myself, right? They didn’t give birth to a daughter but a money-making machine, a puppet who must sacrifice everything for her brother. If I don’t give money, they make a fuss, calling and causing scenes at school. My mother even falsely claimed she had consumed pesticide at home just to trick me into going back to get money, haha."
Ye Yan didn’t know how to comfort her. Perhaps her fortune compared to Li Xi was that Ye Zhun wasn’t her leech; he would always stand by her side, "So when you have enough money, what do you want to do?"
"I want to leave Ao City, go inland or abroad, as long as I’m far enough away to escape them."
Li Xi stopped talking about herself and smiled, "Dr. Ye, it’s different for you; Mr. Fu treats you very well, sincerely. Although I haven’t experienced much, I can tell. So, I hope the two of you will last a long time."
After speaking, she saw Fu Xingzhou leading a horse over and waved goodbye to Ye Yan before leaving.
"Lately, you’ve become quite the chatterbox, able to talk a bit with everyone." Fu Xingzhou bent down to check her ankle, "Does it still hurt?"
"Not much, but definitely no riding."
"You won’t be doing the riding." Fu Xingzhou lifted her onto the horse, "You just need to save your energy to ride me."
"Fu Xingzhou!" Ye Yan glared with her phoenix eyes, this man always being so improper. Did his subordinates know about his rogue nature in private?
Fu Xingzhou chuckled softly, seized the reins with one hand, and swiftly mounted the horse.
His figure floated before firmly sitting on the horse.
Ye Yan didn’t see clearly how he got on the horse; only her surroundings flashed and suddenly, a person was behind her.
His chest was tightly pressed against her back, his arms holding the reins encircling her securely.
"Hold onto this handle of the saddle." His deep, magnetic voice sounded by her ear, "If you’re scared, close your eyes and feel the wind; if not, enjoy the thrill of the ride."
Ye Yan was somewhat scared, gripping the saddle tightly, but thinking of Fu Xingzhou behind her, she felt there was nothing to fear.
Whatever happened, Fu Xingzhou would definitely not let her fall.
Fu Xingzhou first let the horse trot leisurely around the ranch, and once Ye Yan gradually got used to the feel of the horse, he clamped his feet on the horse’s belly, letting the animal pick up speed.
On one side of the horse ranch was a lush green mountain where a Hunting Ground was under construction, still in the final stages.
Once completed, it would be the largest hunting ground in both Hong Kong and Ao City, named one of Ao City’s tourism industry’s three giants.
While they were leisurely riding, they suddenly heard the sound of rapid running close by.
Soon, two fast horses rushed in from the other side of the racetrack, their riders appearing to be in a race, nearly neck and neck, neither yielding to the other.
The horses passed in front of him, and Ye Yan recognized the one in the black riding attire as Meng Tian, while the other was Tang Jingyao.
"Are they racing?"
Fu Xingzhou, however, looked into the distance and said in a deep voice, "There is a big river over there, which is the boundary between the racetrack and the Hunting Ground. They’re still building a bridge."
The direction Meng Tian and Tang Jingyao were heading was exactly where the big river was located.
For safety reasons, the racetrack had professional barriers installed to prevent horses from running towards the river, but because they were building the bridge, that section of the barriers had not been installed yet, and today, the racetrack’s manager had reminded everyone not to go to the northwest.
"Let’s take a look." Fu Xingzhou turned his horse’s head and chased after the two trails of dust.
Meng Tian had practiced horse riding since she was young and had even participated in amateur horse races during university. She did not expect Tang Jingyao to be equally formidable; the two of them had been racing for so long without a clear winner.
Hooves trod over the grass, and nearby stood a conspicuous warning sign: Big river ahead, entry prohibited.
Meng Tian acted as if she hadn’t seen the warning sign and charged straight ahead, while Tang Jingyao, after a glance, quickly caught up.
They could hear the roaring river not far away.
The river was several zhang wide, deep and fast-flowing, particularly here in the downstream, where the waves churned and the waters roared.
"There’s a river ahead, are you insane?" Tang Jingyao’s horse was abreast with Meng Tian’s, the wind almost scattering his voice.
"Scared? It’s not too late to admit defeat now." Meng Tian paid him no heed, her hair flying behind her helmet, her solemn and resolute expression giving her the bearing of a heroic female warrior on the battlefield.
Tang Jingyao paused, finding his gaze lingering on her face for a few seconds, their distance, already widened, grew even more.
He spurred his horse into a gallop and caught up.
The big river stretched out before them, broader than they had imagined.
The river raged; if the horses dashed directly into it, they would certainly be swept away, leading to their destruction and likely death.
"Meng Tian, you’re insane." Tang Jingyao, seeing Meng Tian’s horse showing no signs of slowing, clenched his teeth.
He had never realized before that this woman was a madwoman. Was she not afraid of dying?
Meng Tian ignored him completely, not only maintaining her speed but even accelerating straight towards the river.
Tang Jingyao, seeing her getting closer and closer to the water, could only shout loudly, "I admit defeat."
