Mr. Bigshot Is Obsessed with His Hidden-Marriage Wife -
Chapter 126: Couple Accessories
Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Couple Accessories
The mall was too noisy, so Fu Xingzhou walked to a secluded spot to answer the phone.
"Sir, there’s been a problem here."
After listening to the other party’s report, Fu Xingzhou’s mood visibly became agitated, "How could this happen, forget it, I’ll go back and make a decision later."
He looked toward the nearby chairs, where Ye Yan was sitting and admiring some trinkets she had just bought.
The mall’s lighting fell upon her face, outlining a faint halo—that alluring beauty that he felt was within reach, yet suddenly seemed so far away.
Ye Yan had bought two fuzzy pendants that could be hung on a backpack.
One for herself, and one intended for Meng Tian.
"This one is for me." A hand suddenly reached over her shoulder and snatched one of her fuzzy pendants.
"What do you want this for?" Ye Yan teased him, "This is for girls."
"To hang in the car." Fu Xingzhou shook the pendant in his hand, "Hang yours in the car too."
Ye Yan knew that Fu Xingzhou wouldn’t like such juvenile things—it was probably impulsive after seeing someone else with it.
Most of the people who came to watch the movies were couples, many wearing matching outfits or accessories.
Was he trying to make them appear more like a couple?
"The movie is about to start, let’s go in," Ye Yan wasn’t stingy with a small pendant, if he liked it, then he could take it.
However, Fu Xingzhou didn’t move, looking at her with eyes full of apology, "Sorry, Yanyan, I have an urgent matter and need to return to Hong Kong."
"Now?" Ye Yan glanced at her watch.
"Yes."
Although Ye Yan felt a bit sulky, she thought of his status and position—deciding to head back at once, there must be something very important.
"Do you want me to take you home first?"
"No need." Ye Yan raised her movie ticket, "Since we’re here, not watching would be a waste, you go on with your business, I’ll watch alone."
"Okay then, stay safe, and call me when you get home."
Fu Xingzhou stepped forward and hugged her; if it weren’t for the people passing by, it wouldn’t have been just a simple hug.
Ye Yan hugged him back, "Hurry along, have a smooth trip."
Fu Xingzhou watched Ye Yan enter the movie theater to check her ticket before he started to leave.
As the crowd queued and passed by, Ye Yan held the two movie tickets, standing to one side of the checkpoint and watching Fu Xingzhou’s back.
He must really be in a rush, taking hurried steps while making a phone call.
Soon, his figure disappeared into the elevator.
Suddenly, Ye Yan also lost the desire to watch the movie, but since she was already there, she simply followed the crowd into the hall.
The movie was a recent release and very popular.
Ye Yan sat in the third row on the left, the seat to her right remained empty.
All around her were couples, only she sat alone munching on popcorn.
As the movie began, she took a photo and sent it to Fu Xingzhou.
Fu Xingzhou must have been busy; he didn’t reply immediately.
Only close to the end of the movie did he reply with two words: Sorry.
Ye Yan never pried into what kept Fu Xingzhou busy, but his mood recently seemed off.
He rarely brought the emotions from work into their life, so it must not have been work that was causing him stress.
She also closely followed Mr. Fu’s health, which hadn’t improved but was relatively stable.
What struck her as odd was that, when they were alone together, he would always gaze at her in a daze, his eyes ostensibly fixed on her face, yet as if shrouded in thick fog.
The emotions behind that gaze were indistinct.
When she tried to probe, he would conceal them well.
She even suspected that he might have fallen for someone else.
But he was still so thoughtful and considerate towards her, even more attached to her than before.
Ye Yan couldn’t figure it out, so she simply let her thoughts return to the movie.
After the movie ended, she saw Lin Yihang.
By Lin Yihang’s side was a charming young lady, tall and with both a pleasant appearance and a distinguished aura.
Together with Lin Yihang, they made a strikingly attractive couple, a pleasing sight to the eye.
Just as Ye Yan was about to sneak away pretending not to have seen them, Lin Yihang spotted her in the crowd and called out from a distance, "Ye Yan."
After that, he strode over to her, leaving the young lady trailing behind him.
"Do you come to see movies by yourself?" Lin Yihang noticed that there was no one with Ye Yan and felt a fine joy blooming in his heart.
"Yeah," Ye Yan smiled at him, "What a coincidence."
At this moment, the young lady approached and after sizing up Ye Yan, quickly extended her hand with a smile, "Hello, I’m Wang Yihan, I’m Yihang’s..."
"Blind date," Lin Yihang interrupted Wang Yihan’s words, "Introduced by a friend."
A flash of embarrassment crossed Wang Yihan’s face.
Although what Lin Yihang said was not wrong—that they did indeed meet on a blind date—her impression of Lin Yihang was extremely favorable. Young and successful, handsome, and a renowned figure in the legal world.
What woman wouldn’t adore such a man? To say it was love at first sight would not be an exaggeration.
"Well, I won’t disturb you two. I’ll head home now," Ye Yan said, feeling awkward about running into someone else’s blind date.
"No bother," Lin Yihang quickly said, "Did you drive here?"
Ye Yan had come in Fu Xingzhou’s car, her own car was at home.
But to avoid trouble, she still lied, "Yes."
"Great, I didn’t drive. With the movie just out, it’s hard to get a taxi at this time. Would you mind giving me a lift?"
Ye Yan: ...
With Mr. Lin, whether you drove or didn’t seemed to end up the same.
If you drove, you’d take him; if you didn’t, he’d take you!
But the truth was, she hadn’t driven at all.
What to do? The words were out and couldn’t be taken back.
"Lawyer Lin, didn’t we agree to go for supper?" A woman’s sixth sense alerted Wang Yihan to the crisis.
Lin Yihang’s attitude towards the woman in front of him was indeed unusual.
They had met twice; the first was for a meal during the blind date, and this was the second.
But watching a movie was her initiative; she thought Lin Yihang wouldn’t come, yet he did.
She thought that Lin Yihang certainly felt differently about her, but now, seeing Lin Yihang’s tender side, she realized that he had never taken her seriously.
"Since you’re still going for supper, then I’ll take my leave," Ye Yan hastily grabbed this "lifeline," and without waiting for Lin Yihang to speak, waved goodbye.
Lin Yihang opened his mouth but ultimately didn’t say a word.
"I know a supper place that serves really delicious food..."
"Sorry, but I just remembered some unfinished work. You go ahead."
Lin Yihang’s expression returned to normal, "Miss Wang, you are very nice. It’s my problem. From now on, we don’t need to contact each other anymore, I’m sorry."
He really wanted to try and see if he still couldn’t muster any interest in other women.
Wang Yihan was quite an acceptable match, but he had endured through the movie with her.
Any semblance of etiquette he had managed to maintain collapsed in the instant he saw Ye Yan.
The girl from his youth had etched herself into his heart like a branding iron.
Leaving no room for anyone else.
Yet in her eyes, there was only Fu Xingzhou.
Fu Xingzhou, he wasn’t a good person at all; she had simply been blinded all along.
