Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Say You Won’t Leave Me

"How much did you drink?"

Ye Yan frowned as she smelled the alcohol on Fu Xingzhou’s body.

He had a weak stomach and rarely drank alcohol. During social gatherings, others wouldn’t dare to force him either.

Thus, Ye Yan had never seen him drunk before, let alone reeking of a mix of smoke and alcohol, looking completely disheveled.

"Not much, it was mostly Tang Jingyao," Fu Xingzhou said childishly by her side.

Ye Yan pointed to the bathroom, "Go take a shower first, I’ll make you some hangover soup."

However, Fu Xingzhou didn’t move but instead wrapped his arms around her in silence.

"You first take a shower, we’ll talk afterward."

She pulled Fu Xingzhou up and forcefully pushed him into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.

Fu Xingzhou wasn’t drunk, he was perfectly lucid.

Ye Yan made a call to the housekeeper to ask where the ingredients for the hangover soup were stored.

Even though these items were seldom used at home, the housekeeper always kept them stocked.

As Ye Yan was making the soup, Sijiu stayed close by her feet. Likely due to being fed treats frequently, Sijiu grew increasingly affectionate toward her.

Indeed, even cats know how to read the room.

By the time Ye Yan finished preparing the hangover soup, Fu Xingzhou had come out of the bathroom.

The man was only wrapped in a towel, revealing his lean upper body, casually flaunting his good physique as he dried his hair.

Although Ye Yan had seen him many times, the sudden visual still made her blush fiercely.

Besides, it had been a while since the two had seen each other.

"Put your clothes on." Ye Yan found Fu Xingzhou’s pajamas, made of black silk that felt like cool, flowing water in her hand.

"I’ll just have to take them off soon anyway," he retorted.

Fu Xingzhou threw the pajamas aside, wrapped his arms around her waist, the scent of his body wash overwhelmingly fresh, as if standing in the midst of a boundless prairie.

"Have the hangover soup first. I just learned from the housekeeper how to make it and it tastes good."

He was picky and wouldn’t eat anything he didn’t like.

"I’m not drunk."

"I know, but it will make your stomach feel better tomorrow."

With Ye Yan’s insistence, Fu Xingzhou drank a large bowl of the hangover soup.

She went to wash the dishes in the kitchen, and he followed her there.

The kitchen was spacious enough, but it felt cramped as soon as he entered.

"I’ll wash." Fu Xingzhou took the empty bowl from Ye Yan’s hands.

Ye Yan let him take the bowl to the sink, where he turned on the faucet.

He was too tall for the space, looking slightly out of place at the kitchen sink, but the sight of him diligently washing the dish was especially pleasing.

The bowl was quickly washed.

Just as Fu Xingzhou turned around, a paper towel was handed to him.

The hand holding the towel was pale and delicate, a thin golden bracelet around the slender wrist.

Fu Xingzhou quickly wiped his hands and then scooped her up in his arms.

Ye Yan was startled by his sudden action, reminded that the blinds in the kitchen weren’t drawn.

"Fu Xingzhou, put me down now."

"I will when we get there."

Seemingly unable to wait to reach their bedroom, Fu Xingzhou kissed her continuously, heading straight to the couch in the living room.

The couch was large and soft, both of them sinking into it.

"Fu Xingzhou," Ye Yan managed to say as his lips moved to her neck, her breath slightly faltering, "let’s talk first."

"Let’s do this first, then talk." His voice was hoarse, his eyes red with desire swirling within.

Warm jade in his arms, he couldn’t bear a moment longer.

In front of her, his self-control was zero.

"Then let’s go back to the bedroom."

"No."

Fu Xingzhou, annoyed by her chatter, sealed her incessantly babbling lips.

Ye Yan’s protests were ineffective, and she could only let him have his way. As passion deepened, she couldn’t help but join him in his madness, reaching the peak time and again.

Until their breathing gradually stabilized, yet the air around them was filled with a lingering, romantic aura.

Ye Yan was extremely tired, yet she forced her eyelids open, refusing to let herself fall asleep.

"Why didn’t you just go straight home?"

This was a question she had held back all night, unable to rest until it was asked.

"I had something come up on the way." Fu Xingzhou’s gaze shifted uneasily for a moment but soon he gently stroked her face, "Thought I’d handle it before coming back."

"So your ’something’ was going out drinking with Tang Jingyao?"

Ye Yan frowned; did she look that easy to deceive?

"It was really something." Fu Xingzhou kissed her forehead, "I was wrong. I should have checked in with my wife as soon as I got back to Macau. If you’re mad, you can punish me."

"Accept the punishment?"

"Yes."

Ye Yan smirked playfully, "Then I’ll punish you by not letting you touch me for a week."

"No, choose something else." Fu Xingzhou immediately objected.

"Weren’t you the one who said you’d accept the punishment?" Ye Yan laughed, "Now you’re backing out?"

Fu Xingzhou, unabashed in his hypocrisy, replied thick-skinned, "I have to admit guilt before I can be punished, right? How can you penalize me if I don’t admit?"

"Fu Xingzhou, let’s talk serious." Ye Yan straightened up and pushed him off her.

Her nightgown had been carelessly thrown under the sofa; she picked it up and put it back on.

"Do I still need to say it? My returning is the best answer, isn’t it?" Fu Xingzhou helped her tie the small bow at her collar, "Yanyan, I won’t abandon you, even if you’re the one who messes up."

"I won’t do anything to betray you." Ye Yan looked at him earnestly, "I hope there can be mutual respect between us, without secrets, not running away when there’s a problem because that’s not a solution."

Fu Xingzhou seemed to consider her words, his gaze drifting.

But quickly, as if he had reinforced a belief, he said, "Yanyan, can you promise me that no matter what I do, you won’t leave me?"

"Do you think that kind of promise means anything?"

That night, Fu Xingzhou was strangely akin to a teenager adhering to a naive pledge, childishly seeking an answer.

No one can guarantee a hundred percent never to leave another.

Human nature changes, the world changes, promises change too.

The only constant is to cherish the present.

"It’s meaningless, but I want to hear you say it." Fu Xingzhou was stubborn, their fingers interlocked, warmth passing between them as if he wanted to etch his thoughts into her heart, "You definitely won’t leave me, right?"

In that moment, he was like a determined child.

It was both exasperating and heart-wrenching, making it difficult for her to dash his hopes.

Ye Yan placed their clasped hands against his chest, "I won’t leave you."

It was like hearing a divine pardon; Fu Xingzhou smiled, "Me neither."

He leaned in to kiss her lips, the warmth making him reluctant to stop.

He poured out his feelings as if he would never be satisfied.

All because her dependency and submission at that moment filled the void in his heart, shielding it from the chilling winds.

The next day, when Ye Yan woke up, the man beside her was propped up on an arm, watching her.

The covetous look in his eyes didn’t have time to dissipate before he murmured a raspy "Good morning."

"Morning." Ye Yan snuggled closer to him, her mind still groggy from sleep, "Are you leaving today?"
