Chapter 69: Chapter 65: Expanding into a New Domain
[(Strategy)New Gameplay in Dark Land: Universal Fishing]

Before diving into the new gameplay, let me explain my situation first.
I am a seasoned fisherman in real life, loving to go fishing on holidays.
However, the place I live, Yunwu City, was once attacked by the Mechanical Army with Mutated Bombs, causing many aquatic fish to mutate and develop intelligence over the years, making them nearly impossible to hook, which has greatly diminished the fun of fishing.
Thus, I turned to virtual gaming to satisfy my craving.
Luckily, I grabbed the second round purchase qualification for Dark Land and entered Monster World to experience the game.
But my initial attempts at fishing in the game were not smooth.
The first major challenge was the lack of sufficient Combat Level.
The weakest monster in Monster World was stronger than my main human form; without a strong physique to support, it was impossible to pull the fish ashore, I would just be dragged into the water.
To solve this problem, I chose to hunt and level up with my guild friends.
Today, my stone-statue ghost level has reached 12, and I finally decided to start my fishing action.
Having addressed the issue of inadequate strength, let’s get to the main topic and discuss how to fish in the game.
The in-game store does not sell any fishing gear, so if you want to fish, you must make the fishing equipment yourself.
After a week of research, I made a simple set of fishing tools for your reference, and I welcome better suggestions in the comments—I will reply when I see them.
Here is my version 1.0 fishing tool crafting ideas:
To make the fishing line, I chose Iron Shell Bug silk threads, woven and rubbed together; strength tested very high in practice.
For the fishing rod, I chose bamboo from the bamboo forest near Artifact Spirit Valley in the Emperor Tomb Mountain Range - it’s very flexible, perfect for beginners, and in the future, I plan to switch to the stronger Spirit Plant Wood, but I have yet to find suitable material (with map coordinates marking).
The fishing hooks were made from broken weapons I collected from the Ancient Battlefield, chiseled little by little with an axe (it was exhausting), with a durability reaching equipment quality level 3, enough for fishing (at least it’s enough for my fishing location, where the Hunting Level of the aquatic life isn’t high).
The float is made from reeds growing near Turtle Shell Lake; these reeds are light with good buoyancy and are ideal for making fishing floats. Players can choose suitably thick, hollow reeds of the correct length, they are very effective.
For the bait, I used canned food from the store mixed with water and molded it; I considered mixing in fish meat, but that is more costly.
Regarding fishing locations, currently, there are temporarily two - the Stormwave Lagoon to the northwest of the Ancient Battlefield (attachment: map coordinates) and Turtle Shell Lake on the map (attachment: coordinates), both locations have aquatic life you can fish for. I will publish a detailed strategy post about the underwater species in these waters once I am familiar with them.

Having discussed the crafting of the fishing gear, next, I will attach a video of my successful fishing, as well as screenshots of the fishing outcomes.

Lastly, I have to say, the fish meat is too delicious... Once you’ve tried it, it will be unforgettable, and now I can’t stop thinking about the taste of the fish, I will soon catch another one to try what grilled fish tastes like (happy.jpg).
To sum up, fishing can not only gain sacrificial power but also Body Refining Experience, and killing the fished aquatic life grants evolution points to increase Monster Level.
While writing this strategy post, I am already imagining fishing for hundred-meter giants and even stronger aquatic creatures.
The fishing gameplay, in my opinion, is very interesting and has more potential for expansion in the future.
Most importantly, the aquatic life in Monster World is varied and bizarre; apart from fish, there are various underwater monsters, making every fishing session full of anticipation. I am considering creating a manual of underwater creatures.
This is a gameplay discovered unintentionally by a fishing enthusiast, shared for everyone.

The strategy post posted by Wu Quan rose rapidly in popularity in the forum, quickly pinned as the top thread in the forum’s 24-hour heat chart.
And this is exactly the result Wu Quan wanted to see.
His post in the forum is meant to attract more players to join in the fishing gameplay.
Thus, when writing this strategy post, he explained in great detail, particularly emphasizing the benefits brought by fishing and the unimaginable taste of the fish.
After the post was published on the forum, it attracted a large number of players to participate in the discussion.
Hei Ye: As expected of the free gameplay in the Big World, anything is possible; the appearance of the Gun Merchant already seemed unbelievable, and now there’s a professional fisherman; I can’t imagine what crazy growth paths will appear in the future.
Beaver: Dude, you’re awesome for making a set of fishing equipment by hand; selling it to Dark Land for 128888 is too low; in such a highly free world, you’re really playing in a free world... Reading how you described the taste of the fish in the post makes me really want to eat it; any interest in selling me one? The canned food in the game is getting tasteless; as a foodie, I am excited about the in-game cuisine, especially since I’ve thought about trying some Spirit Plants before, your description sparked my interest anew, if interested, we can discuss privately, I can purchase the fish meat with cash.
