Chapter 35: Chapter 35: I’m Going to Marry Your Best Friend!
Melody Parker responded, "Yes, Crown Prince of the Morris Group."
Seeing that Melody Parker indeed remembered him, Malcom Moore couldn’t help but feel a bit smug and raised his brow at Adrian Davies.
"Yes, that’s me. I’m really glad that Miss Parker still remembers me." After the pleasantries, Malcom Moore switched the topic to the purpose of his call, "Miss Parker, could you come over to the CC Pub? I have something I need to discuss with you."
When Malcom Moore called, Melody Parker had just finished dinner with Serena Sterling and was on her way home.
Serena Sterling’s father passed away half a month ago.
Yet, the past half month hadn’t helped Serena Sterling overcome the sudden grief of losing her father.
Although Serena Sterling seemed fine on the surface, taking good care of Breanna, she would still secretly shed tears when alone.
Melody Parker couldn’t do much but occasionally visit Serena Sterling and spend time with her.
She offered comfort to Serena Sterling through her actions, assuring her that she’d be by her side, helping her walk through the pain of losing her father.
The call went silent for a moment, and Melody Parker didn’t immediately respond to Malcom Moore.
Neither agreeing nor immediately refusing.
Seeing Melody Parker’s prolonged silence, Malcom Moore uncertainly asked, "Miss Parker, are you listening?"
Melody Parker said, "Hmm, I’m listening."
Malcom Moore said, "Miss Parker, I really need to talk to you; could you come over?"
Out of nowhere, Melody Parker thought of Malcom Moore at Serena Sterling’s father’s funeral, how he wore mourning clothes and bid farewell to Serena’s father.
Eventually, Melody Parker agreed.
"Okay, I’ll head over right now."
Upon hearing Melody Parker’s agreement, Malcom Moore promptly said, "Miss Parker, just mention you’re looking for me at CC Pub, and someone will bring you over. I’m waiting for you here, see you soon."
Melody Parker said, "Hmm."
Ending the call, Ava Parker immediately turned her car around and headed to CC Pub.
At CC Pub’s entrance, Ava Parker had just gotten out of her car when a server approached her, "Hello, are you Miss Parker?"
Ava Parker nodded, "Yes, I am."
The server bowed respectfully, "Hello Miss Parker, Young Master Morris instructed me to receive you, please follow me."
Melody Parker nodded again, "Alright."
The server led the way in front and soon brought Melody Parker to Malcom Moore’s exclusive box.
"Miss Parker, Young Master Morris is inside; please go ahead."
"Thank you!"
Melody Parker pushed the door open and immediately saw two distinguished men drinking.
Noticing the door opening, the two men paused their actions and looked toward the newcomer.
Melody Parker flashed a bright smile as she walked in and greeted, "Hello, Director Davies."
Then she looked at Malcom Moore, "Young Master Morris, why did you ask me to come over?"
Thinking of something, Melody Parker continued, "You wouldn’t ask me to come just to have a drink with you, would you?"
Malcom Moore didn’t directly answer Melody Parker’s question but looked at her and said, "Melody, you’ve come."
Then, looking unsurely at Melody Parker, he asked, "Melody, is it okay for me to call you this? You don’t mind, right?"
Melody Parker smiled, "I don’t mind; it’s just a name."
Malcom Moore patted the sofa next to him, "Melody, come, sit."
Melody Parker sat beside Malcom Moore and Adrian Davies, looking at Malcom Moore and asked, "Young Master Morris, what did you really want me here for? Surely you didn’t get me here just to drink with you?"
Adrian Davies threw a cold glance at Melody Parker, "Knowing that, you still came."
"..." Melody Parker was speechless.
Malcom Moore glared at Adrian Davies and quickly explained, "Melody, don’t listen to him; I really needed to talk to you."
Then Malcom Moore looked at Melody Parker and asked, "Melody, we’re friends, right?"
Melody Parker nodded, "Of course, it’s an honor to be friends with Young Master Morris."
Malcom Moore said, "Since that’s the case, don’t be so formal. Stop calling me Young Master Morris; just call me Malcom from now on."
Adrian Davies scoffed, "Hmph! Malcom? Is your relationship that good?"
Ignoring Adrian Davies, Malcom Moore forced a smile and continued looking at Melody Parker, "Of course, if Melody also feels it’s not appropriate, just calling me Malcom Moore is fine."
Melody Parker smiled slightly, "There’s nothing inappropriate about it; it’s just a name. Then I shall oblige and call you Malcom from now on."
After Melody Parker said this, someone’s face turned dark, and the room temperature quickly dropped.
Malcom Moore downed another glass of wine and cheered loudly, "Good, call me Malcom from now on."
Then, with some alcohol in him, Malcom Moore looked at Melody Parker and asked, "Melody, I saw you with the Sterling girl that day; do you know her?"
Melody Parker nodded, "Of course I know her; she’s my best friend."
"Oh, best friend! That’s great!" Malcom Moore said and downed another glass of wine before looking at Melody Parker again, "Melody, did you know? I might be getting married soon; the bride is your best friend."
"What? What did you say?" Melody Parker looked at Malcom Moore in disbelief, "You said you’re getting married? To my best friend—Serena Sterling?"
"Yes, I’m marrying your best friend. I’m Malcom Moore, and I’m marrying the Sterling girl!" Malcom Moore laughed self-deprecatingly, "Haha, Melody, are you surprised and can’t believe it? But it’s all true, just to repay her father for saving my father’s life, so I’m going to marry her!"
After hearing Malcom Moore’s words, Melody Parker burst into laughter.
"Malcom, what era is it now, still playing the ’debt of gratitude’ card for marriage? You should stop joking, okay? Not to mention whether you agree, just based on my understanding of Luna, she won’t agree."
Adrian Davies looked at Melody Parker sitting beside him, so close.
Looking at this charming woman chatting away with Malcom Moore, completely ignoring him.
She’s been here this long, so close to him, yet he doesn’t find her annoying, doesn’t feel uncomfortable, and hasn’t had an episode.
The only dissatisfaction that makes him want to lose his temper is this woman’s blindness.
A big CEO, an eye-catching, handsome man like him, and she doesn’t see him?
Not just that, she’s apparently deaf, deaf enough not to hear his voice! His prompts!
Malcom?
Is their relationship that good, good enough for such a nickname?
Plus, Malcom Moore, about to get married, still so immature!
Looks like River City is really too small; it can’t contain him.
