Modern World Warlock
Chapter 375 - 375: “K”

After the Jade Dragons managed to escape successfully from the grasp of the Novarian military, they boarded their planes and helicopters and returned to Novis, the capital.

The warlock was curious to ask Camille more about the mysterious person who had talked to her on the phone and was seemingly controlling the military's actions, but the exhaustion caught up with him as soon as he boarded the plane, prompting him to fall asleep.

With the death of Netherius and Vincent, the Onyx Cartel was left without a leader, so the handlers were already discussing how they would distribute the cartel's assets between the three standing mafia families.

It would have been easier for them if they could find another large mafia family that could take over their business, but they knew that it could take a while, so it was better to split the assets among them.

Since Wolfram wasn't inhabiting the body of Don Ruben, he wouldn't be able to keep acting as one of the cartel's leaders. Still, he mentioned the name of Noah Summer, who had been the handler for the Onyx Cartel since its inception.

Like all the others, Noah was also threatened and coerced by Netherius to keep working for him. Otherwise, all of his family members would have been turned into zombies.

The other three handlers listened carefully, but they weren't ready to forgive Noah's actions that quickly, explaining that–as handlers– they had certain responsibilities they couldn't ignore, even under threats.

For hours, the three handlers kept talking about their next steps. When they reached Novis, they all went to the Jade Palace to keep discussing the matter until dawn.

When Melinda Autumn inquired about the identity of the person controlling the military, Camille revealed that the person called themselves "K," though she couldn't figure out if it was a man or a woman, as they were using a voice synthesizer.

"K" didn't specify which organization they worked with, but it seemed like they were aware of the existence of magic as they mentioned the necromancer without stuttering.

It was clear to the handlers that whatever organization was behind "K" was powerful enough to go over the NSS commands, and the fact they were targeting Dante was worrying for Camille.

"They said they wanted to capture Dante, but they were ready to take us all out…" Camille explained.

The three handlers wondered if Noah Summer knew something about the mysterious organization, and while their relationship with him was quite sour after the ordeal with the cartel, they had no other choice but to contact him once they got to the Jade Palace.

When the group arrived, Sophia and Victoria ran to the entrance accompanied by Tommy, Lina, and Jake–the three teenagers– eager to greet the warlock and his team.

However, when they saw the group was unconscious and being taken to the infirmary on stretchers, their faces turned from joy to sorrow in an instant.

By the time the Omega Team was resting at the infirmary, Victoria approached the unconscious Zac and gently caressed his face, detailing the numerous wounds on his body.

Meanwhile, Sophia inspected both Megan and Dante, checking that their hearts were still beating and softly combing their hair.

During their moment of silence and reflection, the teenagers looked around and innocently wondered about Saris' whereabouts. However, when one of the Kappa Team members shook their head with apprehension, the teenagers fell in shock.

They knew that Saris was a banshee from hell, but they had spent quite a long time hanging out with her and playing video games, so the news of her death struck them hard.

As tears welled up in the teenagers' eyes, their sadness seemed to release an amount of umbra that was enough for Dante to perceive in his sleep, prompting him to open his eyes slowly.

"Ughh… I hear crying," Dante muttered while half asleep.

Hearing his words, Sophia and the teenagers ran up to Dante's bed and asked about his condition. Still, the warlock waved it off and reassured them he would be fine in no time.

"Why are you guys crying? I'm still alive…" Dante commented with a playful nature.

"B-But Saris…" Lina sobbingly replied.

Dante closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "I know," he said, gazing at the teenagers with a soft expression.

"I know you guys liked her. I'll do my best to bring her back," He continued.

"You can!?" The teenagers asked in unison with hopeful eyes.

"Well, I can try…" Dante replied, and his words were enough to console the trio.

Still, the warlock had to clarify and explain that it could take him a while to bring Saris back, though they still trusted their "big brother" Dante.

One day later, after Dante woke up, Alice opened her eyes and felt a sharp pain coursing through her body. It was an effect from all the injuries she sustained in the battle, but the doctors managed to ease her suffering with their treatment.

The following day, Megan woke up and found Sophia sleeping beside her, so the brunette postponed her awakening and hugged back the blonde before taking a nap.

It took a whole week for Zac to open his eyes, and even then, the redhead had trouble doing the smallest of movements. Moreover, his entire body was covered in bandages.

In the meantime, while the Jade Dragons recuperated, Camille had a talk with Lilith and Clara, who had stayed at the Jade Palace to protect it.

The handlers wanted to know the fate of Vincent, knowing that the man had attempted to attack their base.

They were worried that Vincent had escaped and contacted another cartel overseas for protection, but Lilith cleared their doubts when she conjured a small, circular mirror and handed it to Camille.

As the silver-haired woman stared at her reflection for a few seconds, the image warped and served as a window into Lustreth, Lilith's domain in hell.

The mirror only showed Vincent's current expression of fear, despair, and utter defeat. He was bleeding from his eyes and shouting in pain. Still, Camille couldn't hear anything—she could only see his desperation.

"What am I looking at?" Camille asked the Succubus Queen.

"You asked for that pig's fate. Well, there you go," Lilith replied with a proud smile.

"What is happening to him?" The handler inquired.

"Hmm? He was a murderer, rapist, druglord, enslaver, amongst other things… What do you think is happening to him?" Lilith replied, her smile showing a hint of pure malice.

"Ermm, you know what? I don't wanna know…" Camille said while handing the mirror back.
