75: Chapter 73: Audron’s Memories, Era of the Gods_2 75: Chapter 73: Audron’s Memories, Era of the Gods_2 Audron, seeing Lai Li so captivated, continued, “The Human Race, left to guard the Continent of God’s Grace, faced countless dangers and exerted all their strength to ultimately succeed in elevating one of their mages into the realm of the gods; he was our own first Heavenly God, Lei Sai, later known as the God of Thunder.”
At this point in the story, Audron’s tone shifted from solemn to cheerful, “With the presence of Lei Sai, the Human Race no longer wandered homeless and gained a territory of their own.
However, one Heavenly God wasn’t enough to free the Human Race from the enslavement of many powerful tribes on the Continent of God’s Grace.
Over the next three hundred years, another powerful individual from the Human Race ascended to godhood and became the God of Light, who then handed down the ways of the knights.”
“Didn’t the Human Race then lead better lives?” Lai Li quickly asked.
“They didn’t lead better lives; in fact, it became even tougher than before,” Audron replied with a wry smile.
“The appearance of the second Heavenly God so quickly alarmed the numerous races on the Continent of God’s Grace, leading them to suppress the Human Race.”
“Ah?
Then what happened?”
“Then, our greatest War God emerged mysteriously.
His origins and even his real name were unknown to all; he was only referred to as the War God.
With the arrival of the War God, the Human Race finally began to fight back.” Audron’s tone rose a few notches with excitement, unashamedly being a die-hard fan of the War God.
“Don’t get lost in your thoughts, hurry up and continue!” Lai Li urged, seeing Audron engrossed in his memories.
“Our great War God stationed Lei Sai and the God of Light to guard the Human Race’s territory while he himself bravely ventured into the lands of the strongest tribe at the time, the orcs.
He launched a massacre against the orc’s Heavenly Gods,” Audron spoke to Lai Li with excitement.
“Do you know how many Heavenly Gods the orcs had back then?”
“Three?
Five?” Lai Li guessed boldly.
“Ha ha ha, far too few, far too few.
As the strongest race, the orcs under the supreme Heavenly God Lion Heart had no less than three hundred and eight Heavenly Gods.
Three hundred and eight Heavenly Gods!”
“Three… three hundred and eight?” Hearing this number, Lai Li was almost dumbfounded; the concept of over three hundred Heavenly Gods could absolutely shatter the Continent of God’s Grace into thousands of pieces.
“Our War God alone infiltrated deep into the orc’s territory, slaying over two hundred Heavenly Gods and plunging the orcs into boundless panic.
Finally, it was the Lion Heart who stepped forward to face the War God in combat.
They battled fiercely for seven days and nights before finally halting the War God’s slaughter.
Although he didn’t completely eliminate all the orc gods, this battle profoundly elevated the reputation of our Human Race.
Since then, no race on the Continent of God’s Grace dared look down on us.
Over the subsequent centuries, the War God led the Human Race in conquest across many lands, firmly cementing the prosperity of our people!”
“Then the Abyss attacked, right?” Lai Li remembered that was where Audron had started.
“That’s right; the Humans who ventured into the Abyss have, over a millennium, risen to dominate the entire Abyss.
Under the mysterious rules of the Abyss, their appearances were entirely transformed – becoming gigantic figures with sharp fangs and claws, and some of them, known as the great lords, possessed strength comparable to Heavenly Gods.
Initially, the Abyssal Humans did not attack the Human Race but kept on annexing lower planes to expand their own domain.
However, those lower planes were nowhere near as fertile as the Continent of God’s Grace, so ultimately, they set their sights on the Continent of God’s Grace.
Thus, the Abyssal Humans, with their formidable strength, attempted to forcibly annex the territories won by the War God.
But our increasingly powerful Human Race naturally refused the Abyss’ demands, sealing off the passage between the Abyss and the Continent of God’s Grace.
After the passage was sealed, the abyssal Human Race spent a hundred years gathering resources from thousands of realms, sacrificed an entire plane to forge the World Bridge, and forcibly brought the abyssal plane close to the Continent of God’s Grace.
Using the World Bridge as a medium, they broke through the barriers between the two realms.
Thus, our war with the abyss had begun.
The great War God, in order to protect the Human Race from the abyssal invasion, constructed three Holy Temples in front of the World Bridge.
These three temples behind me are, on the left, the Iron Temple, in the middle, the Blood Temple, and on my right, the War Temple.
These three temples were blessed by the War God with three different paths of cultivation, each containing the supreme legacy of the warrior lineage.
Our brave warriors of the Human Race joined the temples to inherit these legacies and defended the World Bridge, effectively blocking the abyssal onslaught.
“Then, what about the Thunder God and the God of Light?
What did they do?” Lai Li suddenly remembered the other two Heavenly Gods and asked curiously.
“Not just the Thunder God and the God of Light, during this prosperous time for our race, more than thirty individuals ascended to godhood.”
“So many Heavenly Gods?
Shouldn’t they be able to counterattack the abyss then?” Lai Li laughed.
“On the contrary, they were too preoccupied to attend to the war with the abyss.
The hundred tribes of God’s Grace, seeing the increasing strength of the Human Race, were naturally afraid but dared not act recklessly as long as the War God was present.
However, with the descent of the abyss that intensely engaged the War God, they saw their chance to unite with the abyss and attempt to eradicate the Human Race completely,” Audron sighed, evidently having experienced those difficult times himself.
“Ah?
Are these hundred tribes so wicked?” Lai Li exclaimed angrily.
“It’s not about being wicked.” Audron gave a bitter smile, “It’s all about survival.
Initially, I hated the hundred tribes as much as you do, but as time went by, I came to a realization.
It’s all about fighting for the right to survive; there is no right or wrong.”
Hearing Audron’s words, Lai Li nodded, “You are right, I have learned a lot from you.”
Audron nodded in satisfaction and continued, “The story is nearing its end.
Our great War God, alone, faced many great lords, killed countless gods, and almost all the successors of the three great temples perished in this war.
With the intervention of the strongest Heavenly God from the abyss, the already exhausted War God could not resist and ultimately sacrificed his own godhood to sever the World Bridge.
And with that strike, we were forever plunged into an endless void.
I originally thought that reawakening the three great temples would leave none alive, but surprisingly, the lords of the three temples still retained their own consciousness.
The position of the War God is truly in danger!”
Lai Li, curious, pressed on, “Weren’t they supposed to support the War God?”
The old man shook his head, “Rather than saying they support the War God’s resolution, I believe they covet the identity of the War God.”
“Then why didn’t you explain it clearly to Tukuru just now?” Lai Li suddenly got angry, though she had only met Lu Hong recently but was at least an acquaintance.
“I,,,” Audron hesitated and ultimately could only shake his head, as the lords of the three great temples were all more powerful than him.
What he could say about the War God, perhaps, was not within Audron’s control to determine.
