Fixus, could you come over here for a second?” The principal called out from a corner to the short old man.
At this moment, it was the last fight of the chaotic morning of the second day, a gap before the duel of warrior versus hunter, and the short old man walked into the shadows with confusion, “Are you looking for me, Principal?”
“Mmm, mmm, mmm, respected Mr.
Fixus, is that student of yours any good?”
“Heh!” As soon as he spoke, the short old man knew what the principal intended; he wanted to place another bet while he still could.
“Absolutely brilliant, or else would I bet on a total victory?”
“Really?
Your student can win them all?” The principal asked excitedly.
If Lu Hong really could secure a total victory, he just needed to borrow some more Gold Coins and with the odds of ten thousand to one, he could at least earn back his capital.
“You guess.” The short old man patted the principal’s shoulder with a grave tone, “A little gambling is fun, too much hurts the body, it hurts!”
Dammit, and it’s all because of you.
The materials submitted showed a mere level one warrior, but in reality, the moment he made a move, he was level ten!
His fortune could be said to have been completely swindled by the short old man, but since the latter was an elder of the Proulx family, he could only seethe in silence.
While misreporting one’s level was wrong, it wasn’t a big deal after all.
To bet or not to bet?
After much deliberation, the principal finally decided to borrow a hundred Gold Coins and bet on a total victory.
This very morning was the last moment to place bets.
One has to gamble at least once in life, make a bold move, turn a bicycle into a motorcycle!
Having made up his mind, the principal wasn’t one to dither, he directly snatched a hundred Gold Coins from the head of the academic affairs and ran to the bookie, saying, “I bet a hundred Gold Coins on warrior to win it all.”
“Oh, you really should think this through, you know.
There are some powerful niche professions competing this time, the warrior might not win,” the bookie said with a smile.
“I’m betting, I’m betting!” The principal closed his eyes and handed over the coins.
“Alright then, a hundred Gold Coins on the warrior for a total victory.” With a simple magic contract, the bet was officially placed.
Kid, my life’s hopes are all on you!
The principal stared intently at Lu Hong stepping onto the stage, full of anticipation.
“Damn, referee, isn’t that against the rules?!” The moment Lu Hong stepped onto the stage, he cursed out loud, “Have you ever seen a hunter making their First Transition able to bring two demon pets?”
The referee shook his head, “He only has one demon pet, the other is just helping out voluntarily, you can ask it if you don’t believe me.”
Lu Hong gave a speechless glance at the drooling dog lying on the ground; this Dogson was clearly more interested in the hunter’s monkey pet’s behind, truly a peculiar taste.
“Look, Tutu, this really isn’t my fault.
My demon beast is this ghost-faced monkey, but somehow, this little Shih Tzu fell for my pet a few months ago and has been following its behind ever since.
I can’t make head or tail of it either,” the hunter student explained proactively, in a very friendly manner.
,,,,,,
What a weird bunch!
Lu Hong had his eyes opened to some new oddities.
“Fine, fine, if the demon beast is willing, there’s nothing I can do,” Lu Hong forgave the hunter student.
“But, but Tutu, you must be careful.
This Shih Tzu is rather formidable, even my teacher can’t make out its breed,” the hunter student warned, revealing his hand in a friendly way.
“Got it, thanks.” Lu Hong gave the referee a look.
Once both parties had finished exchanging words, the referee announced the start of the duel immediately.
“Go, Brother Monkey!” the hunter student shouted, and the ghost-faced monkey, heeding its owner’s command, charged furiously at Lu Hong.
“F*ck, it really is weak.” Lu Hong didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
The monkey was clearly still at the level of a tier three demon beast, completely unimproved by the hunter training.
How were such people chosen for the grand melee, he wondered?
With a slap, as expected, the ghost-faced monkey was flattened by Lu Hong without any resistance to speak of.
“Watch out, Tutu, the Shih Tzu is going berserk!” the hunter student warned as he himself retreated to the edge of the stage, fearing he’d be caught up in the dog’s fury.
“Merely a Shih Tzu…?” Before Lu Hong could finish his sentence, the Shih Tzu, seeing its beloved being beaten up, was instantly enraged.
It’s ordinarily scrawny body began to grow massively, and in the blink of an eye, it stood three meters tall.
“Woof, woof, woof!”
A shape-shifting dog, huh?
Before Lu Hong could identify the breed, the dog opened its jaws wide and a blast of flame poured forth.
Lu Hong, not losing his cool in face of danger, quickly performed his ultimate move, “Donkey Roll”.
But before he could stand back up, the Shih Tzu charged at him, slamming him into the barrier of the stage with one swipe of its paw.
“Oh!” The onlookers exclaimed in surprise, as the slap looked quite painful.
“Tutu, are you alright?
I told you to be careful, but you wouldn’t listen,” the hunter student said, offhandedly kicking the man while he was down.
The principal, who had been silently observing Lu Hong, now regretted it immensely.
He felt as if he’d lost another hundred Gold Coins, but at least it was his lackey’s money, and he likely wouldn’t dare to ask for it back.
“Um, Principal?
My mother just sent someone asking for money for a big celebration.
When do you think you could give me back those hundred Gold Coins?” The head of academic affairs had barely spoken before being kicked out the door.
You worthless lackey!
At that moment, the principal felt a pang of anguish.
“Cough, cough!” Lu Hong, covered in dirt, stood up and looked again at the unexpectedly formidable Shih Tzu with a sense of heartache.
“I’d advise you to drop that look,” Lu Hong seriously warned the pug.
“Woof woof!” the pug cursed, its disdainful gaze intensifying.
A dog is looking down on me?
“Don’t mind it, Tu.
Don’t keep staring into the pug’s eyes!
Anyone who looks too long can’t help but feel the urge to beat it up, but the fact is they can’t win, and this gap can cause you psychological trauma!” the hunter student reminded again kindly.
“I seriously don’t buy it!” Lu Hong yelled, charging with his giant sword in hand.
Today, he was determined to beat up this dog that looked down on everyone!
The audience below started munching on their snacks, focusing intently on the human-dog battle.
But the group of big shots on the viewing stand had a different interest; they were busy debating the origins of this pug.
“I think it must be a Bit Demon Hound,” said a hunter big shot, taking the lead.
“Having been in the beastmaster business for so many years, a dog that can grow big must be a Bit Demon Hound.”
“Bit Demon Hound?
Are you using your brain?
Bit Demon Hounds have Water-based Demon Cores.
Have you ever seen one that can breathe fire?” another big shot countered.
“Can’t there be mutations?
Who says it can’t mutate from Water to Fire?” the hunter big shot argued.
“Then why don’t you just say it’s a Blazing Hound that’s mutated the ability to change size?
I think that’s more believable, isn’t it?” scoffed another big shot, irritated.
If you don’t know, just admit it.
Why try to explain it away?
The hunter big shot paused, realizing the point.
A mutation for changing size was indeed much more plausible than changing from Water to Fire.
Why hadn’t he thought of that in the first place?
While the big shots on the stage were still chattering away, Lu Hong had already started a frontal assault with the pug.
The fight between man and dog was fierce and even.
Lu Hong tried every trick he knew, but even attacks that had the Armor-Breaking Skill effect couldn’t damage the pug.
This put him in crisis.
He couldn’t break its defense, so what level of Demon Beast was this dog?
Fourth tier?
Fifth?
The dog, on the other hand, gradually took Lu Hong more seriously.
It had not expected this seemingly frail human to withstand each of its attacks.
The human had earned its respect.
“Woof woof woof!
Woof woof woof!” After a vigorous exchange, the two stepped back several paces to create distance.
“I admit, you’re pretty strong too,” Lu Hong responded.
The audience below were full of question marks.
???
What’s happening?
Could this warrior understand dog speak?
“Tu, you can actually communicate with the pug?!” the hunter student was also shocked.
“This is a rare skill!
Teach me, Tu!”
“Woof woof woof!
Woof woof woof, woof woof!” the pug continued.
“Alright, let’s settle this with one final move,” Lu Hong agreed.
The pug nodded, and both the man and dog began to channel their energy for the last powerful strike!
He really can understand dog language.
This guy is awesome!
Any remaining skeptical spectators were now utterly convinced.
Lu Hong must definitely be at level ten in dog speak!
“Who would have thought there would be a person in this world who speaks dog language.
This warrior is truly talented!
Not bad at all!” smiled a big shot on the viewing stand appreciatively.
Anyone who mastered a foreign language always fared well in the future.
As time ticked away, the pug exuded a formidable aura, its body ablaze with roaring flames, making it resemble an ultimate Fierce Beast.
“Woof woof woof?”
“Come on!” yelled Lu Hong.
Holy shit!
This is truly barrier-free communication!
Hearing Lu Hong’s response, the pug propelled itself forward, turning into a fiery comet aiming straight for Lu Hong.
Such amazing speed!
Everyone was startled.
That speed could overwhelm anyone not on the viewing stand.
“Kulu, concede quickly!” Though Nono was still upset with Lu Hong, concern for his safety was now paramount.
If he conceded, the judge would intervene, and he wouldn’t get hurt.
Faced with the charging pug, Lu Hong surprisingly opened his arms, showing no sign of resistance.
What’s going on?
Did he freeze up in fear?
The principal’s heart ached miserably at that moment.
His money was really gone!
