Chapter 943 - Chapter 943 Chapter 943 Crisis
Chapter 943: Chapter 943 Crisis Chapter 943: Chapter 943 Crisis The chairman of the Earl’s Guild flashed a moment of despair on his face, realizing that he had ultimately miscalculated.
He was overly confident, thinking that conquering two guilds easily had naturally led to his arrogance.
Though he anticipated that acting first would attract attention, his excessive confidence made him believe that he could defeat Starfire before anyone else reacted, thus strengthening the foundation of the Earl’s Guild and possibly securing first place eventually.
However, the reality was that they couldn’t even touch the city walls before being shattered by Starfire’s tightly coordinated, army-like maneuvers and fierce artillery fire.
Now, they didn’t even have a chance to escape.
Still, he harbored a glimmer of hope. They halted their charge, and over a thousand people gathered together to form a simple formation.
Meanwhile, Starfire seized this opportunity to quickly reorganize and rest, aware that the previous battle was merely a warm-up and the real battle, possibly a relentless battle, was about to commence.
With two days left until the end of the contest, the members of Starfire were prepared for two days of continuous battle, all having gathered at Starfire’s guild headquarters before the second phase of the fight.
For this battle, everyone entered a nutrition pod, which was specifically prepared for such scenarios, and normally, their use was restricted and required system approval.
Such as in large-scale events or competitive settings.
The headquarters of Starfire were originally built for a luxurious guild, and as someone wealthy like its owner spared no expense on this base, which now turned out to be an advantage for Starfire.
Soon, three guilds hurried over abreast, two from Alien Guilds and one from the Light Faction.
Among the Alien Guilds was an old acquaintance, including the two-headed Ogre Guild, the Mad Digging Guild of the werewolf-like creatures, and the Eternal Darkness Guild.
Each guild was a force to be reckoned with, especially the Ogre Guild, which primarily comprised massive dual-headed ogres.
The players were well-acquainted with the ogres–a race with substantial physical power, great stamina, and much more health and healing ability than average players–additionally having a dual-profession due to their two heads.
Even more formidable was that they could gain two elite professions, unmatched by any other race or player.
After all, while other players could only choose one elite profession, ogres could select two, which made countless players envious.
Some even gathered a large group of players to spectate and complain, claiming it was a bug, but the official response was clear.
Ogres from their planet naturally had two heads and two minds, qualifying them for two professions, much to the envy and resentment of many players. Some even clamored for the officials to make ogres a playable race.
The officials, caught between laughter and tears, pointed out that multitasking was challenging enough without introducing ogres, which might lead to mental breakdowns, given the tricky nature of the Ancient God’s central intelligence. They dared not take the risk.
So, the combat prowess of ogres ranked among the very top among all players.
The werewolf-like creatures, meanwhile, were known for their rapid speed, strong discipline, ferocity, and naturally high defensive power even without a full set of armor–a truly formidable race.
In the world of Ancient Gods, their lack of success was attributed to low intelligence, but these player werewolves–though not much brighter than humans–held on to their primitive societal status, similar to other races, due to a lack of creative thinking.
Of course, their will and awareness in battle were beyond what humans could match.
“Ladies and gentlemen, your timing is perfect. Our guild has already tested Starfire’s combat style, and now we can join forces to take down Starfire.” The president of the Earl’s Guild said loudly upon seeing that three guilds had blocked their path.
The president of the Eternal Darkness Guild laughed, “Oh, a joint attack?”
“Exactly, Starfire is very strong, but with our experienced people together, we’ll surely take down Starfire in one fell swoop,” the president of the Earl’s Guild stated.
“The facilities are indeed impressive.” The two-headed Ogre Sorcerer eyed the Earl’s Guild’s siege engines.
The president of the Mad Digging Guild, with eyes like a wild beast, stared at the Earl’s Guild’s president and said, “A union, huh? Good, now you’ll serve as the vanguard for our United Army. Deploy now.”
The Earl’s Guild’s president’s expression changed, “Your Excellency, are you asking our guild’s members to be cannon fodder?”
“How fresh, what value do your few people have other than being cannon fodder?” The other head of the Ogre Sorcerer was full of scorn.
“Damn it, is this your so-called cooperation?” the Earl’s Guild’s president sneered. “Do you really think we are pushovers? Don’t force us into a corner where both the fish dies and the net splits.”
“I’d like to see how you plan to ‘both the fish dies and the net splits,'” the light flashed in the eyes of the two-headed Ogre Sorcerer. “Wipe them out together.”
Following the Ogre Sorcerer’s words, the Ogres charged, and the Werewolves and Humans also launched their attack.
The outcome was clear without even thinking about it. Three guilds against one, and a crippled one at that.
Without melee protection, their few people were like paper; a charge directly scattered their formation.
The Earl’s Guild frantically smashed their siege engines in retaliation, but the three major guilds were simply too strong, slaughtering the fragile like it was nothing.
“These guys are very strong.” The enchantress’s face grew solemn as she grew nervous too, especially since the Alien players were evidently better, an undeniable fact.
Li Yao said, “Prepare for a tough battle. I told you to seek revenge, and that Lizardman surely wouldn’t miss this; they have already been lurking in the river.”
The enchantress’s expression changed, “I was not unaware of the Water Fortress’s defense.”
Li Yao nodded, “No need to be so nervous. There are multi-headed hydras and giant sea monsters in the water, plus other trump cards. It won’t be easy for them to storm us. However, more guilds will continuously arrive by land, and I need to make additional preparations.”
Sister Li’s eyes brightened, “Are you planning to bait monsters?”
Li Yao was an expert in monster baiting, a fact well documented in numerous videos of Li Yao baiting monsters.
For instance, when Li Yao led an army of over ten thousand Murlocs, many Hunters had tried and mostly ended in dire straits.
“The monsters here are at minimum level forty, don’t mess around,” the enchantress shook her head. “You can kill many at camp, but if you leave alone and end up dying, there’ll be no way to rescue you.”
Summoning a large number of level forty monsters is no joke, not to mention Elite Monsters; even regular monsters would instantly kill Li Yao. It was far too dangerous.
“Rest assured, I have it under control,” Li Yao reassured as he looked at the dwindling players of the Earl’s Guild. “Without spreading the pressure like this, we won’t last long.”…
