Chapter 1270 - Chapter 1270 Chapter 1270 Draw the Sword

Chapter 1270: Chapter 1270: Draw the Sword Chapter 1270: Chapter 1270: Draw the Sword The two fleets still had many ships, but being attacked by twenty small boats from the adversary had them feeling utterly stifled.

“We can’t go on like this. The enemy’s main fleet is not far away; let’s go and take them down before attacking Spark Station,” said the chairman of the Mang Guild.

The face of the Burning Blade Guild’s chairman fell, “Are you insane? Our fleet going head-to-head with Starfire’s fleet is like seeking death.”

“Their main force doesn’t dare to approach, clearly feeling insecure. Their hesitation only proves that Starfire Guild’s fleet might not be as formidable as it used to be. Besides, our fleet isn’t weak; it isn’t like those small boats that can just be slaughtered,” analyzed the chairman of the Mang Guild.

“You’re joking. The land forces have already started their attack. I think we should send out a few boats to intercept them and launch an assault on Spark Station simultaneously. A pincer attack is the way to go. Besides, we can’t even handle these small boats, let alone their large ships. Our ships are decent, but we don’t have a single Demon-Powered Battleship, so what chance do we have against them?” said the chairman of the Burning Blade. He clearly did not want his fleet to grind it out against the enemy, “Our troops are all on the ships. If the players die, our troops will have to retreat without having a chance to deploy.”

“Don’t worry, I have a trump card up my sleeve. Just you wait and see. If it comes to it, our Mang Guild can cover the retreat. If our two guilds separate, we really won’t stand a chance” said the chairman of the Mang Guild, softening his tone. “Think about it–if we defeat Starfire’s fleet, we weaken Spark Station not only militarily but also economically since their warships are involved in trade. There are definitely a lot of valuable goods on those ships. Plus, the spoils taken at sea would be divided only between our two guilds.”

The chairman of the Burning Blade Guild was finally convinced, “Alright, let’s risk it.”

“That’s the spirit; fortune favors the bold,” said the chairman of the Mang Guild. He loudly commanded, “No more wasting time with those small boats. Let the fleet advance and roll over them, and let’s start the decisive battle with Starfire’s fleet.”

The speedboats didn’t confront the enemy head-on but instead bypassed them, attacking from the flanks.

Spark Station Fleet Number Two quickly learned of the opponent’s movements.

“They dare to engage us in a decisive battle with such an uneven fleet; they’re courting death. Relay my command–always dominate the upper hand, and teach them a lesson. Let’s see what other tricks they have up their sleeve.”

Taking advantage of the wind, Starfire’s fleet charged directly at the opponent’s fleet. The two forces soon clashed, but the Mang United Army didn’t enter Starfire’s firing range and kept their distance while sending nearly empty ships to intercept.

Starfire’s side ignored those and sunk the intercepting vessels with a volley of cannon fire.

A murloc rushed onto the ship and said, “Commander, the enemy has released a large number of poisonous man-eating fish and some terrifying jellyfish that can corrode the hull.”

The female pirate shook her head slightly, “So, they were hiding these tricks. Orders are, deploy the sea ghost troops to clear the junk in the water. Meanwhile, blow the underwater horn to summon the sea monster, and tell it that it’s time for its meal.”

The situation on land continued to evolve.

Standing on the city wall, the guard officer watched as a scout riding a gryphon landed, “Sir, the enemy’s vanguard will reach here in about twenty minutes.”

“And their main force?”

“They are nearing the Sandy Beach Forest,” the scout replied.

“Very well, inform the assassin hall to operate at will,” the guard officer ordered.

“Yes,” the messenger quickly flew to a hidden spot outside the city and delivered the command to a masked thief.

The thief read the command, looked up, and said to the countless masked thieves below, “Someone is attacking our guild. Our chairman and our leader are not present, but we cannot tarnish the reputation of our Assassin Hall. Now follow me to hunt down the main force of the enemy. Our target is clear–to eliminate the enemy’s healers and those with weak survival abilities. Everyone is using war space now. They will not deploy their troops, so killing one of them is akin to wiping out a small squadron. Let’s move out now; we are heading to Sandy Beach Forest, the training ground we are most familiar with.”

There were no cheers, no rallying cries. Following the lead thief’s command, all the thieves went into stealth mode and rapidly approached Sandy Beach Forest nearby.

Both guilds’ players did not have a ready-made path in Sandy Beach Forest; the trees here were tall and straight.

Players from two guilds could not maintain their formation and had to advance quickly and loosely through the forest. Their pace was swift, clearly boosted by something, but since they couldn’t mount horses in the forest, their speed was still significantly slower than usual.

What they didn’t know was that thousands of thieves had already dispersed among the trees above their heads.

A squad of a hundred men let out a piercing screech.

Hundreds of thieves threw their lassos simultaneously, and hundreds of fragile enemies were looped by their necks and yanked upwards. The thieves, holding the other end of the ropes, plummeted, bringing themselves parallel to their ensnared foes before continuing to wind the ropes around their necks, followed instantly by backstabbing.

The whole process mirrored Shadow Dance’s proficient use of beams and ropes to hunt the opposition.

“Enemy attack!”

The players below finally realized what was happening, looked up, and prepared to retaliate.

“Smoke bomb cover.”

Numerous thieves hurled smoke bombs below, filling the area with smoke, while the thieves quickly changed locations.

The squad leader of the hundred-men team issued another howl, conveying his intent without the need for direct verbal communication. The thieves understood and promptly scouted for suitable spots to set up heavy crossbows.

Thudding sounds filled the air.

Steel Arrows soared through the air, striking players below in critical spots amid chaos. Those in the smoke couldn’t see their targets while those farther away, although having sight of their targets, were too far to attack. They could only watch helplessly as the thieves poured on relentless firepower.

It is known that, unlike regular bow and arrow or crossbow, it’s relatively hard for a thief specialized in non-weapon items to kill players. However, these Medium-sized heavy crossbows were different. Although slow to load, their lethality was tremendously shocking; it was cumbersome without leverage, but agile thieves quickly sought proper positions to use them effectively.

This was their training in action, not just relying on their skills, but using various formidable tools in suitable positions to execute the hunt.

This wasn’t isolated to just one location. Similar scenarios occurred elsewhere and, in a short span, thousands of players caught off guard were hunted down by thousands of assassins from the guild, leaving many utterly stunned.

Normally, guild fights involved guerilla attacks like Shadow Attack cut-throat using thief skills leading to exposure and escape, but the assassins from Starfire operated entirely differently…
