Chapter 1228: Chapter 1228: Platinum Chapter 1228: Chapter 1228: Platinum “They said it was for safety, but where was the danger? There certainly wasn’t any with Li Yao.”
Li Yao glanced at the communicator; his sister said they had already boarded.
The folks from Starfire had also been arranged, and they were bringing their families as well.
Of course, Li Jia and Tongtong were together, without anyone else. Guardian Angel and Fruit Knight were just the couple themselves.
As for Qin Feng Yi, it goes without saying, she had fallen out with her family, and even if she hadn’t, with her parents’ status they would not attend.
Hearing that Li Yao’s parents and sister had arrived, Qin Feng Yi said, “I haven’t seen Uncle, Auntie, and Jia Jia in a long time. Let me go with you to welcome them.”
Li Yao was startled and replied, “Okay.”
Qin Feng Yi naturally took Li Yao’s arm and left together amidst the courteous voices around them.
Of course, when Li Yao and Qin Feng Yi appeared together, Li Yao’s parents were surprised and pleased, and Li Jia even said happily, “Oh my, Sister-in-law Feng Yi, you’re here too.”
Everyone was delighted. When Li Yao saw his parents, he felt as if he had been reborn, but he quickly adjusted his emotions. Since there was an opportunity to meet after all this time, how could he not cherish and seize it?
“Xiao Yao, Feng Yi, let me introduce you, these are friends we met at the port, you can just call them Uncle Chen and Auntie Chen,” said Li Yao’s mother, introducing the couple next to her enthusiastically.
The middle-aged couple, spotting Li Yao and the elegant Qin Feng Yi beside him, instantly showed a hint of envy and hurriedly said, “Old Li, you’re so fortunate. What does your son do for a living? This daughter-in-law of yours is so beautiful.”
Li Yao smiled and said, “I don’t really have a job, just playing some games.”
Auntie Chen was startled and then smiled, “Oh, that’s not good enough. You can’t support such a beautiful wife just by playing games. We hit it off with your parents as well. My son serves as a captain in the New Mecha squad. I see Xiao Yao is not that old; maybe he could find a job in the New Mecha squad too.”
Uncle Chen, however, pulled Auntie Chen aside, murmuring under his breath, “Are you crazy? Our son doesn’t have that kind of power.”
Auntie Chen immediately glared at Uncle Chen, who dared not speak further, thinking to himself that she was showing off their son again, which she had done countless times already, yet it was never enough.
Li Yao was momentarily taken aback, realizing they were the parents of one of his team members, and said, “Thank you both for the kind words, but I’m quite easygoing by nature, so I’ll pass.”
“I’m telling you, young man, you’ve got to be more ambitious. You can’t achieve anything by playing games all day…” Auntie Chen was about to continue when another group arrived.
“Mom and Dad, you’re finally here,” a young man hurried over, followed by Li Jia and the others.
“Come here, son, these are your Uncle Li and Auntie Li. Go ahead and greet them,” Auntie Chen urged her son, “This is my son, already a captain now.”
Li Yao saw that it was Chen Fang, the one who piloted the Mage Mech. Chen Fang promptly saluted and greeted Li Yao’s parents and then noticed the slightly higher-ranked Li Yao behind them.
He stuttered, “Captain, I–I’ve already switched posts with someone else; I didn’t sneak out.”
Li Yao nodded and smiled, “No worries, what could happen within the port? I didn’t expect it, but you sure keep your cards close to your chest, to have gained qualifications in the game.”
Chen Fang said, somewhat embarrassed, “I was just lucky, happened to get a random team, not like you, Captain, who got in on skill.”
Chen Fang’s parents were suddenly stunned, “Xiao Fang, you know each other?”
Chen Fang said, “This is the captain I’ve always been telling you about, the one who trains us in the New Mecha squad.”
Chen Fang’s mother was incredulous, “He’s the colonel? How can he be so young? Old Li, wow, you really keep a low profile.”
Li Yao’s parents also watched Li Yao in surprise. Although they knew he had joined the army, they had no idea about the specifics.
“Brother, you’ve really kept things under wraps, even from me. Well done, sister-in-law, keeping it a secret from me too,” Li Jia said, clearly unsatisfied.
Feng Yi gave a bitter smile and said, “I just forgot.”
Her family background wasn’t really anything special compared to a senior colonel, and since Li Yao didn’t care much for status, he naturally didn’t bother mentioning it.
At this point, Sister Li and the others came out and began to perform their junior’s duties towards Li Yao’s parents.
Li Yao quickly introduced them. After just a few words, Li Yao’s parents took an incredible liking to Tiantian. With her sweet little mouth, she made the two of them exceedingly happy.
“Mr. Li, it’s you. How come you are here?” Chen’s mother asked in surprise, looking at Sister Li, who usually seemed like an icy beauty.
“I’m also a member of Starfire,” Sister Li stated indifferently.
Oh, oh…
Both of them were immediately thrown into disarray…
Li Yao’s parents were also elated, but not because of the grand scene providing them with face, but because their son, whom they’d always been worried about, had finally found the right path and his future seemed secured.
Throughout the journey, whether it was the flight attendants or the patrolling members who saw Li Yao, they all gave their salutes, which made Li Yao’s parents feel completely at ease.
In essence, their thoughts were simple. They didn’t ask for Li Yao to be extremely successful; they just wanted to see him firmly established in society to be satisfied.
Now, Li Yao had far exceeded their expectations. What else could they be unsatisfied or ungrateful for?
The spaceship took off, a gathering was held, and then everyone assumed their places.
The voyage was smooth, taking four days, during which Li Yao provided special training to his team members and shared some insights on controlling the New Mechs.
Of course, Li Yao also met many old friends from the game–those from the top-tier guilds, including Edward.
In his spare time, Li Yao logged into the game, though he couldn’t stay for long. In order not to fall behind in level, Li Yao also began to challenge Infinite Space.
For efficiency, he played on platinum mode, meaning starting at default level, no damage, no armor except for weapons and accessories, and not using any items to clear the levels.
Li Yao’s level finally broke through to level fifty after clearing the fifth tier, and then he started to upgrade and evolve his pet; he was busy to no end.
However, Li Yao did not touch the ground. His strong entry into the platinum ladder caused a huge uproar.
After all, the dungeon had been open for many days, and on the platinum ladder, the record was only for clearing the first tier.
This was after they had trained for a long time, became familiar with all scenarios and modes, and had gone back to suppress their attributes after countless failures to complete it.
Yet, Li Yao powered his way up, from the first to the fifth tier, all in one attempt.
With Li Yao’s skill, if he had cleared the tiers normally, people might not have been too astonished. But to clear them with platinum mode on the first attempt was truly shocking.
For a time, countless people used their ladder points to watch Li Yao’s clearance videos…
