Chapter 1180: Chapter 1180: Gladiator Chapter 1180: Chapter 1180: Gladiator “Let’s go, we don’t need to rest anymore. Let’s set off,” the Enchantress said, riding her mount from the rear to the front of Starfire’s formation. When she saw Li Yao, she showed a smile, clearly much relieved.
The Enchantress was still the War Commander; this was very clear within Starfire Guild’s jurisdiction, with everyone responsible for their part and mutual cooperation.
Following the Enchantress’s order, the people of Starfire immediately started summoning their mounts. During guild battles, ordinary members could only summon the same type of mount in an army march to keep the formation in order.
The troops of Starfire were uniformly mounted on Skeletal Warhorses, which were the standard military mounts. The core members at the very front all rode Nightmares. There were sixty thousand players following Starfire into the battle, which was quite an impressive force indeed.
At the same time, large numbers of troops were also rushing toward Blood Sealed Fortress from other locations.
Half an hour later, they finally caught sight of the majestic fortress in the extreme distance.
The fortress was built between the mountains, incredibly grand and immense.
Even before getting close, they could see the skies filled with Fire Bullets and all sorts of Magic Glow, which were dazzling beyond measure, and various aerial legions engaging in combat. The intense sounds of slaughter, even from a distance, were enough to make one’s blood boil involuntarily.
“What an epic scene.”
“The battle is so fierce, it looks like Chieftain Cain is truly going all out.”
“Look at those Totem columns piercing the sky; they belong to the Tauren Totem Army, said to be the most powerful legion of the Taurens. They once fought the Black Dragon Legion to a standstill in the ancient wars.”
“It seems they’re really desperate, with the main legion having entered the battle.”
Everyone immediately started chattering.
The Enchantress sighed and said, “In the end, it’s because we Earth players aren’t as strong as those from other planets. In this war, we’re really reliant on the players, and overall, our level is far behind that of the players from other worlds.”
“Initially, the four factions agreed that whichever faction captured Primitive Blood City first would have the highest choice and bargaining chips. Now, the armies from the other sub-dimensions have already entered the Original Blood Mountains, while the three factions are still blocked outside, naturally causing dissatisfaction.”
They finally approached the battlefield, where they could see countless players standing by. Continuously, player formations received orders and excitedly joined the fray.
“This is a real meat grinder.” Li Yao could hardly wait to collect corpses; this was the best opportunity to expand military power.
“The main legion stays behind; only three people are allowed to go to the command post,” a Tauren intercepted their legion as he ran up to them.
Li Yao nodded, and the three of them headed straight for the command post. Accompanying him were the Enchantress and Pupil.
“Only the united guild legions are qualified to go to the command post. Individual players can only enter if they hold a rank of captain or higher,” the Enchantress explained.
Li Yao nodded in understanding. The command post wasn’t really a command post; it was actually a small hill in front of the city gate where one could easily see the entire battlefield.
Being a witness to the mad slaughter of hundreds of thousands, or even millions, was a scene that could only occur in games; such a large-scale battle had never happened in the ancient times in reality.
Boom…
A massive figure leaped from the sky, and it seemed as if the very earth trembled beneath him. A minotaur, drenched in blood and a massive totem column in hand, knelt on one knee.
“Chieftain, I have failed in my mission. These mutated monsters are far too powerful, and the walls are too high. Despite their evil magic, we simply cannot kill our way onto the ramparts.”
Another kindly minotaur helped him up: “I am aware. It’s not your fault. Even if you were stronger, you could not take on such numbers alone.”
HAH!!!!
Suddenly, a frenzied roar erupted, drawing all eyes toward it. At the city gates, there was a formation of twenty thousand defenders, each astride a Warcraft Silver Elite Devil Tyrannosaurus, but these warriors had undergone mutations. Their bodies were grotesquely enlarged, some reaching the size of two minotaurs, each one radiating a bloody aura, sprouting blood-colored long horns. And their Devil Tyrannosaurs were just as red and ferocious below.
Far from the city gates, instead of a legion’s attack, there was an area resembling an arena, where a massive Devil Tyrannosaurus, over fifteen feet in size, was devouring a player.
As the player was devoured, a swell of blood erupted from the nearby army of forty thousand, which then transformed into beams of bloodlight, making the arena-like field all the more dazzling.
It was for this reason that the Primitive Blood Tribesmen let out their cheers and screams.
“Damn it, is there not one brave warrior who can defeat this high-ranking boss Devil Tyrannosaurus?” roared Chieftain Cain.
The players all lowered their heads. The battle had been raging for over two hours, with dozens of highly skilled players entering the fray, none lasting more than two minutes.
A seductress whispered in explanation, “The Original Blood Clan delights in gladiatorial combat. This city gate is enchanted and sealed shut, utterly impenetrable–stronger even than the walls–and the only rune that can break the magic has been swallowed by the Devil Tyrannosaurus. Only by defeating it in single combat can one retrieve the rune, requiring one to bring an army of at least forty thousand Silver Elite or better. If they lose, they will be devoured, only strengthening the field, making it utterly unbreakable.”
“So that’s it. The fortress leverages the terrain, standing much higher than usual, and the enemy’s air forces are exceptionally strange. These mutated creatures are also very strong. The players’ forces are too disparate; a direct assault to take this city is impossible,” said Li Yao.
“Even the main force of NPCs has failed to take it by storm; players stand even less chance,” the seductress nodded in agreement.
“What’s this, so many valiant warriors and yet no one dares to enter the fray?” Chieftain Cain said.
“I’ll go,” a Paladin declared, stepping forward while summoning his elite legion of forty thousand.
A gasp arose from the players, evidently recognizing a famed expert.
“Hehe, little friend, you’re back for more? Didn’t I tell you last time, the battlefield is no place for children to play? Best you go play with mud in some neutral camp with the other kids,” a sinister voice reached several ears.
“Great Turkey, you bastard, I’ll have my revenge, just you wait,” Tonton immediately fumed with anger.
The speaker, his hair fiery like flames and his voice effeminate yet with an Adam’s apple – clearly a man – chuckled, “I’ll be waiting. Oh, isn’t this Starfire, the Turtle Guild Leader, finally poking his head out?”
“Miss, who are you calling a scaredy-turtle?” Li Yao glanced at him and retorted.
Blood Lion’s face darkened, and his eyes flared, “Ni Ma, who are you calling miss?”
“Ah, my apologies, I thought with your age you’d be married by now, but since you’re not, I suppose you’re an old maid then,” Li Yao said with an apologetic face.
The players around burst into roaring laughter, and Blood Lion’s face grew red with rage. He hated most when people called him effeminate, although he did indeed look the part…
