Chapter 1146 - Chapter 1146 Chapter 1146 Dead End

Chapter 1146: Chapter 1146: Dead End Chapter 1146: Chapter 1146: Dead End The Worm Tribe retreated and hundreds of Mechanical Battle Puppets gathered together–they had fought too fiercely. By now, their ammunition and energy were almost depleted. Although the Battle Puppets had been fighting for a long time and had special power and energy sources,

after such a period of intense combat without any chance of replenishment, and fighting continuously on their own, they now relied solely on their operational energy reserves and Li Yao’s sheer power to fight. Although their lethality was still strong, it was no longer possible for them to be as unstoppable as they were in the beginning.

“Fortunately, these are just low-level Mechanical Battle Puppets. If they had their own life energy, I might have lost this time,” Li Yao sighed in relief. Now, the Combat Puppet Legion was at the end of its tether.

In fact, Li Yao had sustained heavy losses as well. If these legions had continued fighting for another hour, he would have collapsed, and failure would have been inevitable. But luckily, the Goddess of Fortune was still on his side.

Li Yao glanced over the battlefield–of the original 180,000 Fire Poison Cockroaches, just over 50,000 remained; 10,000 Self-Detonating Wasps; 30,000 Parasites; all the Corrosive Worms were depleted; 30,000 Breakers remained, and 15,000 were still hunting.

This was still thanks to endlessly creating more with energy; otherwise, a collapse would have likely occurred sooner.

The main forces of several legions had each brought many people, surrounding the few hundred Mechanical Puppets.

“Our Mechanical Puppet Legion has fought in over a hundred battles under our Lord’s command. Will we surrender?” the leader of the Combat Puppet Legion said to his subordinates, looking at the enclosing crowd.

“Fight to the death!”

“Annihilate these traitors!”

None of the few hundred surrendered, and seeing this, those currently besieging them flashed a hint of shame in their eyes.

“Master, these people are unreliable. They can betray the Gryphon Lord today; it’s possible they will betray you tomorrow,” the Dragon Queen said.

“I know that, but by the time they betray me, I expect I’ll be in a similar situation as the Gryphon Lord. They are not my main force, and they will not be,” Li Yao said as he patted Collet’s shoulder, “Moreover, most of these men will be under Collet’s command in the future. It will then be on Collet’s tactics; consider it a test. If you succeed, you’ll become my major general, defending a territory. If you fail, forget about vengeance and embrace an early death; you’re not suited for such matters.”

“Lord, I will definitely not fail your expectations,” Collet finally felt relieved.

Actually, his strength was much less compared to that of the other legion commanders, and he was no longer the only candidate to lead the Mechanical Legion. Hearing what Li Yao said made him feel reassured; he resolved to effectivey command his subordinates, as Li Yao mentioned. If he managed well, this would lay the foundation for his revenge, but if it failed, any betrayal would begin with his death, and if he couldn’t handle this minor situation, there would be no talk of vengeance.

Those legions that had surrendered to Li Yao did not want to kill these people, but since they had betrayed and there was no turning back–the Gryphon Lord wouldn’t spare them, nor the new lord.

“Kill!”

“Kill!”

“Kill!”

The Comprehensive Legion took the lead, and the grand battle finally began. The Mechanical Puppet Legion, as formidable as it was, was now at the end of its rope and completely depleted of supplies. Within five minutes, hundreds of Mechanical Puppets fell to the ground, and all the Mechanics inside them died in combat.

Li Yao was having the scattered Worm Tribe clean up the battlefield, with the Energy Conversion Pool frantically converting energy. From the corpses of the dwarves and gnomes, to the shattered Puppet Beasts and even the collapsed, stony debris–all were thrown into the Energy Conversion Pool by the worms.

“Lord of Prairie Fire, dare you face me in battle?” The leader of the Mechanical Puppet Legion pointed his Golden Greatsword at Li Yao.

“You’re just at the end of your rope now, but alright, I respect your loyalty. I will personally send you off,” Li Yao looked towards the Frame Space, eyeing another Mechanical Puppet with a greatsword.

Li Yao dismantled his remote Gatling and, with only a greatsword, slowly approached the Mechanical Puppet Battalion Commander.

“So, you’re just a junior leader,” the Legion Commander finally understood Li Yao’s rank as he spoke, “but I didn’t expect to be defeated by such a minor figure. Well, given your courage to accept the challenge, I admit defeat gracefully.”

“You’re not bad either,” Li Yao said as his greatsword, trailing afterimages, slashed toward the Legion Commander.

Clang…

The two greatswords collided. Li Yao’s sword developed a notch, but the Legion Commander’s puppet countered the recoil with flame spray.

“Impossible, your strength…” The Legion Commander’s face was filled with disbelief. Even after activating ‘Descent of the Gods,’ he had still lost in a contest of strength.

“There’s nothing impossible here.” Flames burst out behind Li Yao as he closed in again, his greatsword slashing once more at the opponent’s puppet.

The opponent blocked again, aiming at the notch on Li Yao’s greatsword, evidently trying to break it by exploiting its inferior quality.

Time Deceleration!

Li Yao suddenly activated time deceleration; everything around him slowed down, but not Li Yao. His greatsword changed trajectory with a flash, striking heavily at the weak point of the puppet’s mechanical arm.

After a prolonged battle, even a high-quality puppet would exhibit weak and flawed spots due to corrosion by the Corrosive Worms.

Under normal circumstances, the blue-quality greatsword in Li Yao’s puppet should not have been able to sever the opponent’s mechanical arm, but the Titan’s Eye allowed him to directly analyze all the puppet’s conditions.

Accompanied by a crisp clash, the opposing mechanical arm fell off.

However, before he could react, Li Yao moved again.

Trace of Time!

Li Yao returned to the movement where he had just raised his greatsword to strike.

Time Deceleration!

This time, Li Yao’s figure flashed to the other side, but he did not strike at the mechanical arm; instead, he hit a critical juncture.

Boom…

The mechanical puppet erupted in a shower of sparks and clattered backwards through the air.

However, to the astonished onlookers, Li Yao’s figure was unbelievably fast, flickering twice, and the formidable race-level leader, along with his mechanical puppet, was flung away.

To others, everything happened too quickly, in less than a second, but in reality, more than a second had passed for Li Yao.

Those surrendering officers were stunned. The Mechanical Puppet Legion Commander, who was ranked among the top three combatants at Gryphon Castle even without his puppet, was no match for the Gryphon Lord when equipped with his mechanical puppet. Yet, under the hands of Li Yao, this junior leader, the commander couldn’t last even a few seconds.

The blackened Legion Commander catapulted out and fell amidst the ruins. Li Yao’s figure flashed, and his greatsword rested upon the opponent’s neck…
