Chapter 1129 - Chapter 1129 Chapter 1129 Night Market
Chapter 1129: Chapter 1129: Night Market Chapter 1129: Chapter 1129: Night Market Of course, these were all estimates from Li Yao and, actually, he wasn’t sure how much they could produce. Their production capability could keep up and their conversion speed was fine, but whether there were enough bodies depended on how intense the battles would be over the next three days.
Li Yao had found it quite easy to obtain the Mechanical Legion, as the players had already spontaneously formed a night market.
It was an organization specially set up for virtual business, where they were responsible for arranging stalls and setting up well-lit street lamps–all one needed was some money to rent a stall.
This was inevitable because the continent had expanded significantly. Going to the auction house was a hassle now, especially for those like them who were tens of thousands of miles away from the main city. Where there were many players, naturally, a buying and selling hub emerged. In fact, this trading had never stopped; it had just grown more vibrant due to the increased distances.
On the War Continent, the best hard currency was naturally the various species of troops. Li Yao had discovered a trading center like this on the plains the next day.
The next day, the battle was still fierce and Li Yao watched gleefully; Bulls Cannon and his wife, Meng Ke, didn’t understand. Li Yao clearly had two deputy heroes and was definitely strong, and as a Dwarf, he would certainly need a Gryphon Legion.
But Li Yao just didn’t sign up for the contest and, instead, remained cheerful, which puzzled them. They thought Li Yao just enjoyed watching these players’ legions duke it out.
But in reality, Li Yao was looking at his own Worm Tribe army expanding and was secretly delighted, though he kept that to himself.
That evening, just as Li Yao was about to rest, Bulls Cannon pulled him aside and said he’d take him to a great place.
Li Yao and a few others arrived at the nearby so-called night market. Li Yao suddenly understood when he saw the bustling crowd and the stalls lining the temporary streets–he smiled even more happily.
“No need for me to introduce what this is all about, everyone surely has things they need, so let’s split up for now, that’ll be more efficient, and no need to gather up either, just head back to the tent to sleep when you’re tired,” Bulls Cannon suggested.
Li Yao nodded and said, “That sounds very good.”
With that, Bulls Cannon and his wife went their own way, and Li Yao walked a few steps before realizing Meng Ke was still on the same path as him. He asked, “What’s this?”
“I don’t really have anything to buy or sell. What we have is just for internal consumption, and it’s boring alone, so I’ll walk with you. How about that, is my presence inconvenient? If so, then I’ll leave,” Meng Ke offered.
With her saying that, how could Li Yao find it inconvenient? He responded, “No, not at all. It’s my honor to have a beautiful woman accompany me. Others might not even have this chance.”
Meng Ke chuckled, “Maybe in the game, you find me beautiful because of my Druid class combined with elf characteristics, but in reality, I might just be an ordinary girl.”
Li Yao thought to himself, she was so vain, anyone gullible enough to believe that would be a fool. But he merely said, “How could that be? Aura isn’t something you can have just by changing racial traits, and besides, even if you’re ordinary in reality, this is the game, and here it’s enough that you’re beautiful. After all, we’re merely acquaintances, there’s no intersection in reality, and what does beauty or ugliness matter?”
“You seem very honest at a glance, but I didn’t expect you to be so sly,” Meng Ke said lightly, laughing.
Li Yao was speechless. This counted as sweet talk, but it was best not to guess what was on a woman’s mind. He just smiled and began to look at the items on each stall.
It had to be said, more players meant better items, such as equipment, medicine, special items, and some random things that players didn’t understand. Of course, the most numerous were the trades involving various types of troops.
Due to the large number of players from different factions and races, along with players from various planets, the troops were also a mixed bag.
However, the majority were cannon fodder, with the most common being low-level mechanicals and undead species.
The undead species generally included Skeletons, Goblin Eaters, and Blood Servants, among which Skeletons were the cheapest.
There were also quite a few mechanical soldiers, including Mechanical Birds and Leopards, a few Battle Puppets, and even some powerful Cannons, Stone Throwers, complex crossbow machines, and various mechanical vehicles.
However, compared to the popular undead species, the purchase and circulation rates of mechanical species were much lower, with many going unasked for.
The mechanical soldiers, Mechanical Birds and Leopards, were strong and quite special. Even novice engineering players could command them, but the problem was, these things were expensive. Made from a variety of metals, even if a lower-tier soldier was crudely made, they were still not sold cheaply.
But if they were expensive, nobody bought them. Even though the combat power of a Goblin Eater was a bit less than that of a Mechanical Leopard, it wasn’t much less. However, the price of one Mechanical Leopard could buy three Goblin Eaters, making the Mechanical Legion somewhat awkward.
Those war engineering machines, which required proficiency in engineering, could only unleash their power with at least a fifth-tier or higher level of engineering. The lower the engineering skills, the weaker the performance. Although ordinary people could use them, the cost-effectiveness ratio was disproportionate, making them a poor investment. After all, these devices were also very expensive.
As for the mechanical vehicles, they had stringent requirements for engineering proficiency. Even the lowest tier mechanical vehicle required advanced engineering skills.
So the question arose, aside from Li Yao, nearly all high-level engineering players were those who practiced engineering as a lifestyle.
The combat profession players had their engineering stuck at the upper intermediate level, still struggling to reach advanced levels. Naturally, these lower-tier mechanical vehicles didn’t serve much purpose.
“How come you want to buy these lower-level mechanical soldiers?” Meng Ke saw that Li Yao was only looking at the mechanical soldiers on each stall and asked curiously.
“Yes, you’ve seen it, I have a deputy hero who is a Dwarf. His specialty is leading mechanical soldiers to be effective, so I want to buy some,” Li Yao was not short on money now.
“Forgive me for being blunt, but the Mechanical Legion is indeed powerful. That’s true when fully equipped, especially the lower-level mechanical soldiers. It’s hard for players to assemble a complete Mechanical Legion at this stage. These Mechanical Birds and Leopards are just so powerful and quite expensive. Without the appropriate personnel to control those war machines, they can’t be effectively utilized, adding up to a very low cost-benefit ratio. Your other deputy hero is a Vampire, right? I suggest you arm your Vampires more for now, or buy more Vampires; it’s the fastest way to enhance your strength,” Meng Ke advised.
“I understand, and thank you for the reminder, but I still want to build up the Mechanical Legion,” Li Yao said as he continued to look at the next stall.
“Tsk, some people just can’t appreciate sincere advice.”…
