Chapter 1107 - Chapter 1107 Chapter 117 Secret Chamber
Chapter 1107: Chapter 117: Secret Chamber Chapter 1107: Chapter 117: Secret Chamber Wangyu was actually quite happy, “This battle wasn’t for nothing. We’ve gained a lot, our cannon fodder troops have all been replaced with Mechanical Beasts. They are much stronger than those low-level Skeletons, and each of us has been supplemented with quite a few Elite Undead. Our forces have almost reached twenty thousand.”
“It’s a pity, the Lord of this fortress was really rich, he actually had a trick up his sleeve and let himself slip away. Otherwise, if we had captured him, I estimate our military strength could have broken twenty thousand,” Jasmine said, feeling regretful about the final battle.
“There was nothing we could do. Who would have thought he had such a huge rocket to blast himself to the skies? By the time the pursuers got there, he was already fleeing in an airplane. Damn it, he took advantage of the fact that we don’t have any aerial mounts.”
Everyone else also expressed their regrets, but there was nothing they could do. Once he had run away, that was it, and they were powerless to change it.
“Brother, why are you so distracted?” Wangyu asked.
Li Yao was exchanging intelligence with Collet inside, having learned some very important information, and was feeling pleased; he had no interest in chit-chatting with them.
“I didn’t sleep well yesterday. The battle was very taxing, and I’m short on energy,” Li Yao casually made up an excuse.
“Here, this supply carriage – we can let someone rest on it. We don’t know how long the journey will be anyway, so you might as well take a nap,” Jasmine suggested.
“Thanks a lot,” Li Yao didn’t stand on ceremony. They were following the military convoy, which allowed one or two people to rest in a carriage; this was another perk of accompanying the army.
The army was now setting off, and they were still unsure of their destination.
“Brother, this won’t do. If you had a wife, I’m guessing you would have an even harder time.”
Upon hearing this, everyone burst into laughter.
Jasmine, with pursed lips, said, “Our last spotted target is still far away, probably a few hours. We’ll call you when it’s time.”
Li Yao nodded, then made his way to the supply carriage and leaned against it, pretending to doze off.
Half an hour later, a Scout rushed over: “Wangyu Catastrophe Ten-Thousand-Man Team, it’s your turn to patrol.”
The nine of them didn’t wake Li Yao but instead summoned some troops and, according to military orders, scouted the surrounding environment.
Meanwhile, Li Yao took advantage of the distraction to project his soul out of his body, transforming into his Death God form and slipping away from the group in the shadows.
Later, Li Yao even summoned the Giant Dragon Queen and swiftly returned to the vicinity of the original fortress in the high skies.
“Are you sure your Lord owns an underground armory?” Li Yao stood on a hillside, surveying the surrounding environment.
Collet looked at the Giant Dragon Queen with awe, and the little scheming thoughts in his mind disappeared in an instant. His new object of loyalty could actually tame such a powerful World-level Chief Giant Dragon, so where was his will to resist? He also felt that his moment of fortune was about to arrive.
“I’m certain. That guy’s wife told me herself. She said this is his secret stronghold he built, and inside are the belongings his father prepared for him to become a higher-ranking Lord. It’s just a pity that no one expected the sub-dimension fusion; otherwise, why would such a well-connected guy end up here?” Collet explained.
Li Yao glanced at his proudly unrestrained white beard, “With that face of yours able to charm a Lord’s wife, your dwarven aesthetics sure are something.”
“The Lord, you’re insulting me. In our dwarf community, which female dwarf wouldn’t see my beard and her eyes light up green? I am the most handsome of the new generation,” Collet continued with a grievance, “Besides, his wife grew up with me as childhood sweethearts. If it weren’t for that bastard, our children would already be running around everywhere. Following you, my Lord, is just so I can keep on living. Otherwise, I’d have no chance to win back the love of my life.”
Li Yao hadn’t expected that a spur-of-the-moment recruitment would lead to such a melodramatic situation. He said, “You were originally worried about your love rival, old man, but now that you’re with me, you naturally don’t have to worry. How about this, you try your best to recruit more dwarves, and when we take over a big city, I’ll make you the Lord of that city. Then you can wipe out his family, how’s that?”
Collet’s eyes suddenly shone brightly, “I, a commoner, can become a hero, can be a city lord?”
“Why not? Under my command, there are already three small cities, and each city’s territory is at least one-tenth the size of your Dead Light Area. The Queen sent me here to expand our territory, and as her disciple, I have full autonomy. Offering you a city to manage is a trivial matter.” Li Yao bluffed solemnly, mixing truth with fiction, and Collet’s eyes gleamed even brighter.
“Three oak trees in a triangular formation, my Lord, this is the place, there’s no mistake, this is where the entrance lies,” Collet pointed at the distance and said.
As Li Yao and his men approached, Starfire, in her dark dragon form, said, “This must be a magical array with hidden functionality. Indeed the work of sub-dimension natives, so crude.”
Collet immediately took offense, “This is a concealed Array. If I didn’t have the incantations known only to me, along with the special password to unlock it, no one could open it.”
“That’s why I say you’re bumpkins. Just a hiding Array with no other supporting Arrays, what good is that, let me open it.”
The staff in Starfire’s hand vibrated violently, causing the ground to crack extensively. With a thunderous rumble, the three great trees turned to dust from the shock, and Collet stood agape as a stairway leading underground appeared before them.
“I’ll do it this time, let me do it,” Collet hurried down the passageway in front of the tightly shut gate, afraid that Starfire might once again steal his thunder.
A rune lock secured the gate, which Collet quickly unlocked. Li Yao smiled slightly and followed them inside.
Even the composed Li Yao was slightly taken aback by what lay below. This time, a real fortune had been struck.
Seeing Li Yao’s astonished gaze, Collet said proudly, “My Lord, this stuff was prepared by that bastard’s father for his strength upgrade to a higher-level fortress. Now, it all belongs to you, the great Lord. It’s just, it’ll be a bit of trouble to take it all away.”
The space was vast, at least the size of a basketball court, filled densely with supplies.
In a corner, there were around twenty large crates. Li Yao saw three crates of Thorium, three crates of Mithril, three crates of Truesilver, and the rest were all Gold Ingots.
Then there were mountains of Iron and Copper Ingots, and in the middle were some ready-made weapons.
Over a hundred fifth-tier fortress cannons, more than three hundred fifth-tier Gatling guns, including fifty sixth-tier ones. And then there were hundreds of large crates of ammo.
“Heh heh, his father had thought of everything for him; these mountains of metal ingots were for crafting Mechanical Beasts. There are some practical auxiliary machines too; never thought they would end up benefitting you, my Lord,” Collet laughed heartily.
“The stuff is good, but we can’t use them; we have our strongholds, and as for fifth-tier Gatlings, only fifth-tier soldiers can use them effectively, let alone the sixth-tier ones–might as well just have fun with one or two of them,” Li Yao pretended to be composed, but inside, he was ecstatic.
With these fortress cannons, Starfire’s little city would become impregnable…
