Feng Yi summoned a race-level metallic Skeleton, at least five yards tall, whose body was as if cast from an unknown metal. This was a summoning medium dropped by a boss they had slain not long ago at Titan’s Relics with their guild.

The rest of the Undead summoners also called forth strange creatures, with even the least impressive among them able to summon a boss-level monster.

They formed a defensive line, firmly blocking the entrance to the Underground Palace. Beside them, Skeleton Mages with hands radiating blue light were summoned one after another, completely sealing off the entrance.

Li Yao had absolute faith in his teammates’ abilities. Once he issued a command, he no longer paid attention to it and instead issued a series of orders.

“Guardian, lead your people to defend the left breach, Water Fruit defend the second breach on the left, and Zhan Tianxia, you guard the smallest breach on the right. However, the warriors, each holding a shield-sized sword and fervently combatant, had immense strength, easily dismembering the Sword Wolf Spiders with a single stroke.

The breach on Water Fruit Knight’s side was not small, but behind her stood the highly disciplined Sacred Teaching army. They remained silent, their coordination exceptionally tacit, successfully solidifying their hold on the gap.

At the main entrance of the hall, as Li Yao gave his orders, a black vortex appeared. Five hundred Poisonous Mantises took up positions at the main entrance and over half of the hall, clashing with the swarming magic spiders.

The flame-spewing mantises breathed out venomous fire while those on the outer layer engaged in close combat with various magic spiders.

Then, Li Yao summoned two hundred Dark Rangers and his own ranged Skeletons behind the hall, instantly filling the hall with a sea of fighters.

Rogues and assassins made suitable Scouts, but in formal combat, once a rogue used up all their survival skills, they were as good as dead–a stark contrast to melee fighters such as warriors.

Over a dozen rogues dispersed to support several gaps; the healers spread out as well. In reality, they were hardly needed on the frontlines, overwhelmed by the sheer number of mantids, too many for them to keep up with healing.

Moreover, Li Yao did not intend for them to heal the mantids. Given the mantids’ strong regenerative abilities coupled with the fungi mats, although they weren’t immortal, they were extremely difficult to kill.

Hunting over a thousand magic spiders had resulted in the loss of only about one hundred mantids–indicative of their resilience, and that’s only because of the mobile warfare; otherwise, the casualties would have been even fewer.

Evolution, on the other hand, was a beneficial change, a general enhancement and strengthening of certain abilities, and it had relatively simpler conditions.

For example, if the queen’s defensive abilities were strengthened, the worm tribe’s armor would be enhanced. If the queen chose to improve mobility, then the tribe’s movement abilities would also increase.

Depending on the choice made, many variations could arise, which is why, even within the same worm tribe, or even when the race and mutation layers were the same, abilities could still differ.
