Chapter 1068: Chapter 1068: The Age of Great Voyages Chapter 1068: Chapter 1068: The Age of Great Voyages Li Yao said, “So you found them? I thought their ships were hidden on some secluded island in the Endless Sea. I didn’t expect they’d also know to use a scroll to cover their tracks. They specialize in maritime trade–I’d guess there are no fewer than a hundred ships.”
Unparalleled Enchantress shook her head: “You’ve underestimated them. According to the stats, there are five medium warships, fifteen small warships, fifty medium merchant ships, and two hundred small merchant ships.”
Li Yao took a sharp breath: “Damn, I regret it now. I should have demanded compensation of more than 500,000 Gold Coins. That’s just outrageous. Even if they’re doing maritime trade, they couldn’t possibly have that many merchant ships.”
Li Yao was truly shocked. Starfire’s trade fleet barely totaled a dozen or so vessels that could only transport some supplies and food. While profitable, it wasn’t enough to make a fortune.
The Berserker Guild was different; they were engaged in genuine maritime trade, doing business with Goblins, which was definitely hugely lucrative. Nearly three hundred ships–Li Yao couldn’t even begin to imagine how much they must be making.
Looking down at the ashen-faced Frenzied War Unparalleled, Li Yao said, “I really did underestimate you. To have such a fleet, if I had known, I would’ve asked for a million.”
Frenzied War Unparalleled’s expression changed: “You can’t touch those merchant ships.”
“That’s not up to you,” Li Yao retorted. Not touch them? As if. With this trade fleet, the people of Starfire could partner up to charter or buy ships for maritime trade. Originally, Li Yao had planned on buying cargo ships at a high price through Undercity connections, but now he had saved a bundle. Why wouldn’t he be happy about that?
Frenzied War Unparalleled said, “To tell you the truth, only thirty of the ships belong to our guild. You can take those, but the others are not ours. They are investments by many businessmen in reality.”
Li Yao finally understood why the Berserker Guild could accumulate such wealth. With powerful backers providing substantial capital, they could amass riches quickly. How could he, who started with nothing, compete with that? As someone who had been reborn without capital, and relying solely on himself, he wasn’t as rich as the Berserker Guild, of course–that was because he didn’t want to waste too much time.
“So it’s your investors backing you, huh? With such strong support, you should’ve just kept quiet and made your fortune. Why bother provoking me?” Li Yao sneered. “Besides, they are your investors, not mine. Why should I care about them? These ships are my spoils of war. If they dare, let them come to me for compensation.”
Frenzied War Unparalleled rolled his eyes: “If you’re not afraid of offending them, then do as you please.”
Frenzied War Unparalleled would be glad for Li Yao to take those ships. That way, the people behind him would support him even more, and only by relying on the Berserker Guild would they stand a chance of getting back at Starfire. Otherwise, those investment-focused weaklings had no hope of retaliating against Starfire.
Another half-hour passed before Li Yao waved his hand: “Alright, the looting’s finished. Let’s pull out. No need for farewells.”
Following Li Yao’s command, Starfire’s people retreated in an orderly manner, swiftly disappearing. A hundred warships escorted more than two hundred merchant ships as they rapidly left the port.
At the same time, the System’s announcement of Starfire’s victory appeared before everyone.
Seeing the mess made of Berserker Guild’s base, all the spectators were speechless, and many other guilds were green with envy.
Soon after, the System continuously announced various guilds declaring war on each other. Clearly, they too were stimulated and wanted a shot at a windfall.
The survivors from Berserker Guild breathed a sigh of relief, but at the sight of their empty base, they wanted to cry but had no tears. Damn it, those Starfire bastards were too ruthless, they thought. Not only valuable things but even tables and chairs had been hauled away. Even the paintings on the walls that provided attribute boosts had been taken down, not a single one left, leaving nothing behind but empty buildings, as if locusts had swept through.
The members of Starfire, however, were unconcerned with these woes; they already knew that their military rewards would be doubled, and they were jubilant at the prospect.
Moreover, the guild’s venture into lending Gold Coins had also begun, and through the Berserker Guild, members understood the benefits of naval adventures. Now, hearing that the guild was offering almost interest-free loans for their capital to engage in seafaring trade, everyone was incredibly excited.
Many familiar faces began discussing borrowing money together and then renting the guild’s merchant ships for ocean voyages. Their followers were naturally thrilled as well, because if the people they were loyal to had money, they were sure to reap some benefits, especially by participating in the sea adventures–it would be a substantial income for them.
The morale of the people from Starfire was so high that they couldn’t wait to continue the war.
Li Yao did not let them down either. After returning and regrouping, as one day passed and rewards were distributed, Starfire declared war again, this time against Cat Walks the World, a neutral faction guild far from Starfire’s location.
One could say it was across the entire continent, but players could quickly arrive there through “Hearthstone” or teleportation.
But to take an army from Starfire and travel there, it would take several days just for the voyage. After all, sailing your own ship required passing through many sea routes and circumnavigating the continent; it was too much effort.
This guild knew they were exposed, but in their eyes, they were so far from Starfire that an attack was improbable, so they were somewhat complacent.
However, Starfire declared war anyway. The moment they did, Li Yao activated the now-cooldown Gate of War. After consecutive battles, the Gate of War had evolved, now requiring only a day’s cooldown.
And after accumulating a massive amount of energy from the battles, Li Yao could use the Gate of War ten times in a row without any problems.
Just like Prosperous Era, this guild was not tense after the war declaration; they prepared leisurely, as they believed it would take Starfire days to come to them, so they had plenty of time.
But as soon as the war began, alarms sounded. It was only when they saw the Starfire fleet appearing at their doorstep that they panicked.
But by then, it was too late. Well-prepared as the Frenzied War Unparalleled Guild was, they were still no match for Starfire, let alone a base with virtually no preparations.
Starfire’s air force took off, and with gliders, they breached the city gate in five minutes. Within ten minutes, the city walls were in Starfire’s control.
In half an hour, the barracks and inns were destroyed, and within one hour the battle was over. In that hour, Starfire reaped nearly two hundred thousand heads,
and to quickly take down the enemy, a great part of them were trapped inside the inns, unable to come out, which was a slight disappointment to Li Yao. However, obtaining over forty thousand energy units was still quite satisfying.
Next, Starfire demolished the place, and then, without rest, they declared war on another Alien Guild an hour after the battle ended, catching them completely by surprise, and within an hour, it fell.
Realizing Starfire’s formidable combat strength and terrifying legion teleportation capability, the guilds that intercepted Starfire were completely panic-stricken.
After that Starfire declared war successively, but upon arrival, aside from destroying the enemy’s bases, there was barely any loot left, as the remaining guilds no longer dared to fight. They evacuated their bases, letting Starfire vent their fury.
In three days, Starfire had destroyed the bases of twenty-five guilds, causing a sensation throughout the ancient gods…
