Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva -
Chapter 974 - 92 The Curtain Falls and Ends on the Adventure
The adventure continued. Over the next few days, the six companions completed the Royal City's dungeon, then responded to the King's summons to join the plan to defeat the Demon King. They traveled north along the road, traversing the labyrinth within the desert ruins, defeating the ancient half-lion, and acquiring ancient knowledge. Subsequently, they followed directions to the Valley of Slumber. In the dark and quiet Valley of Slumber, Tilan and her companions encountered various formidable magical beasts, ultimately discovering the reclusive Sage deep within the forest.
The Sage revealed secrets about the Demon King and claimed that defeating the Demon King required finding "love."
"What exactly is 'love'?"
"I don't know. Everyone interprets 'love' differently. The key is whether you can be sure that this is the 'love' you're seeking," the Sage said. After that, no matter how much they asked, he would say no more.
Faced with this ancient riddle, each member of the six-person party had their own thoughts. Following the hints given, they split up to search for their own "love."
Shui Yanqing returned to a town along the way and saw the people she had once helped. They built a statue of her—depicting a brave and serene blue-haired, beautiful girl standing with a sword.
Blanchi cured a long-ailing grandmother in a distant village, and children gathered around her, bringing her immense joy.
Ores flew over the Royal City on her dragon, once again greeted by cheers. The people prayed that this formidable Dragon Knight Princess would emerge victorious.
Audrey traveled across lands with her seven-stringed zither, spreading the tale of their six-person adventure and turning it into a well-known legend.
Prin ventured deep into the scorching volcano, where she embraced the surging magic power within its depths, ascending to greater strength.
Tilan passed through the Fairyland forest, where she fell into a deep sleep among the fairies during their conversation.
...
The final battle began.
The scattered girls reunited—among them was the blue-haired Hero wielding the Holy Sword, the commoner Saintess holding a divine artifact, the Dragon Knight adorned with a silver crown, the legendary troubadour who composed seven epic verses, and the Volcano Queen who mastered the forbidden destruction spell.
The five formed the legendary party and set off to challenge the Demon King who ruled the world.
On their journey, countless adventurers and warriors surrounded them. Like an unstoppable tide, the army defeated demon dukes and powerful fighters one after another until they stood before the gates of Demon King City.
Yet the Demon King's strength surpassed everyone's imagination. His shadow engulfed the skies, his maniacal laughter drowned the world, and his immortal body brought despair.
First to fall was the Hero, collapsing from exhaustion.
Next was the Dragon Knight, whose battle axe was shattered into two pieces as it was struck and sent flying.
Then came the Volcano Queen, who fell into the endless void sea, a spear piercing through her body as she recited her forbidden spell.
Following her was the Saintess, holding a water vessel divine artifact. She was struck down by the Demon King while shielding others to give them a chance to escape.
Lastly, there was the grieving troubadour. Though she survived, she was left hopeless and without spirit.
"And what about the end of the story?"
Inside a small tavern, a child asked the downcast troubadour.
"Afterward, many, many years passed. People became accustomed to the Demon King's rule. The world established a new order, and eventually, he was no longer called the 'Demon King.'"
"What do they call him now?"
"Some say he is the great Emperor; some call him the Sage who heralded a new era; others say he is the Vesper who brought people out of the old world."
"And what happened after that?" The child, persistent as ever, continued asking.
"Later, he built a lasting empire—a vast empire stretching from distant border villages to the far north's Unfrozen Harbor, from the western barren deserts to the eastern highland cities."
"But wasn't the Demon King very bad?"
"The Demon King was indeed terrible. He killed countless people."
"So why doesn't anyone hate him now?"
"Because the ones he killed weren't us."
"Does that make the Demon King a hero?"
"No, the Demon King isn't a hero because he couldn't save everyone."
"Do people like the Demon King now?"
"Perhaps they do, because he sings very beautiful songs."
"Even though the story was thrilling, the ending doesn't seem very happy."
"That's true. Because what I narrate is a legend from the past, not a completely fabricated tale, it inevitably carries some regrets."
"But, really—really—is this where the story ends? It feels like there's so much left untold."
"I wish I could keep telling it, but time is running short. If you truly love this story, pass it on to others."
"One day, the story will continue, and new chapters will unfold."
...
Outside an amusement park, inside a corner drink shop, five young girls were sitting by the window table, with their ordered drinks placed in front of them.
"Has Tilan come out yet?" Prin asked, chewing on her straw as her legs playfully swung under the chair.
"She said she'd be here soon." Audrey glanced at the message she had just received on her personal terminal.
"It's a pity—we wanted to play through to the end, but now we have exams to prepare for. Idrylia suddenly showed up and scared me half to death," Blanchi said, still a bit shaken.
"You forgot about exam time, so it's only fair that Idrylia was mad," Shui Yanqing remarked, shaking her head.
"Luckily, Tilan remembered midway and negotiated with Idrylia to make time for us to come out today."
"Ah, I see Tilan!"
Following the words, the group turned their gaze out the window, spotting a black-haired girl wearing layered gauzy skirts. She waved goodbye to a few children inside the amusement park and then walked out.
Soon, the black-haired girl arrived at their table and sat down.
"Why'd it take so long, Tilan?"
"It wasn't supposed to take too long, but a parent had to leave suddenly and asked me to watch the kids for a little while, so I stayed a bit longer."
"Did you get the item?"
"Got it. Here's the chip," Tilan placed a small chip on the table.
"It contains our entire adventure and relevant data. Next time we come back, we can activate the save file."
"It's a shame we didn't have enough time. If we had just a few more days, we might've been able to face the Demon King."
"Don't know what level the Demon King is. We're almost max level; we should be able to beat him, right?"
"Hard to say. Who knows what mechanics the Demon King has?"
"Guess we'll have to wait for next time."
"Yeah, let's go. Time to get ready for exams."
"It's really over now." Blanchi, sitting by the window, looked somewhat reluctantly toward the amusement park in the distance. Layers upon layers of its towering structure resembled an endless spire, with different scenery and environments on each level. This grand construct had created a wondrous and captivating world, one she had been completely immersed in for the past two weeks.
"I hope we can come back again. Next time, though, I won't choose the Healer role. I'll definitely pick the warrior class and become the Hero who saves the world."
