Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva -
Chapter 940 - 79 Alanna's Three Choices_4
"Let me ask the lady first, then I'll let you go upstairs." Tilan and Ailu Kelu share a good relationship, as all the Beastmen guards around them are well aware.
'No need, let them come over.'
Just as he was about to approach and ask, a familiar voice sounded in his mind.
"Alrighty." He pulled back the step he'd just taken, turned around under Alanna's perplexed gaze, and made way.
"You can go up now. The lady already knows."
The three of them ascended the staircase, winding around a few corners before finally reaching the third floor. Compared to the two levels below, this place felt like an entirely different world—quiet, adorned with numerous purple decorations. Luxurious and rare Dusk Mountain violet silk hung as drapes, dividing the space. From time to time, one could spot purple porcelain, fans, tassels, and other ornaments scattered about.
When the three arrived at the innermost area, they finally met tonight's honored guest.
Seated on the sole chair in the room was a girl with violet cat ears. She had one leg propped up on the chair beneath her, revealing black over-the-knee socks. Paired with her punk-style skirt and jacket, the ensemble presented a striking visual impact.
Closest to her were two rabbit-eared girls, standing by and supporting the chair. On either side stood several silent, burly Beastmen guards. Behind them, a neon backdrop roughly five meters tall displayed pixelated images of a cat-eared Songstress dancing and singing animatedly. Unfortunately, only faint hints of music drifted up from the floor below; no songs were being played in the room itself.
"Ta-da~ Can you guess who I am?" Ailu Kelu teased in a playful, mischievous tone as she looked at Alanna standing before her. The singer was moderately famous in Academy City, so naturally, Alanna recognized her.
"You are... the Songstress, Ailu Kelu," Alanna murmured, her pupils contracting with a surge of nervous unease.
Compared to her little antics, the Songstress was now a genuine bigshot in the Federation, a power capable of influencing the balance of the Star Domain. And yet, Alanna had openly stated slogans opposing figures like her. Confronted with the actual Songstress, it was no surprise she was overcome with profound anxiety.
"Your courage seems a bit lacking—I expected you to be more bold and audacious," Ailu Kelu remarked, lightly pressing her radiant violet fingertip against her cheek as her gaze shifted to observe Alanna's nervous reaction.
"Now that you're face-to-face with the real Songstress, you're all stiff instead." With that, Ailu Kelu burst into laughter.
"Alright, alright, I won't scare you anymore. After all, it was... Zi Jin who asked me to look after you."
"Stand up first. I'm sure there's plenty you want to talk to me about. Since I've already promised Zi Jin, I'll make sure to take good care of you."
Now standing before the real Songstress, lying seemed pointless. It was no longer necessary to hide the truth, given this was the path she'd personally chosen. Slowly, Alanna began recounting the events of the past few years along with the thoughts she'd once harbored.
By this point, she'd completely abandoned any notions of rebelling against the Songstress. All she wanted now was to help her former comrades escape the grip of the Mystic Organization's threats, so everyone could return to peaceful and stable lives afterward.
Ah, it turned out that Sen and Zi Jin had been right all along. If she had known how things would end up, she never would have made grand declarations of rebellion in the first place. Such matters were far too distant for someone like her. Forget about opposing the Federation—even the large underground organizations in Academy City could crush them effortlessly.
It was all the foolish mistakes of youth. Alanna bit her lip, her heart filled with bittersweet reflection.
Although the situation hadn't been resolved yet, she knew that with the strength of the Songstress standing before her, it was only a matter of time before everything was settled.
The night deepened, but the din from the bar below continued unabated. Though the hour was late, for many, the night had only just begun.
