Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva -
Chapter 882 - 60 Gestalt-like Community_2
After a simple wash, Alanna blinked her eyes.
"A wash really does make one feel much better." She looked at her own wriggling toes, then picked up a tissue from the table nearby to dry them off.
Having done that, she put her feet back on the chair and pressed down, leaning back in the chair to make a phone call.
"Bring me a new pair of shoes, and socks too, white ones would be best."
"Okay."
A few minutes later, a young female assistant knocked and entered, unfazed by the messy scene in the lounge room, she put the new shoes and socks in front of Alanna.
"Do you need help putting them on?"
"No need." Alanna shook her head.
"Then I'll be out."
"Mhm, have the car ready, I'll be using it soon."
"No problem."
Half an hour later
The night wind howled, and Alanna, riding on a hover motorbike, looked down at the city filled with high rises, feeling particularly good.
'Another sleepless night~'
Then, she controlled the hover motorbike to dive down toward the city below, followed by a group of people also on hover motorbikes, their laughter and screams slicing through the night sky.
Near the Air Harbor of the Central District 7, due to frequent transport ships landing and taking off, the noise was not insignificant, and surrounding buildings couldn't be too tall, resulting in sparse human settlement, mostly frequented by trucks and Air Harbor workers.
In a corner of the sky, several Deep Purple meteors streaked by, and soon, a group of people riding hover motorbikes landed here.
White sneakers stepped on the rust-proof steel plate, kicking up a bit of dust, Alanna lightly pressed the brim of her hat, scanning the area.
"Old Heide said he had a surprise for me, yet there's not a soul to be seen?" She took another look around, indeed, this was the agreed-upon location.
"Maybe they haven't arrived yet?" A follower came forward and surveyed the surroundings too.
"It can't be a prank, right?"
"Impossible, Old Heide isn't a youngster who doesn't know the gravity of things." One of them leaned against the motorbike, ready to light up a cigarette.
"Shan, can you sense anything?" One of the entourage placed a hand on the shoulder of a young man among them.
Although Shan was a newcomer, his Talent was indeed high, and he was the person most able to sense other 'Connectors'.
"Let me try and see."
Because of the special nature of 'Connectors,' if there were others like themselves nearby, they would be able to sense them, but the strength of this ability varied. Some could only perceive others when very near.
Shan closed his eyes and, based on the special nature of 'Connectors,' expanded his sensing ability.
"Found them, but there seem to be few people." His eyes opened with a puzzled expression.
"Few means?"
"Only seven people, and they are coming this way." As soon as he finished speaking, spotlights at a corner of the cargo area turned on, and several familiar figures emerged.
"Old Heide, indeed it's him."
"Strange, why so cold today?" The others also sensed something was off.
"You're late, Miss." Old Heide walked out of the glow, revealing his slightly aged face, dressed in an industrial vest and short jacket, with somewhat worn cargo pants that were very clean.
Old Heide had once been a staff member of the Air Harbor. Although he never held a high position, he had been in this territory for decades and had extensive connections. Although not very wealthy, he could afford new clothes; his choice of clothing was mainly sentimentality because it represented his nearly fifty years of past life and was his trademark.
"Just you guys?" Alanna looked at Old Heide opposite her.
"Yeah, just us few."
"You said before, there were some new guys, wanted to meet the Miss, celebrate together."
"But, that was all lies." Old Heide's words were as deep as an engine clogged with carbon, heavy but familiar.
"Why?" Alanna asked.
"No reason, just a personal choice." He pulled out a cigarette from his pocket that hadn't been smoked in a long time, lit it, took a puff, slowly exhaled, and then coughed.
"I haven't smoked in 20 years, not since I had a grandson." He slowly spoke.
"Miss, don't think about where you've wronged me, in fact, you haven't. Back then when you found this old man still had some Talent, and then took me in, I've always been grateful."
"But I just have too many concerns, I can't follow Miss recklessly like the young fellas." He took another heavy drag from the cigarette, then threw it down, and stamped it out on the ground.
"Call it quits, Miss, continue being a big star, live a joyful and promising life. As for 'Connector' business, just forget about it."
"Forget?" For the first time, Alanna felt a nameless rage rising.
"You old man, don't infect me with your decaying thoughts that are about to be buried."
"Ha, this is the first time I've heard the Miss curse, but it's still not dirty enough. After all, when I worked at the Air Harbor, I heard countless curses." Old Heide laughed.
"Those drivers racing against time, employees frustrated by customs forms, workers shirking responsibility, I nearly hear them curse daily, and in a variety of creative ways."
"Honestly, after living this way for a long time, it does numb a person. I thought my life would just continue this way."
"I'm thankful to the Miss, because 'Connector' gave me a second chance at life, allowed me to see many different lives; this world indeed has so many amazing places."
"Sadly, the more I see, the deeper I understand, I realize some things just can't be stopped."
"Miss, if only you had the Talent of a Songstress, how great that would be. I wouldn't just risk my life to follow you, but could also convince a few kids to staunchly stand by your side."
