Chapter 506: Chapter 506: The Imprisoned Spiritual Beast (1)_1

"Heavenly Venerable, Sir!"

"General Gong!"

"Sect Master!"

The guards bowed one by one to them, and once they had passed, resumed their rigid postures.

Yong Xing and his two companions walked inside, and after a few turns, finally arrived at their destination—a major weapons manufacturing site.

"Heavenly Venerable, these are the weapons recently crafted by the artifact refiners." Jian Fengxing led Yong Xing into the armory, opened the grand doors, and showed Yong Xing the recent accomplishments.

The number of weapons in the armory was not large, but they were all above the level of divine artifacts. He nodded with satisfaction and said, "They’ve been working hard recently! Make sure to reward them generously afterwards."

"I will, Heavenly Venerable," Jian Fengxing said.

Yong Xing then went to observe the craftsmen who were currently refining artifacts below. Everyone had grown accustomed to Yong Xing’s unannounced visits, and after paying their respects, continued with their work. They were using advanced materials, and a single moment of carelessness could ruin an entire batch of valuable goods.

The artifact refiners were all working in a pit below, and as Yong Xing stood above them, observing the bustling scene, he said, "Zi Xiao has been making increasingly bold moves lately, and perhaps before long, there will be a great battle with the Nine Heavens Mysterious Realm. The Refiners Sect must ensure a steady supply of weapons. Tell them to hasten their efforts; we can’t have the battle start and still be waiting on the weapons."

"Understood, subordinate," Jian Fengxing said. "We will definitely complete all the weapons before the outbreak of the war!"

Gong Shi glanced at the people below and said, "Master, with Sect Master Jian here, weapons shouldn’t be a concern. I think what’s more important now is the elixirs. The Alchemist Sect has been unwilling to submit to us and won’t produce elixirs in large quantities for us. If the Alchemist Sect had a leader like Sect Master Jian, we would be much more at ease about the upcoming war."

Upon hearing about the Alchemist Sect, Yong Xing’s eyes emitted a cold and fierce light, and he said, "Give Xiahou Chun one more chance. If he still fails to recognize what’s best for him, then it may be time for the Alchemist Sect to have a new Sect Master!"

"Subordinate understands," Gong Shi replied.

"Now let’s see how the forging of the Divine Sword is coming along." Having said this, Yong Xing walked towards a deeper part of the cave, and about ten minutes later, they arrived at another stone chamber.

Compared to the hustle and bustle of the previous place, this chamber seemed much quieter, with only a dozen people inside. But these few individuals were concurrently operating an enormous cauldron.

Just like the great pit they had just left, Yong Xing, along with Jian Fengxing and Gong Shi, watched the giant cauldron ten meters square in the pit below, where molten lava churned around an unfinished sword standing in the middle, and a golden Qiuqiu tumbled around the blade within the lava...

Behind Forbidden Mountain, Dugu Qianye continued to carefully make her way forward. She had thought the area would be heavily guarded, like the outside, but to her surprise, she hadn’t encountered a single soul along the way. Still, she dared not let her guard down, for fear that Spiritual Beasts or something of the sort might detect her presence.

Having passed through the woods behind the mountain, Dugu Qianye could now see the great gates of the forbidden area from a distance. She stood at the edge of the woods, not daring to move forward. She did not know what lay ahead and rashly running forward might land her in danger.

Suddenly, two figures approached from the front. Their strength did not seem particularly formidable. Although she knew they couldn’t see her, Dugu Qianye instinctively retreated into the woods, preparing to hide in the tree behind her. She had just flown up to a branch when her foot slipped, and in trying to steady herself on the trunk, she accidentally pressed on a small bump.

"Whoosh—"

The earth beneath the tree roots suddenly parted, revealing a small hole just big enough for one person to pass through. Dugu Qianye looked curiously, and finally jumped down, then the hole closed up again.

"Hey, did you hear something?" The person walking towards them suddenly stopped and asked another person.

"What sound?" That person listened for a moment and said, "What sound could there be? This is the Forbidden Land; apart from us who can never get out, who else would come here? Are you out of your mind?"

The previous person listened more carefully and said, "Eh, I really did hear a sound just now? Could it be my imagination?"

"Definitely! Let’s hurry up and go, we still have to report back later! Seriously, every time we come out to search for things, it’s always the two of us. Those lichen skins are almost gone; where are we supposed to find more?"

The doubtful person put away their curiosity and said, "It probably was just me hearing things wrong! Let’s hurry and find the items; we can’t afford to waste time as we can’t compensate with our heads!"

With that, the two of them laughed and walked away. Dugu Qianye stood at the entrance, waiting until they had gone before continuing to walk down.

The tunnel was dark and oppressive; Dugu Qianye used fire attribute spiritual power to condense a lamp, then let it illuminate the way ahead while she observed the surroundings.

It seemed like someone had hastily dug this tunnel in secret; it was rough, with walls of earth that hadn’t been smoothed out. It appeared that it hadn’t been used since being dug and was very small, reflecting a sense of urgency in its creation.

Dugu Qianye walked forward through the tunnel, turning many corners, until she realized she could no longer distinguish between east, south, west, and north. She only knew to keep moving forward, unsure of what awaited her ahead.

"Squeak, squeak."

"Rustle, rustle, rustle."

Suddenly, some faint noises came from ahead. Dugu Qianye quickly extinguished the flame, plunging the tunnel back into darkness. She felt along the walls and continued forward, accidentally scraping her foot against something sharp that protruded from the wall. She felt a surge of pain, and warm liquid flowed down her shin.

"Damn it!" Dugu Qianye cursed to herself. Although she was invisible, the scent of blood could give her away, with the spiritual beasts’ keen sense of smell, they would surely detect her!

Indeed, the once faint noises abruptly intensified, and it seemed like a pack of spiritual beasts ahead had gone wild and started to roar.

Dugu Qianye cursed her own carelessness, but she kept moving forward. After turning several corners, a bright light suddenly appeared, blinding Dugu Qianye for a moment as she involuntarily closed her eyes. When she opened them, the sight before her was shocking!

"Roar—"

"Howl—"

Contrary to the narrowness of the tunnel, this place was spacious and bright. Yet even so, it felt incredibly crowded because in front of her were cages, hundreds of them, arranged in rows, each containing different kinds of spiritual beasts!

Hearing the crazed howls of the spiritual beasts, two guards entered from a large door ahead, wielding long whips. They lashed at the beasts, cursing, "Shut up! No matter how much you roar, you’re going to stay in here! Don’t think that you’re still some noble spiritual beasts; in here, you’re nothing but prisoners! Keep on growling, disturbing our sleep, and we’ll roast you for a drink!"
