"Dugu Yunheng." Although he did not know why her attitude seemed to shift a bit after hearing about the Dugu Family, he still earnestly answered her question.

Relieved to hear that the person in need of healing was not Dugu Yixuan, Dugu Qianye’s heart eased. "I really can’t refine a tenth-grade elixir now," noting the increasingly agitated Dugu Qianqian, she said to Dugu Yilan, "But we can talk further, there might be a way. However, I want to talk to you alone."

"Alright," Dugu Yilan waved his hand, signaling Dugu Qianqian and Dugu Qianqi to leave.

"What do you want to ask?"

Dugu Qianye raised her eyebrow and said, "How do you know I have something to ask?"

"You sent them away, so you must have something to ask. Go ahead," Dugu Yilan said, "As long as it’s not a secret, I should be able to answer."

"Does your family have a man named Dugu Yixuan?" Dugu Qianye cut to the chase, asking what she desperately needed to know. She had to confirm if they truly were the family her father belonged to!

Upon hearing the name Dugu Yixuan, Dugu Yilan abruptly looked up at Dugu Qianye. His usual warmth was gone, and he asked coldly, "Where did you hear the name Dugu Yixuan?"

"You don’t need to worry about that; just tell me, do you have one, or not?" Dugu Qianye demanded.

"Yes."

A surge of excitement went through Dugu Qianye, but she calmly nodded and said, "Good! I want to know what relation the Family Head you need to save has with Dugu Yixuan."

Dugu Yilan replied, "The Family Head is his grandfather."

His grandfather? That would be her great-grandfather.

"Dugu Yixuan, where is he now?" Dugu Qianye mustered the courage to ask.

Dugu Yilan looked at Dugu Qianye and said, "You seem very interested in his affairs?"

"It’s not that I’m interested, I’m just asking for someone else," Dugu Qianye shrugged.

"For whom?"

"His daughter, Dugu Qianye!"

"You actually know Dugu Qianye?!" Dugu Yilan’s expression was inscrutable as he looked at Dugu Qianye, "Do you know how she is now?"

"Do you know her?"

"Yes, our clan knows of her," Dugu Yilan said. "Can you tell me how she’s doing now?"

"Very well," said Dugu Qianye. "She’s standing right in front of you, yet sadly you have no idea. Now you still haven’t told me about Dugu Yixuan."

After a long pause, Dugu Yilan said, "I cannot tell you about his affairs."

"What if I use this as a bargaining chip?" Dugu Qianye said. "You tell me about his affairs, and I will refine a Fire Dragon Pill for you before next March."

Dugu Qianye had thought this would make the other agree, but to his surprise, he still shook his head and refused.

"Although you know Qianye, her father’s affairs are for her to know alone," Dugu Yilan said. "You may want to consider other terms."

Dugu Qianye fell silent and after a while finally spoke softly, "So, if she asks, you’ll tell her? What relation are you to him?"

"I am Dugu Yixuan’s third brother," Dugu Yilan replied.

Dugu Qianye looked at Dugu Yilan and with a thought that sprang to mind, he said with a devilish smile, "Killed her."

Dugu Qianye was flung to the ground by a surge of Dugu Yilan’s power, crashing into the place where fruit was arranged and scattering it all over.

"You dared to kill her?!" Dugu Yilan’s voice was as if from hell, "You killed her, so you’ll not live either!"

"Don’t forget that you need me to refine the Fire Dragon Pill for you," Dugu Qianye spat out a mouthful of blood and continued to say, "That Dugu Qianye was just a wastrel who couldn’t cultivate; there was no loss in killing her. If you kill me, you’ll have nothing!"

"She was my fifth brother’s only bloodline; since you’ve killed her, go down and accompany her then!"
