These days continued until the announcement from the Alchemist Guild two days before the competition.

Hao Pengyou, who had slept soundly for a month, finally got up, saying he wanted to accompany her for reconnaissance. This time, he let Dugu Qianye witness once more the extent of his talent for sleep, and she expressed deep admiration.

Him? If it really was him, she could sense that he was a formidable opponent!

When they reached the square, it was already crowded with people. They had chosen to come on the second day deliberately, to avoid the peak of the first day, yet the crowd was still immense. After much difficulty, they managed to squeeze in, with Hao Pengyou and Zi Xiao each blocking the crowd on one side to protect her.

She looked at the notices, three large sheets of paper. The first two listed the names of the contestants from the two continents, with instructions to confirm whether the details in each lineup were correct. And then there was Green Emperor Xiahou, occupying an entire sheet by himself, instantly making all contestants aware of such an arrogant individual.

"This Green Emperor Xiahou is so incredible, haha, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen someone so full of themselves. Junior brother, you might finally have a worthy opponent this time," Hao Pengyou said, rubbing his chin as he looked at the name of Green Emperor Xiahou. "But if he really is the person from the hotel next door, then I’m really looking forward to seeing his expression when he loses."

"Why?" asked Dugu Qianye.

"Those eyes were searching for someone who could defeat him," Hao Pengyou recalled the brief glimpse, "yet he believes no one can. It’s going to be quite fun if you beat him."

Green Emperor Xiahou. Dugu Qianye looked up at the name again. She was beginning to feel a sense of anticipation too.

The other notice detailed the rules of the competition, which were very similar to what Black and White Impermanence had described, only more specific, including which days were for choosing one’s own Elixir and which were for compulsory elixirs. However, it did not specify which Elixirs would be made.

Now the whole of Feisha City was bustling with excitement. Representative forces from both eastern and western continents had almost all sent observers for the competition, and the stature of these visitors within their families was not low—they held a certain authority, ready to tempt potential talents with generous offers if someone’s Alchemy-grade was high enough, even offering the position of a guest retainer.

The butler had someone clean the Transmission Array, thinking that tonight no one would come since the Alchemy contest was tomorrow; he was ready to get a good night’s sleep to watch the competition the next day. Yet, the Transmission Array lit up again.

"Someone’s coming now?" said the butler, urging the person above the Transmission Array to hurry down and not block the newcomer from entering.

Soon, five people appeared in the Transmission Array. As soon as Lao Liuzi saw them, his eyes immediately narrowed, and he slightly bowed in respect.

Soon, someone sat next to her. Turning her head, Dugu Qianye saw it was the person who stayed next door at the inn.

Green Emperor Xiahou, seeing Dugu Qianye look his way, didn’t say anything, not even sparing her an extra glance.

Shortly after, members of some major families made their entrance. The Alchemist Guild had set up special viewing platforms for them, facilitating their observation of the participants’ competition. However, because it was only the preliminaries, most of the major powers hadn’t shown up yet; those who came were mostly juniors or some less important figures. There were also some scattered forces and individuals who were purely there to watch the excitement.

The arriving spectators only filled about a third of the viewing stands, the rest remained empty.
