She crouched down, touched the flower on its head, and said, "Vine Emperor, from now on you’ll be Vine Emperor, the king among plants!"

Vine Emperor felt Dugu Qianye’s pity and blushed quietly. It had just wanted to eat them, and now she had given it a name, the warmth of her touch was so soothing when her hand was free of flames.

"I am Vine Emperor, Vine Emperor..." Vine Emperor repeated it twice, then its body slowly shrank into a thin thread that wrapped around Dugu Qianye’s right arm, the flower on top of its head settling like a tattoo on the back of her right hand.
