Chapter 285: Chapter 285: Frustrating to Death Without Compensation (2)_1

`Zi Xiao seemed contemplative as he watched Dugu Qianye for a moment, then also began to cultivate beside her.

In the following days, Di Wu Lin did not appear again, only the prison guard would come in to check on them daily. Seeing that they were still there, he would leave. Di Wu Yan took the opportunity to inquire about any deaths, only to find out that there were still none!

Seeing Di Wu Yan’s increasingly strange gaze, Dugu Qianye couldn’t help but ask Zi Xiao, "Are we Spiritual Beasts? Not considered human?"

Zi Xiao looked at Dugu Qianye’s upturned face and couldn’t help but reach out and pinch her cheek, saying, "If you say so."

Dugu Qianye slapped Zi Xiao’s hand away, saying, "I’ve been wanting to eat braised pig trotters recently. I think you’d be very willing to contribute the main ingredient."

Zi Xiao withdrew his hand, saying, "As long as you have the heart for it, why not."

Uh, Dugu Qianye felt goosebumps all over the floor.

At that moment, the prison cell door opened once more, Dugu Qianye thought it was the prison guard’s daily check, but to her surprise, the person who arrived was someone she hadn’t seen before.

Several people walked in one after another, and Dugu Qianye noticed that Di Wu Yan’s emotions stirred at the first sight of one person.

"Father," Di Wu Yan called out.

Dugu Qianye raised her eyebrow, so this was the king of the Dark Clan? She truly admired these people, each wearing identical clothes, all with veils over their faces, yet they could recognize each other so accurately!

Di Wu Changxin glanced at Dugu Qianye and Zi Xiao, then turned to look at Di Wu Yan. He said nothing, but waved his hand towards the people behind him.

"Take them away!" commanded someone behind Di Wu Yan.

The prison guard opened the prison door, and the guards walked in, ready to escort them.

Dugu Qianye and Zi Xiao stood up from the ground, dusting off their clothes indifferently. They looked less like prisoners and more like they were guests here.

Di Wu Changxin had a hint of surprise in his eyes when he saw Dugu Qianye and Zi Xiao.

"Are you taking us to the execution ground now?" Dugu Qianye asked.

"Yes! You outsiders, trying to plunge our lives into even deeper darkness, our master won’t let you off," Di Wu Changxin’s follower, Di Wu Lin, spoke up.

"Your master has already abandoned you, why not look for another path to life? Besides, it’s not like I wanted to come here in the first place!" Dugu Qianye said, they too felt unjustly treated, okay? Who would have known that being tossed into the Spirit Void Secret Realm would land them here!

"Lies! If it weren’t for your plan with Di Wu Yan to take over our entire clan, make us submit to your power, and enslave our people, why would you be here? Ordinary people have no knowledge of our existence!" Di Wu Lin stepped forward and said, then scrutinized the expression on Di Wu Changxin’s face. Seeing Di Wu Changxin frown, the corner of his mouth curled into a triumphant smile.

Dugu Qianye didn’t bother to explain further and turned to Di Wu Yan, saying, "Look, your kin and your people have abandoned you. Why not follow me? I’ll help you prove your innocence, and you recognize me as your master."

Di Wu Yan looked at the indifferent Di Wu Changxin and the eyes full of disgust behind him, saying, "Fine, as long as you can prove my innocence, I’ll recognize you as my master."

He was gambling, gambling if Dugu Qianye was the outsider mentioned in the prophecy!

"Deal!" said Dugu Qianye, then spoke to the people outside, "Aren’t you supposed to take us out? Hurry up. I haven’t taken a servant before!"

Dugu Qianye’s words infuriated everyone. Di Wu Changxin spoke, "Take them, take them all to the execution ground."

After Di Wu Changxin finished speaking, he turned and walked out, the others following.

"Take them away!" said the one who had given the order before, and the guards led Dugu Qianye and the others out of the cell.

`The Enforcement Team merely escorted Dugu Qianye and her companions out without binding them. Even the least among them was of an Advance Level Divine King; they didn’t even regard someone of Dugu Qianye’s level.

Dugu Qianye guessed they were from the Enforcement Team and, seeing their strength, she couldn’t help but sigh once more at the talent of the Dark Clan, enticing her to subjugate them. If she could have a group of assistants like them, she would be much more confident about rescuing people on the Yuling Continent!

When the Enforcement Team took them outside, the commoners wanted to throw rotten vegetable leaves at them, but beholding the chilling presence of the guard members of the Enforcement Team, everyone could only glare at Dugu Qianye and her group, trying to kill them with their gazes!

The presence of the Enforcement Team was too formidable; no one dared to act rashly.

They continued walking forward, passing through seas of people. If each person spat once, who knew if the spit could drown someone?

Di Wuyan looked at the angry crowd with pain in his eyes, which he quickly concealed.

Upon reaching the so-called Xingtai, Dugu Qianye really saw a pyre set up, with a copper pillar and wood stacked beneath it. If the fire were lit, the temperature of the copper pillar would probably make death even more agonizing.

"This punishment is good," Dugu Qianye nodded and commented in approval.

"Bind them to it," the captain of the Enforcement Team ordered.

Dugu Qianye and the other two were bound to the stakes, with someone holding a torch beside them. Just one spark, and they would be gone.

"Your Majesty, you deemed us guilty so quickly, isn’t that a bit hasty? I didn’t say I was here to see the Little Prince; I clearly came to find the Divine King." Dugu Qianye said.

"Nonsense! I don’t even know you!" Di Wulin declared.

"Are you sure you don’t know us?" Dugu Qianye inquired.

"I’m sure I don’t know you!" Di Wulin replied.

Dugu Qianye nodded and stated, "Your Majesty, you heard that clearly, right? Your Divine King doesn’t recognize us."

"So what?" For the first time, Di Wuchang spoke up.

"Your Majesty, you should give Di Wuyan a chance to defend himself, to declare before everyone if he has betrayed them or not!" Dugu Qianye suggested.

Di Wuchang’s gaze fell upon Di Wuyan as he asked, "Have you done anything to betray our Dark Clan?"

"I haven’t!" Di Wuyan asserted.

"You heard him, he said no; you, as his father, should trust him!" Dugu Qianye insisted.

Di Wulin scoffed coldly, "Just because he says no, it is no? But it was the Divine King who witnessed it personally!"

"Eyes see, but the brain must think," Dugu Qianye retorted.

"Are you saying my Divine King father is brainless?" Di Wulin challenged.

"Hmm, if this is how justice is served, then it seems about right in comparison to what you just said," Dugu Qianye quipped.

Di Wuchang’s lips twitched involuntarily. Was this an attempt to provoke him?

"You may have this opportunity," Di Wuchang consented.

"Father King," Di Wulin blurted out when he heard Di Wuchang agree to let them defend themselves. Then, recalling that even if they knew it was his doing, there was now no evidence, he calmed down and said, "Father King, you are wise. I hope brother can explain well how he colluded with outsiders to plot against us all, to slave us out to others."
