Chapter 282: Chapter 282 Awesome (4)_1

Dugu Qianye said this, and Zi Xiao no longer dwelled on the issue. After all, his sole purpose was to follow her; wherever she went, he would go.

What Dugu Qianye did not say was that whenever she looked at them, a voice inside her kept shouting to check on them, to see...

Thinking that they no longer needed to walk, the two began to cultivate inside the prison cart. In between, Dugu Qianye fed the man several elixirs, but aside from him barely hanging onto his breath, he never woke up.

Could it be that her elixirs had lost their effectiveness? Dugu Qianye knew the effects of her elixirs; they definitely could not be the problem. So, was it an issue with the man’s body?

Dugu Qianye really wanted to dissect him to see, but considering that he would probably die with another round of her meddling, she decided to give up. Then, she took out another type of elixir to try, and found it was still ineffective. After several attempts with no results, Dugu Qianye also gave up. At any rate, the man would not die in his current state.

Not knowing how many days had passed, they finally waited until the doors of the prison cart were opened.

"Get out," the soldier said.

Dugu Qianye and Zi Xiao came out and saw that they were surrounded by a crowd. Everyone here had their heads wrapped, and each person showed a look of deep hatred and disgust, as if they couldn’t wait to devour them.

"I think we might’ve come to the wrong place," Dugu Qianye said.

The aura of oppression released by these people was immense! People of intermediate Divine King level were even considered low in rank! And yet these people looked like ordinary citizens!

"Hehe," Zi Xiao chuckled, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do."

Dugu Qianye nodded. Now that was all they could do. In the worst-case scenario, they could just run into the Refining Demon Pot and come out after training into a master.

"Ladies and gentlemen, these two were caught together with the Little Prince; this is the evidence of the Little Prince’s betrayal of the City of Darkness!" the Vice Commander announced to the crowd, "It was them who wanted to push us deeper into darkness, who wanted us never to see the light!"

"Kill them, kill them!" the civilians all shouted excitedly, but none attacked them.

Dugu Qianye looked at them and couldn’t help but wonder if she had really done something to harm them, for them to be so agitated. Also, how had they become the evidence of someone’s betrayal?

"Silence!" the Vice Commander waved his hand, and the crowd quieted down. "Here, we cannot attack them, but the Enforcement Team will certainly not spare them from punishment. We have been living very difficult lives and cannot allow people to continue to oppress us! Bring them, lock them up in the prison."

The soldiers surrounding the prison cart came to escort them, and Dugu Qianye said, "We will walk, just lead the way."

Seeing Dugu Qianye and Zi Xiao so cooperative, the soldiers followed behind them. The two of them pulled the still unconscious Little Prince out of the prison cart and dragged him along.

The city’s civilians, upon seeing the Little Prince, threw whatever they had in their hands at him. Since they couldn’t attack Dugu Qianye and the others, they directed all their hatred towards the Little Prince, and items like rotten vegetable leaves and stinking Spiritual Beast eggs made the already pitiful Little Prince an even more wretched sight.

Dugu Qianye looked back at him with sympathy.

Soon, they were brought into the so-called prison. The cell was much better than she had imagined; at least it didn’t have the blackened walls or stink of criminals she had expected. It appeared relatively clean.

Dugu Qianye and Zi Xiao were locked up together, with the Little Prince in the cell next to them.

"Pay close attention this time, don’t be as careless as those people before. If he escapes again, it’ll be your hides on the line!" the prison butler warned the prison guards.

"Yes, Sir," the two guards responded.

The three looked at them once more and walked out, closing the large door behind them.

"Bang!" The door slammed shut with a deafening sound.

Dugu Qianye watched those people leave, then exchanged a glance with Zi Xiao. He had lived two lifetimes and had never been in a prison cell before—yet here he was now.

"Well, now that there’s no one here, aren’t you going to wake up?" Dugu Qianye walked over to the side of the cell and spoke to the Little Prince.

Zi Xiao found a clean spot to sit down, an air of leisure about him, not at all seeming like he was in a cell. He followed Dugu Qianye’s gaze towards the other person.

"How did you know I was awake?" The Little Prince opened his eyes and asked Dugu Qianye.

Dugu Qianye sat down by the cell and said, "When we were being paraded through the streets, I looked back to see if those people throwing rotten vegetables at you would end your life. Just then, I saw you frown. It was quick, but I caught it."

The Little Prince sat up from the ground, furrowed his brow, and inspected the things on his body. Dugu Qianye glanced at his hands and said, "You don’t have a Space Ring, do you?"

The Little Prince nodded. All his belongings had been taken away; now he had nothing on him.

"Want to wash up?" Dugu Qianye said with a smile, "I do have water, but it won’t be for free, right?"

The Little Prince looked at her, waiting for what would come next.

Seeing his expression, Dugu Qianye knew he understood what she meant and continued, "After all, we’ve been dragged into this because of you, yet we don’t even know why. Here’s the deal: I’ll give you water to clean yourself, and after you’ve finished, you’ll answer my questions."

The Little Prince looked at her and Zi Xiao, noticing Zi Xiao’s gaze stayed on her. Both of them had a finesse that was not common, not seeming like people from the same side.

"Fine." His voice was hoarse from lack of use.

Dugu Qianye stretched her hand through the bars of the cell and, with a thought, a bucket full of water appeared inside the Little Prince’s cell.

"Want me to heat it for you?" Dugu Qianye withdrew her hand and asked.

"Cough, cough." The Little Prince choked on Dugu Qianye’s words and spoke with an uneasy expression, "No need. Just turn around, that’ll do."

"No problem." Dugu Qianye turned around, only to catch Zi Xiao looking at her with a twinkle of amusement in his eyes, making her blush. Was teasing one person really such a cause for merriment?!

The Little Prince watched Dugu Qianye turn away, his hands steadying the bucket while he infused it with his Spiritual Power, quickly heating up the water.

"Come here," Zi Xiao said to Dugu Qianye.

"What is it?" Dugu Qianye walked over, and Zi Xiao produced an eye mask from somewhere.

Zi Xiao placed the eye mask on Dugu Qianye, saying, "I use it when I sleep, it’ll have to do for you now."

Dugu Qianye couldn’t help but roll her eyes and said, "Isn’t that a bit much?"

"How is it too much? What if he claims you accidentally saw him and holds you accountable? This is a serious matter," Zi Xiao said. "It’s enough for you to be responsible to just one person—me."
