Chapter 269: Chapter 269: Saved a Group of People (2)_1

Soon, that person was also drained into a mummy, and his body was thrown back, breaking into several pieces when it hit the ground, looking quite disgusting.

The shadowy figures continued to encircle them, leaving them with no way to escape to the heavens or enter the earth!

Just when everyone was in despair, a blazing flame burned up all the ghostly creatures in the sky above, revealing the surrounded crowd.

Thinking they were doomed, they had not expected to be rescued; everyone looked up and saw Xiaohuo carrying Dugu Qianye and the others as they sped over.

"It’s Miss Qianye," the people from the Alchemist Guild recognized Dugu Qianye and shouted excitedly.

Dugu Qianye looked down at the people below, and besides those from the Alchemist Guild, she didn’t recognize anyone else. But her master had some dealings with Lian Mei, so she couldn’t just abandon them. Thinking that saving one was as good as saving a group, she decided to save them all.

Dugu Qianye and Baili Ruyan exchanged a glance, then both rose and flew into the air. Dugu Qianye chose to summon the Divine-Level Fire Phantom Beast, and with a barrage of fireballs, Fire Dragon, and Huo Yu, many evil spirits were burned away.

Baili Ruyan, dressed in black, soared through the air, her black hair fluttering in the wind. She condensed bunches of black spiritual energy, forming a long whip, and with a crack of her whip, the downed evil spirits dispersed soul and spirit, without a trace left.

And when the evil spirits saw Baili Ruyan, they were so frightened they didn’t dare to move. They were just the lowest level of evil spirits, and Baili Ruyan’s aura was enough to make them kneel in worship. Among them, rank was strictly observed.

Baili Ruyan, looking down at the two people dried to death below, felt even more fiery anger. If they got out, then everyone outside would be drained by them!

"You could have lived well in that place, but you chose to come here to die," Baili Ruyan said, her whip moving even more agilely in her hand.

The people below were stunned by the actions of Dugu Qianye and Baili Ruyan. What impressive skills! Together with Xiaohuo, Dugu Qianye and the others swiftly dealt with the evil spirits, leaving the observers completely astounded and incessantly marveling.

"Miss Qianye is so amazing!"

"Miss Qianye is mighty!"

"Who is the girl with Miss Qianye? Why have we never seen her before?"

"She’s just as formidable as Miss Qianye!"

When all the evil spirits were dealt with, Dugu Qianye landed on the ground. The saved people bowed and expressed their gratitude to Dugu Qianye.

"Thank you," Lian Feng said with the others.

Dugu Qianye made a gesture of support and said, "No need to be polite, we all came in together. Now that we’ve encountered this situation, we should naturally support each other."

"Qianye, do you know what those were?" Lian Feng asked.

Dugu Qianye shook her head and said, "I don’t know either, but I’ve had a few encounters with them. I know some methods to deal with them. Just now, I saw that you summoned the Fire Phantom Beast, so you must understand something about it too."

"Bang!"

An aristocratic family disciple suddenly fell to the ground, his body turning black.

"Big brother, what’s wrong with you?" A younger person squatting next to him shook his body and called out.

"What’s wrong?"

"What happened?"

People around crowded over, Dugu Qianye and Baili Ruyan walked over and checked carefully.

"He has just been invaded by the Death Qi of an evil spirit, which is now devouring the functions of his body. Fortunately, it hasn’t been long, so I can save him," Baili Ruyan said.

Perhaps it was Baili Ruyan’s recent whip action that saved them, so everyone subconsciously trusted her. If she said there was a way, then it would be fine. Everyone stepped back, making room for her to work.

Dugu Qianye watched Baili Ruyan. Knowing her concern, Baili Ruyan smiled gently and said, "This is easy for me, and there are benefits too."

With Baili Ruyan saying that, Dugu Qianye nodded and moved aside, though not as far away as the others did.

Baili Ruyan crouched next to the man and said to the people behind her, "Those who are a bit squeamish might not want to watch."

She didn’t wait for the others’ reactions. Her right hand grasped the man’s right wrist, and her left hand pressed on his abdomen. Both spots were vital points for a Spiritual Master. The man’s younger brother beside him wanted to say something but held back. There was no other choice but to trust her now!

Baili Ruyan kept an eye on the younger brother as she proceeded with the rescue, ready to stop if he intervened. She wasn’t exactly a good Samaritan and had neither the time nor the inclination to deal with things that annoyed her. Fortunately, the younger brother’s expression changed, but he said nothing.

Baili Ruyan then began the actual rescue. She pressed strongly on the abdomen, cast a spell, then changed her grip on the wrist, making several hand gestures. She made a deep cut with her fingernails, one that surprisingly drew no blood. Finally, she pressed on the arm and gently guided something outward.

The man’s face contorted with pain, and he bit his lips until they bled, the blood coming out black.

Soon, plumes of black smoke rose from the incision on his arm, forming an ugly black shadow. It made no move before Baili Ruyan absorbed it into her body. Shortly after, the blackness on the man’s face receded, returning to its natural skin tone, though his face remained a bit pale. The blood on his lips turned red once again.

"It’s done," Baili Ruyan declared, standing up.

The younger brother rushed over, grateful to find his older brother restored and kept thanking her. Though the process was somewhat gruesome, she had saved his brother—that was undeniable.

As Baili Ruyan stood up and turned, she found everyone looking at her strangely, but she chose not to comment. With what had just transpired, it was clear she was different from them.

"How are you?" Dugu Qianye asked.

"I’m fine," Baili Ruyan responded. After a moment’s thought of their own shortcomings that had allowed the Yaksha and its horde of evil spirits to emerge, she addressed the others, "Your bodies are all tainted with some Death Qi. If you’re willing, I can help you expel it. If not, I won’t insist." If they didn’t care for their own lives, she certainly wouldn’t!

Everyone’s expression became awkward—they had watched her save them and then regarded her as an outsider, which was inappropriate.

A representative from the Alchemist Guild stepped forward first, saying, "Then please take the trouble, young lady."

Considering her extraordinary relationship with Dugu Qianye, even if not of their kind, she was clearly a formidable figure. Moreover, a closer inspection revealed that they both exuded a similar aura. They were the ones benefiting from her help.
