Chapter 203: Chapter 203: Someone Has Been Killed (1)_1
"Everyone is going?"
"Just me alone."
The elder opened his eyes, took a good look at Dugu Qianye, then closed them again.
"So young, yet so strong, you must have had some extraordinary opportunities. Passing at the Phantom Venerable Peak, barely made it," the elder remarked, "The space portal does not allow the carrying of any spatial objects, your Space Ring will be crushed in the passage. Once you arrive at another plane, you will be randomly transported to a location. Going to another dimension..."
Dugu Qianye listened carefully to the elder’s words, taking note of some of the precautions he mentioned. He hadn’t expected the old man to be so efficient in appearance, yet ramble on like an old gossip. After laboring through half an hour of prattle, the elder finally formed a seal with both hands, creating a gateway of water ripples in the Cangmang Mountain.
To Dugu Qianye’s surprise, the elder’s sealing technique was an ancient one.
"Go ahead," said the elder to Dugu Qianye.
Dugu Qianye turned around to say goodbye to Qiongli and the others. Hei Zi had insisted on going with Dugu Qianye to the point of being a nuisance, prompting Mo Zhenting to relent and let Dugu Qianye bring him along inside the Refining Demon Pot. Hence, now only Qiongli and the siblings Xie Ping and Xie Fan remained.
"Go, child," Qiongli said.
"Be careful with everything," Xie Fan said reluctantly, watching Dugu Qianye and advising him.
Dugu Qianye nodded, then turned and stepped through the gateway of water ripples, vanishing from everyone’s sight in an instant.
"Oh no, we’re a step too late," sighed Qie Yue’s voice, suddenly resounding. As Qiongli and the others looked, they saw Zi Xiao, Hei Zi, and Qie Yue rushing towards them.
"What do we do now?"
"What else can we do, follow them!" Zi Xiao said, pulling the two into the gateway just before it vanished.
Dugu Qianye thought stepping through the water ripple gateway would take him straight to another realm, but no sooner had he stepped halfway through than he felt a force sucking him in. Once inside, raging winds enveloped him, making it impossible to open his eyes, and the oppressive force of the space made it hard to breathe. Dugu Qianye felt like everything in his stomach wanted to come out. Floating around him were fragments of Space Rings and an assortment of other items that had been scattered.
"Space Rings really can’t come along," Dugu Qianye mused to himself.
It made sense, after all. Space Rings were created by Artifact Refiners using the properties of ores and other materials to craft an independent space, so going through a dimensional gateway, where the spatial compression was immense, would naturally cause these self-contained spaces to collapse. Fortunately, before entering, she had moved all her Space Rings and the Phantom Ring to the Refining Demon Pot. Otherwise, even if she made it to another world, she’d be penniless. Just looking at the many valuable things swiftly passing by was a testament to how many had suffered this loss before.
Time was hard to gauge, but the dark passage seemed to be nearing its end, with some white light appearing in the distance. Sensing the brightness, Dugu Qianye slightly opened her eyelids and saw she was indeed approaching the end.
She had assumed the exit would be like a gateway of water ripples, just like the entrance that would lead to solid ground. However, Dugu Qianye had overlooked the old guardian’s warning that the teleportation location was not fixed. As she prepared to adjust her body, ready to step out, a sudden push from behind made her involuntarily plunge forward.
Dugu Qianye found herself tragically thrown tens of thousands of meters into the air; unable to adapt from the squeezed space, she couldn’t perform flight through empty space or summon her Phantom Beast, and could only watch helplessly as she got closer and closer to the ground.
"Damn it all!" Dugu Qianye couldn’t help but curse angrily, choosing to close her eyes rather than look down. Being in the pitch-dark passage was too much, and her eyes still struggled to adjust to the sunlight.
Because she was blindsided, she failed to notice that right below her, two groups of people were arguing about something.
"Jin Gold Digger, stop being shameless!" Huo Yi looked furiously at the person across him and scolded. However, he was helpless to do anything because his level was not as high as his opponent’s, and his side had neither the numbers nor the strength. He could only watch as Jin Gold Digger came to steal the Spirit Grass he had found.
"How am I being shameless? The Spirit Grass is still on the opposite mountain; it hasn’t even entered your pocket, Huo Yi. It’s ownerless. Since it’s ownerless, it all comes down to ability. How about our families settle this with a duel right now? Whoever wins gets the Vermilion Immortal Grass; what do you say?" Jin Gold Digger said shamelessly, looking at Huo Yi.
"We discovered the Vermilion Immortal Grass first! You very well know my Huo Family is in urgent need of it, and yet, being stronger than me, you make such a proposal—truly a model of shamelessness!" Huo Yi cursed in a rage.
"Am I shameless?" Jin Gold Digger turned and asked, "I am shameless, right?"
"Third Young Master, when have you ever been shameless? Clearly, we discovered the Vermilion Immortal Grass first, and the Huo Family wants to cut in line—that’s the real shamelessness!"
"The Third Young Master is the most pure and noble among us; how could he be shameless? This is the Huo Family slandering our Jin Family!"
The people behind Jin Gold Digger took turns speaking, blatantly distorting the facts.
Jin Gold Digger, looking at Huo Yi with a smug smile, said, "See, even they know I’m pure!"
"Pfft! That’s because all of you are a bunch of shameless people! And you, Jin Gold Digger, are beyond shameless! Everyone on the Spirit Void Continent knows of your notorious shamelessness! Even three-year-old children know you never do any good and are always causing trouble! I heard the last time you went to court the Miss of the Shui Family, you got slapped away—did that really happen?" Huo Yi couldn’t help but laugh in anger, thinking that with Jin Gold Digger here today, he wouldn’t be able to get the Vermilion Immortal Grass, and might as well hit Jin Gold Digger where it hurt.
The smile vanished from Jin Gold Digger’s face in an instant, turning gloomy. Whoever he fancied was their honor. To his disbelief, his advances were repeatedly repelled, and the last time he went to propose, he was slapped out of the Shui Family’s door in front of everyone. He had been a genius of the Jin Family since childhood, coddled and spoiled. Accustomed to being willful outside, he had never been treated like this. Unfortunately, the Shui Family treasured their only legitimate heir, and not only did they not blame her, they warned him that another visit would cost him his life! Although he was talented, his status was not as high as that ’cheap person’ from the Shui Family, and his family would not turn against them for his sake. The Family Head scolded him and even deprived him of a year’s worth of cultivation resources, which is why he now had to help himself by finding Spirit Grass for his cultivation!
Now that Huo Yi ridiculed him with this matter, it was like a kick on his sore spot, and his good mood from finding the Vermilion Immortal Grass and dealing a blow to the Huo Family instantly vanished, fuelling his rage.
"You’re asking for death!"
Jin Gold Digger glared at Huo Yi; with just a raise of his hand, he gathered a spiritual power attack and launched it at Huo Yi. Seeing the attack coming, Huo Yi shouted to the people behind him, "Retreat!" and then met the attack with his own spiritual power.
"Boom!"
The collision of spiritual powers was ear-splitting. Even those who had stepped back felt the fierce impact force, with some even retreating two steps.
