Chapter 175: Chapter 175: The Auspicious Beast Chen Gou (4)_1
"Plop——"
Water splashed up, wetting the stones on the shore, and then Dugu Qianye and Little Baiqiu disappeared from where Hantan was.
Dugu Qianye felt large gulps of water pouring into her orifices, the icy waters of Hantan making her feel as though she was plunging into an ice cellar.
Just when she thought she was about to drown, a bubble formed around her, enveloping her and Little Baiqiu within, sparing her from a watery grave.
"What’s this?" Dugu Qianye reacted, poking at the thin membrane with her finger.
The bubble carried her in the direction of the water flow towards the depths of Hantan, and close to the bottom of the pool there was a hole that the water, despite having no obstructions, simply refused to enter.
Wrapped in the bubble amidst the water, she was carried towards that hole and, with a final nudge, Dugu Qianye and Little Baiqiu were thrown into it. Fortunately, Dugu Qianye managed to adjust her position as she fell, landing on one foot first to avoid ending up sprawled on her back.
"Keke, it’s so scary here!" Even though the force just now was so strong, it didn’t throw Little Baiqiu out. It’s a wonder where its little claws got such strength from.
Dugu Qianye got up, peering into the pitch-black surroundings. Just as she was about to create some flames, she heard an ancient voice.
"Child, you’ve finally arrived."
"Eh? Keke, it’s the voice that was calling me just now." Little Baiqiu poked its head out and looked around.
A silvery white light spread out from the opposite side, dispelling all darkness.
"Wow, it’s so warm." When the silver light touched Little Baiqiu, it felt as though it was basking in the sun.
Dugu Qianye, unlike Little Baiqiu, did not feel the warmth of the silver light but stood on high alert as she watched a colossal creature appear before her. It was a Phantom Beast she had never seen before, as large as a mid-sized hillside, covered in silver-white fur, its head resembling that of a polar bear, but with a pair of sharp, long fangs. The silver light was emanating from it.
The creature looked at Dugu Qianye and said, "Girl, no need to be nervous, I bear no ill will."
"Humph, summoning us here like this and claiming no ill will, I’m not so sure about that," Dugu Qianye said.
"Sigh, having them surround the island and then bringing you over, I did it out of necessity." The creature let out a sigh, "I can’t leave this place, so I had to resort to this method. Rest assured, your companions are all doing fine."
Having said that, an image appeared in front of Dugu Qianye, showing the figures of Mo Zhenting and others wandering through the woods.
Seeing Mo Zhenting and the others unharmed eased some of Dugu Qianye’s worries. She looked at the creature and asked, "Why have you brought us here?"
"My name is La Yun, and I am the ancient Divine Beast Hook Chen. I have brought you here today because I need to ask for your help," La Yun said.
Hook Chen, an ancient auspicious beast.
"You need my help?"
"Yes," La Yun slowly began, "I was once a Contract Beast under the command of the Creator God’s Dou Kou, belonging to Rong Xiu’s side. A million years ago, during the great battle, I got separated from my master, and after our defeat, I was suppressed here, with my master’s whereabouts unknown. But I know he’s still alive."
"So, do you want us to find your master for you?" Little Baiqiu propped its head up and asked.
"Not exactly. I didn’t summon you here today to find my master for me," La Yun said, "A million years of suppression has sapped much of my energy, and because of the Suppression Rune, the spiritual power I’ve lost cannot be restored. I’m already close to my limit. I can’t die before seeing my master again. I hope that you can help me."
"But you’re an ancient divine beast; others are not. How can they possibly help you?" Little Baiqiu asked.
"You can. You’re not just any Phantom Beast; even I must look up to your status," La Yun said, "It’s just that your bloodline is still in a dormant phase. Once your bloodline awakens, all the auspicious beasts in the world will bow down to you."
"Am I really that powerful?" Little Baiqiu asked incredulously. "But I can’t do anything. I can’t help you."
"You can..."
"Wait a minute." Dugu Qianye interrupted La Yun, "You say help just like that!"
"Hehe, what does the little girl want?" La Yun asked, looking at Dugu Qianye.
"Um." Dugu Qianye, slightly embarrassed by La Yun’s affectionate gaze, thought for a moment and asked, "Do you know what Qiuqiu’s identity is? What is it?"
"The leader of the auspicious beasts, the Divine Roar."
What?! Dugu Qianye picked up Little Baiqiu and examined it, but all she could see was a gluttonous Little Baiqiu?!
"How can its bloodline power be stimulated?" Dugu Qianye asked.
"I can tell you how, but its body simply can’t withstand it right now, so stimulating it now would be harmful rather than beneficial," La Yun said. "Instead of forcibly triggering it from the outside, it’s better to wait for it to grow on its own."
"Um." Dugu Qianye nodded in understanding; she knew the principle of not rushing things.
"Then, if it helps you, will it be harmful to it?" Dugu Qianye finally asked.
"No," La Yun said. "It just needs to release a bit of Auspicious Qi to me."
Dugu Qianye looked at Little Baiqiu blinking its big eyes and said, "In that case, please help."
Little Baiqiu was placed on the ground by Dugu Qianye and scampered over to La Yun. However, when compared to La Yun, its tiny body was even more exaggerated than an ant to an elephant.
"What do I need to do?" Little Baiqiu asked.
"You just need to close your eyes and think of something beautiful," La Yun said.
"Alright then. Keke makes delicious food, so I’ll think of Keke making me something to eat," Little Baiqiu said earnestly. However, these words instantly left Dugu Qianye speechless.
With its eyes closed, Little Baiqiu began to meditate. Dugu Qianye noticed that colorful light spots began to emanate from its body, somewhat similar to those during the contract making. Seeing those colorful dots, La Yun’s eyes flashed with excitement, and he too closed his eyes to meditate.
The little colorful light spots swirled in the air before flying into La Yun’s body and disappearing. This repeated, and Dugu Qianye observed La Yun’s life force growing. If La Yun was an old man before, now he seemed like a middle-aged man.
"Awoo—" Little Baiqiu suddenly let out a cry, then opened its eyes. Seeing that La Yun looked better than before, it happily said, "La Yun, you look more spirited than before! But I can’t think of anything more; I can’t help you anymore."
"This is already very good. I can hold on for much longer now. Thank you," La Yun said.
"Keke, can we destroy that Suppression Talisman for La Yun? It’s making him so uncomfortable," Little Baiqiu said as it returned to Dugu Qianye’s side.
Dugu Qianye looked at the stone on La Yun, which indeed had complex Runes drawn on it. She wondered if her current power was enough to break it.
