After Lan Mei left, Dugu Qianye took off her long robe, removed her mask, then met up with Cang Jin and returned to Yingke Courtyard together. By this time, it was almost daybreak. They both entered through the courtyard wall of Cang Jin’s house, and as Cang Jin went into his house, he said, "I was asleep all night and never left my room."

Dugu Qianye paused for a moment, then returned to her own room. Shortly thereafter, Lan Mei came back with a message from Fen Jian, saying he would find a home for the two children. Then, Dugu Qianye went to the Refining Demon Pot to tell Mo Chi and the others that she had not found her grandfather at the Thunder Temple.

When she entered, she did not see Jiang Yu, so she asked Dudu, who led her to the mountain peak where that egg was. Jiang Yu was there, staring blankly at the egg.

"What are you doing here?" Dugu Qianye approached and placed her right hand on the eggshell, channeling Dandan’s Chaotic Power into the egg. She noticed that the strange egg flashed a faint glimmer of light this time.

Watching Dugu Qianye infuse Chaotic Power into the strange egg, Jiang Yu asked, "Is he also your Contract Beast?"

Dugu Qianye patted the strange egg and said, "Yes!"

"How did you form a contract?" Jiang Yu inquired.

"He contracted me. Do you know what type of Phantom Beast this is?" Dugu Qianye was a bit frustrated; she had been contracted and still had no idea what species her Contract Beast was. Was there a more hapless Pledged Master than her?!

Jiang Yu moved his mouth but remained silent. He then shifted the topic, "Is this the legendary Refining Demon Pot?"

Seeing that Jiang Yu was not forthcoming, Dugu Qianye did not press him. If he wouldn’t tell her, why should she insist? She would naturally find out when the time came.

"How do you know about the Refining Demon Pot?"

"I’ve heard of it. I know that the Creator God sealed the ten Divine Artifacts into the body of the Chaos Heavenly Bead, and now you have half of the Heavenly Bead with you. A space capable of containing life, other than the Refining Demon Pot, doesn’t come to mind."

"Uh, okay. Are you staying here or going back?" Dugu Qianye asked Jiang Yu.

"Of course, I am going back. As nice as it is here, it is not as comfortable as being in my true form," Jiang Yu said, and then returned to Dugu Qianye’s earring.

Dugu Qianye emerged and after a period of meditation and rest, dawn broke. As she had said she would rest today, Dugu Qianye stayed inside her room without going out, yet she took the time in the morning to tell Xie Ping about what she had witnessed the previous night.

"There is no sign of Thunder Temple. I visited both Wind Temple and Fire Temple last night, and found nothing," Xie Ping said, after listening to Dugu Qianye’s account, "I’ve also sensed Rain Hall, and there is no place there where one could detain people."

"Then this could be considered good news, as it at least confirms that they are not in the hands of the Divine Temple," Dugu Qianye said.

"If they’re not in the hands of the Divine Temple, then where could they be?" Xie Ping asked, rocking in his rocking chair.

"Perhaps, we could search the surrounding islands. Maybe they are hidden there," Dugu Qianye suggested, "Could it be that they’re not in the Phantom Sea, and we’ve been looking in the wrong direction?"

"We are capable of killing, but finding people is not our forte."

"The General Pavilion of the Secret Pavilion has been searching for several years and hasn’t found them yet. What do you think they would do if they knew their adversary was right under their noses?"
