Chapter 130: Chapter 130 Phantom Realm (2)_1
Due to the high tension throughout the day, the Divine Temple distributed a Nurturing Spirit Pill to everyone in the evening, instructing them to take it and rest early. Dugu Qianye smelled the fragrance of Light Star Grass on the elixir and chose not to consume it, instead sitting cross-legged on the bed to cultivate.
"Sister, Sister," a crisp voice rang beside her ear.
Dugu Qianye felt the voice was somewhat familiar but couldn’t recall where she had heard it.
"Sister, Sister, wake up. Mom and Dad promised to take us to the mountain to play today." Seeing that Dugu Qianye did not respond, the voice rang out again, determined not to give up until she awoke.
Unable to bear it any longer, Dugu Qianye finally opened her eyes, and what met her gaze was a seven- or eight-year-old girl with two ponytails, a delicate little face, and big eyes glittering as they gazed at her.
"Sister, you’re awake, hurry up. Mom and Dad are all ready, we’re just waiting for you," the little girl said anxiously upon seeing Dugu Qianye awaken.
Dugu Qianye felt dizzy from being disturbed and wanted to rub her head, but she found that her hand had shrunk to the size of a child’s. Startled, she felt her sleepiness fade away significantly, and as she looked up again at the little girl standing beside her bed, she was shocked and immediately jumped down.
"Li... Little Lan?"
"Sister, you really can sleep, I called you for so long. Hurry up, or it’ll be too late to go up the mountain. I’m going to find Mom and Dad!" The little girl said, bouncing out of the room.
It was not until Dugu Qianlan left the room that Dugu Qianye came back to her senses from the shock. She looked at her smaller stature and then at the familiar room—it was her room from her past life! Had she traveled back again?
What was going on? Wasn’t she on her way to the Divine Temple by sea? How had she returned?
"Sister, what are you doing there? Come over here! There are so many beautiful flowers, let’s go pick them." Little Dugu Qianlan said as she ran over to pull her.
Dugu Qianye looked up and realized she was no longer in the room. Before her eyes was the running figure of little Qianlan and their parents laying out food ahead.
"Dad? Mom?" Dugu Qianye gazed blankly at her busy parents up front, their familiar and warm smiles, her mother’s affectionate gaze upon her, and tears slowly trailed down her small cheeks unawares.
Her longing was so great that she didn’t even notice a wild wolf appearing behind her.
"Ah, Sister, be careful." Little Qianlan suddenly screamed, drawing the attention of their parents.
"Qianye, run!" Her mother cried out in fear.
But she just stood there, staring blankly at her parents ahead.
"Ah—"
Dugu Qianye felt a push and fell to the side. On getting up, she saw little Qianlan had fallen to the ground with a long gash bitten into her arm. Her father had teleported over in an instant and killed the wild wolf with a palm strike, then picked up little Qianlan from the ground.
"How is it? Is it severe?" Her mother also ran over, hugging Dugu Qianye and checking her over for injuries before sighing in relief upon seeing she was unhurt.
"Lan’er is hurt; we need to hurry back for treatment," her father said, then carried a child in each arm and flew back to find the family physician to treat little Qianlan.
Dugu Qianye nestled in her mother’s arms, inhaling the familiar scent. She remembered now—this was when she was nine, the incident when little Qianlan was injured for her sake. Back then, she had resolved to cultivate diligently to protect her sister, to provide her with a comfortable and peaceful life.
Every day, life continued to unfold, as little Qianlan’s injury healed, she resumed her cultivation, and everyone slowly grew up together. All of this truly made Dugu Qianye believe she had returned to her previous life. She tried to call out to Xiaohuo and the others, but it was to no avail. Sometimes, she thought about killing little Qianlan to prevent the subsequent tragedy, but she gave up due to some reasons. Later, she also understood that her actions were no longer under the control of her own thoughts, no matter what she wanted, some things still could not be changed.
"Qianye, let’s go," said Baili Ruyan, dressed in a black tight-fitting outfit, as she came to Dugu Qianye’s room, "After we complete this mission, we’ll be able to rest for a while. You’ll have more time to spend with your parents and Qianlan."
Dugu Qianye looked at Baili Ruyan for a long time before finally smiling and saying, "Alright. Let’s set off."
When Dugu Qianye arrived at the gate, she stopped, turned around, and looked at the majestic gateway with a complicated glint in her eyes. It was this mission where she and Ruyan nearly lost their lives. It was also after this mission that the once happy home underwent earth-shattering changes, and she and Ruyan both perished.
"Let’s go," Dugu Qianye said to Baili Ruyan.
"Qianye."
Just when they were about to leave, their mother came to the door and called her.
"Mother," Dugu Qianye ran over and hugged her mother tightly, unable to stop the tears from flowing down her face.
The mother, smiling, patted Qianye’s back and said, "This mission is quite dangerous, you need to be careful. Come back early."
"I know," Dugu Qianye released her mother and looked straight into her face, as if to etch her features into her heart. It wasn’t until Baili Ruyan urged her several times that she finally turned and left.
After two months, Dugu Qianye and Baili Ruyan completed the mission with great difficulty and took some time to recover from their injuries. By the time they returned, several months had already passed.
"Sister, Sister Ruyan, you’re back!" Dugu Qianlan came down from upstairs and said, "You were gone for such a long time, I missed you to death. Take me with you next time. Although I’m not highly skilled in martial arts, I won’t hold you back."
As she spoke, Dugu Qianlan poured a cup of tea for both of them and set it in front of them.
"Sister, drink some tea."
Dugu Qianye picked up the teacup, brought it to her lips, but put it down again before drinking and asked, "Why haven’t I seen dad and mom?"
Seeing Dugu Qianye put down her cup, a hint of disappointment flashed in Dugu Qianlan’s eyes. She quickly smiled and said as Dugu Qianye looked at her, "They’ve gone to the Great Elder’s place."
"Is that so?" Dugu Qianye said quietly. As she saw Baili Ruyan about to drink the tea, she reached out and knocked over the teacup.
"Sister, why did you do that?" Dugu Qianlan was startled by Dugu Qianye’s action.
Dugu Qianye, however, paid no attention and said to Dugu Qianlan, "Take me outside."
"What are you talking about, Sister?" Dugu Qianlan asked Dugu Qianye, puzzled.
Dugu Qianye looked at Dugu Qianlan and said, "I know this is fake. Take me outside now."
"Hehe, you figured it out, huh? It seems you’re not so foolish after all!" The Dugu Qianlan opposite her suddenly laughed scornfully, "Welcome to the Phantom Realm Heart."
With a wave of her hand, the Dugu Qianlan across from her made Baili Ruyan disappear.
