Chapter 82 - 82 81 The Ability to Change the Battlefield Situation

82: Chapter 81: The Ability to Change the Battlefield Situation 82: Chapter 81: The Ability to Change the Battlefield Situation “Charge!”

After five simultaneous gunshots rang out, Green Mamba didn’t bother with the results and immediately ordered a charge.

He had to close the distance between him and the building as much as possible before the opposition inside had a chance to react and take better cover for their return fire.

Gao Yang’s bullet hit the target, but he couldn’t see clearly where it struck, and he didn’t observe anyone replacing the machine gunner he had killed in his scope.

As Gao Yang focused intently, ready for someone to open fire again, he was startled by Cui Bo’s excited cry close by, “I hit him!”

Startled by Cui Bo, Gao Yang turned and hissed, “Shut up!”

The excited Cui Bo stuck out his tongue and quickly returned his attention to the scope.

At that moment, a sniper from Coleman Company fired another shot, but despite two shots, the window he was responsible for did not cease firing.

Just then, Glolov’s machine gun opened fire, and several machine guns from the Sandstorm Mercenary Corps fired almost simultaneously.

Their goal was to provide fire suppression for the Coleman mercenaries.

Hearing the gunfire close to his ears and seeing the pockmarks from bullets rapidly increasing on the exterior wall of the building, Gao Yang felt relieved.

These hastily gathered comrades were reliable, with both timing and marksmanship being decent.

But the firing point the sniper failed to neutralize paused only briefly and then resumed shooting under the focused attention of at least three machine guns.

It seemed to be an M2 heavy machine gun, the most threatening weapon in the entire building.

The Coleman people rushed against the building’s wall, and although the M2 machine gun inside had a limited firing range, three Coleman mercenaries were still mowed down.

The Coleman forces had advanced less than thirty meters when they were caught in a dire situation.

But then, Gao’s M1A fired again, and the M2 immediately fell silent.

Gao had initially only been responsible for the firing point at the window from which he first fired.

But seeing the Coleman sniper’s mistake, he quickly aimed at the position of the M2 heavy machine gun.

The Coleman sniper had made an error because the M2 gunner was hiding behind a fortification made of sandbags, exposing only a tiny gap, and the body of the machine gun made the shot much more difficult.

When Gao swung his rifle toward that position, he took advantage of the moment when the M2 gunner exposed his chest to rotate the weapon and decisively fired.

His bullet accurately hit the M2 gunner’s neck.

After taking down the M2 gunner, Gao yelled, “Change targets, I’ll take care of the M2.”

The sniper originally responsible for the M2 quickly redirected his scope to the window Gao was previously in charge of and, without turning his head, yelled back, “Thanks!”

That sniper was actually the best in the Coleman Company.

Green Mamba had entrusted him with the most important target out of trust for his own men.

However, due to a combination of skill, luck, and the weapon, the sniper had not completed the mission and had caused three of his comrades to fall.

Being hit by an M2 heavy machine gun, unless it’s in an arm or a leg or something like that, there’s no need to think about injuries—just collecting the body would suffice.

Anything can happen on the battlefield; no one can guarantee that their bullet will definitely hit the target, so no one would blame the sniper.

But witnessing one’s comrade killed by a target one was supposed to deal with—feeling that isn’t pleasant.

Therefore, after Gao Yang took out the M2 gunner, that sniper from Coleman’s company was extremely grateful to Gao Yang.

Gao Yang aimed at the opening between the sandbags.

Anyone daring to appear there, attempting to operate that M2 heavy machine gun, he would immediately open fire.

And his enemy did not make him wait long; mere seconds later, another person appeared behind the gun.

As that person tried to drag away the body blocking the firing position, Gao Yang’s bullet pierced his head.

The gap between the sandbags was small, so Gao Yang could only target the heads of those appearing behind it, but the high precision of his M1A rifle proved its value at that moment.

Gao Yang was confident that as long as he aimed accurately, the gun in his hand would deliver the bullets precisely where they needed to go.

Apart from the position with the M2 heavy machine gun, all other firing points had been suppressed.

No one could shoot without exposing themselves; dozens of guns firing simultaneously created a blockade that wasn’t easy to break through.

Even if someone changed their firing position, they could at best fire one or two shots before a rain of bullets would pummel them, with Glolov always quick to press back any enemy counterattacks.

The focus was now on the firing point Gao Yang was responsible for.

Hidden behind cover that could resist most suppressive fire, only Gao Yang posed a significant threat to the M2 gunner.

The third and fourth individuals who attempted to operate the M2 were killed the moment they were spotted.

Gao Yang performed his duty perfectly, and once he had completely silenced the M2, Coleman’s men advanced smoothly towards the building.

Upon reaching the entrance to the building, the defenders’ firing points inside almost lost their effectiveness.

It was then that Gao Yang finally spared a moment to glance at Coleman’s men’s progress.

He had done his best, and what remained was the close-quarters battle between Coleman’s men and the defenders inside the building.

The leading elements of Coleman’s company threw at least a dozen grenades through the first floor’s doorway, then immediately, seven or eight men dashed into the building.

After a brief and intense exchange of fire, the rest entered the building.

Gao Yang could no longer see the situation inside the building, so he refocused his attention on the position of the M2 heavy machine gun, but no one appeared again.

After waiting for about fifteen minutes, the two-way radio on the frequency they shared with Gao Yang’s team crackled to life.

“The building has been cleared, you can come in now.”

After Green Mamba finished speaking, there was a brief pause before his voice was heard again over the radio.

“Ram, thank you.”

Green Mamba and the sniper he left behind must maintain contact.

Seeing the sniper still speaking into the radio, and looking at him with an expression of gratitude, Gao Yang first nodded to the sniper, then responded into the radio: “No need to be polite, it’s what I should do.”

Gao Yang and his three companions followed the Sandstorm Mercenary Corps into the building.

Coleman’s company had already set up firing points inside, and now it was their turn to hold this building as a base and prepare to cover the Sandstorm Mercenary Corps’ assault.
