Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 103 - 103 102 List
103: Chapter 102 List 103: Chapter 102 List Gao Yang wasn’t the type to choose money over life, nor was he one to recklessly spend on prostitutes and gambling just because he had a little money.
His philosophy was to use the best if it was affordable, without ever settling for less—whether it was his life or the lives of his brothers that were at stake, they were more important than anything else.
As long as he was the leader of the Satan Mercenary Corps, this rule was absolutely unchangeable.
Of course, some top-tier military gear was still exclusively in the hands of the elite forces of a few military powerhouses.
These highly classified items were not available for mercenaries to purchase, and Gao Yang didn’t even expect to get his hands on them.
It wasn’t a matter of willingness to spend the money.
After organizing and summarizing his own gear, it didn’t take long for the other three to arrive one after another at his room, each carrying a list.
Glolov’s list was the shortest, including only a few items, while Cui Bo’s list was the longest, nearly filled a whole sheet of paper with bits and pieces.
Gao Yang glanced at Glolov’s list without saying anything, setting it aside.
Then he picked up Li Jinfang’s list and said, “Jinfang, you plan to switch to a smaller caliber rifle?
But you haven’t written what you want to switch to.”
Li Jinfang nodded, “The recoil of the AK47 is too strong, and I also found that 5.56mm bullets were quite easy to find in Misrata, so I wanted to change guns.
However, I’m not familiar with foreign small-caliber rifles.
I tried the FAMAS, but it jammed after firing just two magazines.
The AUG is alright, but it’s still not very comfortable to use.
Mainly, I don’t like bullpup rifles.”
Gao Yang nodded and said, “All of the small calibers we have on hand, you’ve turned down.
You’re not familiar with foreign guns.
If you want a rifle with a buttstock, how about using an M4?
Or I can get you a Type 97?
You’d at least be familiar with it, and Uriyangko should be able to find one.”
Li Jinfang nodded, “Let’s go with the Type 97.
After all, I’m used to the Type 95.
If I try the Type 97 and it doesn’t fit me, I’ll just switch back to the AK.
I won’t change my pistol, the M92 suits me well.”
After solving Li Jinfang’s problem, Gao Yang turned to Glolov and said, “Your demands are too simple, aren’t they?
A thousand rounds of Russian bullets, a bulletproof vest, and that’s it?
Are you still planning to hit the battlefield in those worn-out boots and some ragged Russian camo?”
Glolov laughed, “I got used to being frugal when I was a free mercenary, and I didn’t think about changing.
Actually, I’m not very demanding when it comes to equipment.”
Gao Yang shook his head, “That’s not acceptable.
No matter the cost, as long as we can afford it, we must use the best.
Forget it, you don’t need to worry about it.
I’ll consolidate the accessories we need and hand the list to Uriyangko for purchasing.
Since you all don’t have any specific requirements, I’ll buy them based on what I think is best.
That’s decided then.”
Cui Bo anxiously said, “Brother Yang, look at my list, could you?
Are all of my items available for purchase?”
Gao Yang slapped Cui Bo’s list on the bed, angrily saying, “Are you really that daft?
Look at what you’re asking for, a Steyr HS50 sniper rifle.
Sure, it’s accurate, but it’s single-shot, manually loaded.
Do you think you have a whole armed force covering you?
With such a slow rate of fire, do you want to get us killed when we need support?
Also, look at the stuff you’re asking for: a Marathon military watch, 3D pack, 1D pack, Black Hawk rappelling belt, Safariland quick-draw holster.
Damn it, I might have let that go, but even the brands and models of your glasses, boots, and clothes, I could still bear.
But you even dared to specify the colors.
Why don’t you also write down which brand of underwear you want?”
Cui Bo said timidly, “I wrote it, didn’t you see?
I want Arc’teryx underwear, and for socks, any brand is fine as long as they’re made of merino wool.
Please help me out, Brother Yang, I’ve calculated it, and I have just enough money for these items.”
Gao Yang was completely exasperated and said mournfully, “Do you really think Uriyangko is your personal butler?
You can find all this miscellaneous stuff in Johannesburg’s malls.
Don’t buy from arms dealers, get lost!”
After sending Cui Bo away, Gao Yang reluctantly wrote up a list according to his own wishes.
As for the list that Cui Bo handed over, Gao Yang tore it up directly.
The stuff Cui Bo chose wasn’t bad, including many good brands and items – things that Gao Yang had taught Cui Bo about during their outdoor adventures.
Gao Yang wasn’t at the point where he had to include everything from head to toe, inside and out, even underwear and socks on the shopping list for Uriyangko, an arms dealer.
Even if Gao Yang was shameless enough to give the list to Uriyangko, Uriyangko would probably stick it on his face.
One Huaxia-made Type 97 rifle, one AS50 sniper rifle or Barrett M82A1 sniper rifle, with fifty armor-piercing bullets and one hundred regular bullets, three hundred high-precision 7.62 mm sniper rounds, four bulletproof vests left as samples, four pairs of Oakley bulletproof glasses, four Kevlar helmets, three Mystery Ranch 3D backpacks, one 60-liter backpack, four sets of American CP Company all-terrain camo, and four pairs of Danner military boots.
The above was the list that Gao Yang planned to send to Uriyangko.
There were many other items that Uriyangko always had in stock and didn’t need to be specially prepared.
The list only included items that needed to be prepared in advance.
After careful consideration, Gao Yang added one more item to the list – two Steiner 8×30 binoculars.
Both Gao Yang and Cui Bo frequently used binoculars on the battlefield, often sharing one pair between the two of them.
Now, the binoculars Gao Yang had were antiques left to him by Fedor, so he thought it better to keep them as collectibles and buy two new pairs instead.
After making the list, Gao Yang estimated the costs in his mind.
He thought that buying everything might take a hundred thousand US dollars, or even more, because just one 12.7 mm caliber sniper rifle with bullets might cost a hundred thousand US dollars.
Gao Yang wasn’t sure about the prices of large-caliber sniper rifles; he only knew that a Barrett M82A1 cost at least several thousand US dollars, and the bullets were expensive too – regular bullets cost over ten dollars each, and armor-piercing bullets could cost over a hundred dollars.
As for the AS50 and its ammunition, they might be even more expensive than the Barrett.
The large-caliber sniper rifles were so expensive that all the other items were just minor additions by comparison.
However, he wouldn’t know the actual prices until he asked Uriyangko.
Perhaps if Uriyangko sold them at cost, the prices would be lower than Gao Yang had guessed.
Gao Yang felt their team really needed a high-caliber sniper rifle capable of engaging both material and personnel.
Even though they were expensive, it was better than being in need and not having one.
Although Gao Yang was unsure whether Cui Bo could handle a large-caliber sniper rifle, and he didn’t know if he himself could use it well, he felt that if they never had one, they would never understand what a large-caliber sniper rifle was all about.
So, biting the bullet, he decided that even if they had to pool their funds, they should purchase it.
Currently, the Satan Mercenary Corps had thirty-four thousand US dollars in communal assets, which was definitely not enough for equipment purchases, but Gao Yang also had over ninety thousand US dollars, and each of the other three had over sixty thousand.
If they were to pool their money, they wouldn’t even need Glolov to chip in and could easily buy everything.
