Chapter 67: 67. The Appontments 2
"Do you know what the trigger for your trauma is?" Dr Anders asked. He had a notepad in his hand as he scribbled away only looking at her when he was asking her questions or when she gave answers. "And when did you notice this problem?"
Sara was silent for a few seconds but she braced herself, taking a deep breath before she replied. "It started eleven years ago."
At her reply, Dr Anders’ hand paused as he raised his head to meet her gaze. There was no change to his expression which made it hard for her to read him. "Can you tell me what happened?" he inquired.
Sara put the inside of her lip to prevent quivering. Her hands that were placed on her laps clenched ever so lightly but the little actions didn’t escape the keen eyes of the doctor.
"Is it something you do not wish to talk about?" He asks, his tone becoming softer now that he could struggle. Sara did not reyes and he adjusted his pecs, putting his pen down focused solely on her. "I have to tell you that the first step to overcome a problem is by talking about it. A trauma is no different."
Sara took a deep breath trying to force back the memories flooding in. It was only one scene that was just playing in her head and no matter how hard she tried to push it away, it was there, stuck as if it were a video on loop.
"Mrs Legend," Dr Anders called.
Her eyes snapped open as she looked at him. The name, though odd, didn’t sound that bad.
"Take a deep breath and calm down. We will take it one step at a time. I can wait until you are ready," he said and she started taking deep breaths. "That’s more like it. Whenever you are ready, you can tell me."
After a couple of deep breaths Sara opened hermiuth and said, "My Mother. I watched her die," silence ensued after her words and for a second, there was a shift in Dr Anders expression.
Even Walter who sat at a little distance away from them looked up at her, surprised at what she just said.
"Alright then. Let’s start from there," Dr Anders said after scribbling down something on his notepad.

Kai opened the door to the president’s office. Seated behind the large mahogany desk, Alex watched as he and his father walked in along with David. His expression was blank and as if he was meeting just another potential business partner rather than his own father.
"Mr Crawford," Alex said as he stood up to receive him.
Williams’ steps faltered but only for a decoder as a knowing crept on his face.
"You boys won’t kill me today," David said with a shake of his head. If he didn’t know better. He would have thought that there was a rust between the two.
"...." Willimas was silent as he stared at the extended hand of Alex. "I shouldn’t have come here like this, I know but you don’t have to be this heartless, Kayden,’ he said and she moved closer and wrapped his hands around his son who stood rigidly while his father offered him all the warmth that he could muster.
After what felt like forever, Alex raised his hand and gently oatyer Williams’ back. A small smile appeared on Williams’ lips before he pulled back.
"Have a seat, Father," Alex offered.
With a nod and a him, Williams sat in front of Alex and David beside him while Kai stood beside Alex.
"You didn’t have to come here. I could have come to you any time but..." Alex stopped and took a deep breath. "Why did you have to come here?"
"To discuss business with you," Williams replied and Alex’s eyebrows pulled together already knowing where the conversation was going. He opened his mouth to speak but Williams raised a hand to stop him. "Hear me out first," his tone pleading as he spoke.
Alex nodded but said nothing.
"I want you to take over the Crawford business. Apex needs its ppresident and that is you. Done make me return to the office again, please, Kayden," Williams pleaded.
This was nothing like a business meeting but a father trying to convince his son to come back home and inherit his fortune.
"Adam has proven he is capable of leading the family," Williams continued, his eyes locked with Alex as he spoke. "Dominic, I can’t trust him with it either–"
"And Sean?" Alex asked. If no one else could be trusted, Alex could vouch for his second brother. At least he knew how to maintain a cool head no matter the situation. He had enough experience to lead a family business or any business to the future.
"Sean is not interested," William replied matter of factly. "And that leaves only you."
The two men engaged in a staring contest with none backing down and neither of the other two made any attempt to stop it. Whatever it was, they had to handle it themselves and if this was the way, then they had no right to intervene.
Williams was the first to break the eye contact as he sighed tiredly. "Tell me something Kayden, why are so anagsint being my heir? Is this about Juliette? Do you still–"
"It has nothing to do with my mother," Alex interrupted before his father would go through another mental breakdown. He already had one person breaking down already, he didn’t need another.
Williams opened his mouth to speak but Alex beat him to him.
"I will think about it. Just give me some time," he said, his expression softening as he looked at his father.
A spark of hope lit up within Williams but he didn’t allow his excitement to show on his face. "I have prepared the document long ago and they are here with me. I won’t leave until your signature is on it," he said defiantly and Alex sighed, managing his temples. "I have heard you say you’d think about it many times, Kayden. Not today."
