Chapter 165: 165

Meanwhile, a pair of eyes never left Sara the whole time. They watched her intensely and noticed her every action and once in a while talking to the earpiece on his ear and withdrew back to avoid being noticed.

As the number of people present dwindled, Sara began feeling the gaze on her. She turned around and looked but couldn’t pinpoint where it was coming from, but her sixth sense was on high alert.

"Is everything all right?" Alex, who had noticed the slight change in her demeanor, asked and, studying her expression for any form of discomfort.

"I feel watched, and I can’t tell where it’s coming from," she said in a whisper tone and drew closer to him, feeling her sense of security return along with the hand that snaked around her waist and the warmth of his body.

Alex frowned. The possibility of having eyes follow their every move and action was at least ninety-nine percent, but it wouldn’t be to the point where a person would have to feel a particular gaze on them. Someone who shouldn’t be here was here, and they were after Sara. At that thought, his expression darkened.

"Don’t leave my side," he said as he took out his phone to make a call.

"I know," Sara said with a nod of her head. Shenwould have to be a fool to leave the one person that makes her feel comfortable in this whole place, especially when she was being watched like prey by a hawk.

The call connected, and he passed on an order, "Check the security room for anyone suspicious and increase the number of security around your Madam. Someone is here." Although his voice was low, it passed on the severity if tye situation and they understood it immediately.

There was a moment of silence before the person he was talking to replied, "Of course, boss. Nothing will happen to Madam."

"Max," Alex called right after he finished talking. "I will hold you on that. If you fail..." Sara looked up at him and placed her hand on arm, smiling when he looked at her. "Don’t fail," he said, and she nodded at him.

"Don’t get too worked up. I’ll contact Asia. I have a feeling they’ll be people she would know," she said and kissed his cheek to ease him up a bit, and it worked like magic.

As she had said, Sara dialed Asia’s number. It rang, but there was no reply. Calling it a second time, the results were the same, and it confirmed her suspicion. Whoever it was watching her was someone whom Asia was familiar with, but they weren’t friendly.

"I think something is wrong with Asia. She would never have busy my calls," Sara spoke, still staring at her phone in her hand.

"Come on, let’s go from here," Alex said and led her away. Her worry for Asia was growing with every step that she took. "We will find her. You don’t have to worry," Alex assured her, but that did very little to ease her.

After knowing that they were being watched, as he led her away, he could feel the eyes following them. His eyes scanned the area, and the people around for Kai and eyes he finally did, they walked towards him.

"Congratulations on officially becoming president Crawford too. And hooray me for getting more work piled up at my table," Kai said when Alex and Sara stopped in front of him. But they stayed back at him without any reaction to him. "Tough crowd," he uttered before he took in the worry in Sara’s face.

"Is there a problem?" He asked, his tone taking a serious turn.

"Find Asia and what happened to her. I also want a list of the names of everyone in attendance here today. A photo attachment would be appreciated," Alex said, and Kai frowned.

"Can someone tell me what’s really happening here?" he asked, his gaze alternating between the couple.

"I think Asia is in danger, and whoever it might be here for... me," Sara replied, but the furrow between Kai’s brows only deepened, but then, he got the picture of the situation. "Please find her." Sara added.

Kai looked at her and wanted to ask why she was still so concerned about someone else when her life was also in danger. But seeing as Alex stayed glued to her side, he got the answer that he sought. "I will find her," he said and excused himself.

"Trouble just never leaves those two," he whispered and shook his head. "Alex better give me a raise for all this extra work I am putting in."

Away from Apex Tower, Asia was bound to a chair and cloth tied on her mouth to prevent her speech. She stared glaring at the two men standing in front of her with nonchalant expressions etched on their faces.

One of them came forward and squatted before her. His face was so close that she smelled his breath and her nose scrunched in irritation, but he didn’t seem to care as he opened his mouth to speak. The smell of cigarette he had drowned himself in became more prominent, and Asia felt suffocated by the smell alone.

"There are some questions we would like you to answer and I would prefer you do that without delay," he said and reached for the cloth that restrained her speech and took it off. "We are very much aware of your stubbornness and are well prepared to deal with it as we see fit. So I will once again ask that you behave and cooperate with us."

Asia turned her face, unable to breathe from the smell of the cigarette. But she didn’t say a word either.

"The first question is this...." He started again, hut was interrupted by Asia, who asked abruptly,

"Why are you doing this? Master Goldman has been good to everyone, so why do you want to hurt his only child?" She stared at the one still squatting in front of her, when he didn’t answer her, she looked at the kne standing at the entrance of the room she was in.

"That woman doesn’t have the right to command you. And no one in the family has the right to kill the heir so why do you follow their others? Why do you want to kill the chords if the man who raised you and made you who are..." she was silenced by a harsh slap to her face.

Theresa’s Crack from her neck right after the impact of his palm on her cheek. Her face was forcibly tilted to the side and because she was slapped between speech, she had bitten down on her tongue and now it bled.

"I told you we are prepared to deal with it accordingly," then in front of her said again but instead of the expression that he had expected, she smirked.

"Cowards," she spat out the blood and he quickly evaded it. "Do you think because you slapped me I would tell you everything you want to know or beg you?" She chuckled. "Then you don’t know anything about me. If I was thay easy to break, I wouldn’t have served beside Master Goldman at all and he would have trusted me to protect his daughter."

"You little...."

"Stop. She is right. Violence won’t work on her," the other man intervened when he raised his hand again to slap her. "She is built differently," he looked at Asia who smirked at him. "There is no need to ask her anything. Caleb would get the necessary information. He is tailing her."

They both looked at Asia to see what her expression would be after hearing that someone was railing Sara but she still wore a smirk on her face.

"I am not needed to ensure her safety, ass***. All I did all this while was be her assistant. The role of the body guard is handled by someone else," she said and there was a challenge in her eyes as she spoke that had them reconsidering their plans and worrying about their friend.

"She must be bluffing," the first one said but the other didn’t think the same.

"Am I? Why do you think I was so far away from her?" Asia asked.

"Then why weren’t you close to her as her assistant?"

"Greg, right?" Asia asked the one standing and he nodded. "I thought so. I’ve seen you before and so you know I do not lie. It has become a reputation of mine. So I’ll ask you, do you think I am lying?"

He furrowed his brows at her but she laughed.

"She is married to a Young Master Legend. I shouldn’t tell that he does not lack manpower, do I?" She added and he stood up straight immediately. Searching for the communication device, he was ready to contact Caleb.

He furrowed his brows at her but she laughed.
