MATED TO THE SECRET ALPHA -
Chapter 98: Disaster
Chapter 98: Disaster
"He’s found her, he’s mated her. And they love each other. The wheel of fate has been spun. So, what more are you fighting for?" Aethera lifted a brow.
"Was that why you made them carry their mate bond through three lifetimes? You wanted them to be together?" Mahina asked, confusion etched on her perfectly gorgeous face. "But why? Aren’t you against their bond?"
Aethera laughed, a soft, boisterous laughter rich with elegance and amusement, the sound filling the room like music, but sending shivers down Mahina’s spine.
"You think you’re so clever, don’t you, Sister?" Aethera’s voice dripped with sarcasm. "But you’re just now realizing the true extent of my plan. Yes, I made sure they would carry their mate bond through all lifetimes. And with each lifetime, their love would grow stronger, but so would the pain of their eventual separation. And so would Snow’s obsession and desperation."
Aethera’s smile grew wider, her eyes flashing with triumph. "You see, Mahina, I didn’t just want to punish Snow. I wanted to break him. And what better way to do that than to give him a love that would haunt him for eternity?"
"Aethera!" Mahina’s voice cracked with emotion, her eyes blazing with a mixture of anger and desperation as she took a step forward, her hands clenched into fists. "Stop this, Aethera! Stop toying with Snow and his mate. They’ve suffered enough."
Mahina’s words hung in the air, a plea to her sister’s humanity, but Aethera’s expression remained unmoved, her eyes glinting with a cold, calculating light. "You’re supposed to be fair. Doing this will alter our fate. It would destroy the balance. If you push him too hard and Snow seeks help from Helios, God of war, we’ll be doomed!"
"Spare me the lecture, Mahina. I know exactly what I’m doing. And as for being fair..." Aethera’s smile twisted, her eyes flashing with a malevolent gleam. "Fairness is what I say it is. The balance will be maintained, but on my terms, not yours. And as for fate..."
Aethera’s voice dropped to a whisper, her words sending shivers down Mahina’s spine. "I shape fate, I turn the wheel to whatever I want, not the other way around."
"Aethera, are you not afraid of mother’s ire...?" Mahina gasped, her eyes widening as she realized something she’d failed to consider before. "You’re not intending to return the powers to mother!?" Mahina’s voice trembled, her eyes filled with a growing sense of horror.
Aethera was the goddess of mate bond, life, and death, while Mahina was the goddess of peace, happiness, prosperity, and beauty.
As for the moon goddess, she has all the powers.
Before the moon goddess went into a coma, she gave Aethera, the wisest one among the twins the powers to do all things, pending when she’d awaken from her slumber. But now, as Mahina watched her sister’s actions, she realized that Aethera had begun to abuse the trust their mother had placed in her.
The powers that were meant to be used for the greater good were now being wielded for Aethera’s own selfish desires, and Mahina feared that her sister’s actions would have far-reaching and devastating consequences.
"I will not let you destroy everything Mother worked for," Mahina declared. She opened her palm, a white glowing orb appeared, pulsing with the gentle, loving energy of the moon goddess. The orb grew brighter, and Aethera’s eyes narrowed, her gaze fixed on the orb with a mixture of fascination and contempt.
"You think a little moonlight is going to stop me, Mahina?" Aethera sneered, her voice dripping with disdain. "I have the power of life and death at my command. Your petty power is no match for mine. But I can’t say the same for you." With that, an identical orb appeared in Aethera’s palm, but unlike her sister’s pure white, hers was a mix of purple and black, an indication that her heart has been corrupted.
Mahina’s eyes widened in shock and horror as the dark orb hurtled towards her. She raised her hand, and her own white orb surged forward, meeting Aethera’s attack in mid-air.
The two orbs collided, unleashing a blast of energy that sent Mahina flying backward.
She landed hard on the ground, her vision blurring as she struggled to catch her breath. As she looked up, she saw Aethera standing over her, another dark orb pulsing with energy in her hand. "Farewell, Sister..."
"No, Aethera, please..." Mahina whispered, but her sister’s face was twisted in a cruel smile and the orb began to glow even brighter, its dark energy swirling with an otherworldly power.
Aethera’s eyes changed, a pure white and her black hair transformed from the root, transforming into all white.
She was in the moon goddess state.
To kill another goddess, it had to be done by the moon goddess herself, and Aethera had borrowed the moon Goddess’s power, a form that allowed her to tap into the raw power of the universe.
In this state, Aethera was virtually unstoppable, her abilities transcending even those of a regular goddess.
The air around her seemed to vibrate with energy as she raised her hand, the dark orb now replaced by a brilliant white light that pulsed, growing bigger and bigger until it was as huge as two footballs combined.
The palace shook, earthquake warnings blaring in the distance as the very foundations of the realm trembled beneath Aethera’s feet.
The white light, now a massive, pulsating sphere, seemed to be drawing energy from the land itself, its power growing exponentially with each passing moment.
Mahina, still reeling from the previous attack, gazed up at her sister in horror, knowing that she was now facing the full fury of the moon goddess incarnate.
But this was not right. Her sister was about to destroy the palace and the universe. Then, it dawned on her that Aethera had lost control of the power.
"Aethera, stop this!"
The ground cracked and splintered, great fissures opening up as the earthquake intensified, and Mahina knew that if she didn’t act soon, the entire realm would be torn asunder.
Meanwhile, the earth was also going through the same catastrophic transformation. The earthquake had intensified, causing widespread destruction and chaos.
Volcanoes erupted, spewing forth molten lava and ash, while the oceans churned and foamed, unleashing massive tsunamis that threatened to engulf the land.
